During the hourlong press session, Sony officials also disclosed that Columbia Pictures and Sony PlayStation are working on a movie adaptation of the video game "Horizon Zero Dawn." That title had been in development as a series for Netflix. No other details about the movie project were revealed other than that the two Sony units are collaborating on a film adaptation, according to PlayStation Productions chief Asad Qizilbash.

bad movies endless trash GIF

Remember when Sony weren't fuelled by constant, endless greed? Good times.
Like when they announced film adaptations of Uncharted and Shadow of the Colossus? Or made Siren and Ratchet & Clank movies?
You made this exact comment twice and I can't get any sense out of it, lol.

Okay, let's have a go at it, shall we?

'Video games company seeks to bleed every cent dry it can from all of its IP in tangential media, instead of concentrating on its core business - making games people want to play'.

Remember when Xbox decided its core audience wasn't that important, and tried to chase other entertainment avenues, instead of concentrating on its games?

That went well.

You do know Sony has years of investment in its tv/film studios, making studio camera equipment for literally years? They not allowed to make money from those investments?

Making games people want to play is the core business of Sony Pictures, you say?
PlayStation Productions is literally just a not-so-big set of producers farming out SIE's IP to other production companies/studios, with the help of Sony Pictures and/or Aniplex.
How do you even come to the conclusion that this is remotely taking away any sort of attention from game production, that employs a WHOLE BUNCH of other unrelated people?

So I guess Nintendo, SEGA, Capcom, etc. are all greedy bastards not focused on game making as well for pushing for film adaptations of their games too?

Seriously, the people who are going to make this film are not the same people who would be developing games. Pretty sure most people who are in the film industry don't have time to develop games, and vice versa.

A Horizon movie being made will have zero negative impact on Sony's game development.

I remember when Sony's CES PS presentation used to be about games and updates now its boring TV, anime, movies, stuff.:messenger_downcast_sweat:
I don't get the point when they could have games at SOPs instead, I would rather have PS Productions stuff at CES, honestly.

I'm sure the corporate shifting of focus won't hurt Sony as a games company. After all, Microsoft were fine, weren't they?

Where's the focus shift?

CES hasn't been about games for Sony in practically 20 years. It's for everything else not console and gaming directly.

What shift of focus, lmao? Heck, I'll bite and ask what shift happened at Xbox even, they just released an expensive console with a forced peripheral no one cared about anymore. What about it?

25 million players have enjoyed Aloy's amazing journey. The theaters will likely be full. Sony should build more in the main cities so people don't have to wait too long.

"Discover mysterious mysteries, explore adventurous adventures and join famous characters like...who are these people again?"

Did somebody at Sony misread a zero somewhere in the sales numbers that they think anybody gives two fucks about Horizon that it needed more then a single entry? Let alone a bad sequel, a meh VR game, an in the works (Likely meh) MMO and now this?
