What correlation is there between current Amazon price and total sales performance?

Also, the game has only been out for six days, and in a single region. Why are we even discussing this? I sometimes feel as though Fox News employees have GAF accounts.

Honestly, I rarely get much use out of Skills...especially that one, it doesn't seem to be super-strong so I've just saved it to finish off bosses.

I use Tom and Scarecrow's supers fairly frequently given the amount of mines dropped can be a defensive lifesaver. That said, scarecrow's number of mines is obviously less consistent, so IMO it's worse unless you're in the best possible position to heal up with any candy dropped as well as not be in the line of sight of any enemy you want to hit with the mines (anything with a ranged attack will, if you're luck is bad, stop right before the mines and just kill you given scarecrow has piss health).
The game is new and the single player's really meaty. I haven't even tried it, so not surprised that online is small either way.

Small note, but the "waiting" music for the versus lobby is fantastic.

And a reminder to everyone to go into versus to turn on spotpass for tournament notifications.

So I'm finding that Califia seems to be pretty over-powered... She's been consistently saving the day for me when the rest of my team is dead; most recently on 15-1...

Califia's a really slow-and-steady character for me.

Her attack only seems to do about 40, and it doesn't seem to take in account weak-points. She's useful, but sometimes I want someone who can get in fast and do more damage, like Fox or John. I tend to make give her the Medi-Carbine and keep her in the back and serve as support, but she never really saved the day for me.

Yeah, the thing is, I've kinda come to prefer a slow-and-steady playstyle. Also, the main thing about her weapon isn't so much its damage, but the combination of its range and explosive power. It's like a combination of The Fox's rifle and John's Bear Grenade, both of which I also like.

Just got the game and am going to start it soon. Man, it sounds like this was a mega bomb though. :/

Went to pick it up at Meijer today and the clerk told me I'm the second copy they sold with about 10 or more still left in stores. This was the same Meijer that I went to a week after MM 3D released and they were completely sold out. (had to travel elsewhere to get it)

Yeah, she can kill your turn speed bonus if you rely on her as your sole damage.

She has the best battle quotes in the game though. A BEAST IN NEED OF KILLING. Shit's way more hardcore than everyone else lol.

Yeah, I honestly want to use her for how badass she sounds

I'm having a pretty good time so far. The long alien turns aren't a big deal to me, I've sat through longer with Civ 5 and modernized XCom. I do wish it wasn't necessary to play out the aliens' "looking around" animation if they can't actually find a reason to hunt or move around, but that's a minor thing.

Right now I'm basically playing with the following "rules":
1. End the map with everyone at full health (or play as though everyone has only 1 HP)
2. Pick up all gears and medals
3. Cannot be damaged or dizzied by enemy overwatch

I'm starting to wonder if... I really should be adhering to those constraints now lol =\ There's a very early map that I've restarted a bunch and I'm at the point where maybe I don't mind dropping the first 2 rules. I'm pretty sure that getting hit by overwatch means a big mistake in execution on my part though, unless the game expects me to be tanking hits.

What is the strategy in Boston mission 3, in the house? I can't even get into the basement without getting annihilated.

Also, what is the strategy with QueeQueq? Does anyone use him on their main team? He seems terrible and his attack is kind of awkward.

The penguin is pretty useful for scouting, seeing as it basically counts as a temporary character. Launching it does more than just play an animation, you can actually look around from its perspective while it's in motion. Also it will trigger enemy Overwatch attacks, including those darn tentacles that burst out of the ground, so you can use it as a distraction and to "test the waters", so to speak. Also, since it will go until it hits something, you can use it to camp outside of the range of an enemy and just send penguins at it, and the enemy won't be able to shoot you back.

The penguins have infinite range provided you have a clear path, giving him some of the best zoning in the game. He's like a better john for corridors.

I went today to several stores and all of them had at least 5 copies of this game, it was sad seen its just not selling =(.

So it really depends on us, the fans, we have to get the world out about how good the game is, really hammer it and bring it home to not let this game die.

I beat the game last night!! Just enjoying the music player right now before I tackle the multiplayer or remaining gears... There really are a lot of tracks available to listen to, btw...

made the mistake of quitting mid mission

what the fuck kind of design is that where i can't resume where i left off.

the shitty designs on certain things is really starting to add up for me. it's a fantastic game but it's baffling why I have to redo the entire mission because I brought the wrong team to the final part of the mission.

Did you do "Restart Map" or "Return to the Liberty"? "Return to the Liberty" makes you redo the entire mission, but "Restart Map" will let you just redo that part of it (with a different team, if you want)

Do you mean mission or map? It saves and resumes after any map.

Man, Sentries may be OP for multiplayer. That fucking range is insane. I feel bad fighting anyone who doesn't have it unlocked.

EDIT: Getting a few ragequits lol. People who disconnect instead of surrender.

