I actually took this photo down my street during heavy fog.

The figure in the road makes it extra creepy, nice.

I was reading on the first television broadcast just yesterday, and discovered the old Phonovision experiments, which, as far as I know, included one of the first long distance transmissions (over 400 miles). Since the quality was really bad and the light for the experiments was too hot for people, they used a ventriloquist’s dummy head, called Stookie Bill.
Here's an image of it:

and the frames of one of the few phonovision records that survived the times:

Interestingly, another record actually featured a person, and you can see wonderfully, albeit pretty small, here how it looks like:

Yeah. It's the first record "Au claire de la lune" all again.
The images and animations are from the "Dawn of the TV" website, which is really well written and informative. But man, that doll. Needless to say, there are a few horror stories about it.

And as a bonus, here's a Stookie Bill that survived the experiments, from the National Media Museum:

Edit:
Another bonus, the "marcus games" discs from 1932-35 also have that stuff, and there are two animations where they simply can't tell what the heck it actually is.

Seriouly, what's this? (Also from the TV Dawn website)

That last gif looks like the colors are inverted, probably just a cloth doll of some sort:

EDIT:

here's the gif inverted. you can see a thumb and fingers holding onto the doll and moving it side to side and the dolls arms flopping.

Zoroastrianism Dakhma (Tower of Silence in English). They're (usually) large, cylindrical raised stone structures built to house the dead, exposing corpses to the sky and the birds to decompose. The pit in the middle collects the skeletal remains as the bodies break down. Pretty gruesome and absolutely NSFW (visible dead bodies, gore), so linking only:

Good pictures Melchiah - the sea does have some creepy shit, although I find it equally fascinating. Those ones with the whales are amazing.

This is gorgeous. I love creepy Gothic stuff. There's something so wonderfully bleak about it.

That's terrific - was the person standing there deliberate, or a happy coincidence? Because I didn't notice that at first, and it makes the image all kinds of creepy.

To tell the truth, not really. I think Gaf offers more balanced discussion and information, and is better moderated. It's become the only gaming site I visit nowadays, as I can find everything here.

feel you. no secret you're a fan of Sony's offerings as much as I was Nintendo's, so that place kind of sucked if you wanted to talk about anything outside PC or Xbox.

Good to see you so active on this side. Be safe my man.