Yeah, I feel like I really need to get that done... I actually didn't come across any in the 2 multiplayer matches I've played so far, but I hear they're really useful in the single-player campaign, too...
(not really sure how I managed to beat it without them...)

I don't get how attacks go through the bodies of enemies and don't hit. I don't mind having to play around certain enemies and their range/abilities but when it stops right on top of me and I still cannot hit it I get a little frustrated.

Definitely see what some of the reviews said about that too. Nothing pisses me off more than wasting steam trying to hit something and not being able to.

After a while I realized they kept going after Tom so I just kept using him as bait. Tiger slays them well enough with the shuriken

edit: oh my god reinforcements every turn and i have no idea where some of these frozen people are =/

How much health do they have?

Quite a bit, but I don't remember how much. Enough to eat a few grenades and whatnot.

I only used the Sentry in the SP for the final mission.

I'm getting quite hooked on the multiplayer. Now I'm playing other maps, they really liven things up. If they were smart, they would have put some of this in the demo.

EDIT: I wonder how much they expect you to participate in the tournament mode. I don't feel like playing it a ton, but I did win the 3 games I played of it.

:D knew it! Thing is with enemies: you only hit it if your crosshair was actually on the target in the moment you pull the trigger. Due to their tiny size and annoying idle animation, they're a bitch to hit with most weapons.

Those flies are annoying, but I'm gonna love going back to that map as Scarecrow and wrecking them with the Pumpkin Bombs.

So any good tips for where the people that need rescuing are in 4-2? After 15 turns the reinforcements become just too much to even fight through so I'm going to have to restart. I only found four of them so I'm guessing there are both in the corner somewhere.

If I remember correctly...

One on the left (behind the building), one further up in a building you can walk in in the north-east building, one in the middle which Tom can jump in (and shoot down the chandelier to hit the enemies), one in the center, and one on the right near a Hint Screen.

It seems the reinforcements only come in the middle if you stand around there. Actually from what I've observed it seems the reinforcements mainly only appear when you camp around an area, in one level I was getting overrun by them, and then I actually moved and made progress, and they stopped appearing.

But that level is pretty hard. I just used Lion's high HP to take hits and survive long enough to rescue everyone.

One is hidden behind a crate in one of the edges, near the hint screen.

I'm genuinely surprised so many people miss that one. Maybe I'm particularly thorough? Fun fact: If blow up the gold box on the ledge next to your spawn, you can use Lion to jump straight to it and skip the upper level part in front of it (which is guarded by a nettler).

That feeling when you get the timing right on killing a Nettler.

Restarted 4-2 and it's going way better. Looks like I'm going to be able to complete it with all three gears.

Way harder than I made it out to be but I did kill three Nettlers with great timing.

edit: even got the turn par on 4-2 lol.

Got to Chapter 5. The game has some questionable choices sure, but I'm having quite a lot of fun with it.

Tom with the long range stun weapon and the Lion going in and doing work on stunned enemies is so good.

Can't wait to get more characters and weapons to keep discovering cool combos like this.

The tournament isn't even fun. My opponents have characters and weapons that shoot explosives almost all the way across the map. it's like playing the old Quake 3 Arena mod where everyone has railguns.

I wonder why they didn't even try to make tournaments fair? It's strictly based on your progress through the single player game.

Playing 5-2 right now and I don't think I did it the way I'm supposed to.

I got super unlucky with those eye things cutting Tiger Lilly off from the rest of my group so I couldn't heal Henry Fleming and he died so I had to revive him.

Also is that tank supposed to be anything? I ended up just killing it since I could but I thought maybe I could get inside of it =/

Also I feel like the Lion with the Shuriken and the tank that recovers health every turn is about the most broken thing for the early game. Even moreso with Tom supporting or even open areas Queequeg softening up enemies with a penguin.

You maybe should avoid multiplayer at least until you have all the characters, if not until you unlock the Sentry gun.

You can get inside. It isn't even a bad idea to rush for it since its very strong.

Yeah I discovered that area after I had cleared pretty much everything else out. I'll play it again and go that way first and see what happens.

edit: Mission 5 was really cool. I think it might be overkill having two characters with the 10% regen per turn tank on though.

Tiger on the floor below tanking 5 enemies while Tiger Lilly is up above healing him once or twice per round. Queequeg makes me so nervous with his shots and I did mess up once but finished the mission. Have to do it again for a gear though! So good!

You blew up the tank? At the beginning of the mission, you are told that a tank was provided for you to use. Also, the enemies on the gun turrets are shooting at it the whole time!

I actually haven't found the health regen steam tanks to be that powerful. It's probably because I am constantly advancing, trying to finish the mission within the expected number of turns. I could see the regen being strong if you sandbag.

If only you had read my OP you'd have see a screenshot of the player being inside the tank.

It also had this useful little blurb right above it:
]Vehicles: On certain maps you will come across vehicles such as tanks that you can enter with any character and use to wreak havoc. Reign death upon thine enemies or just keep that heavily wounded teammate safe.
