It always was, was it not? After Affleck's Batman, Aquaman was the most highly anticipated one. Even after MOS came out and before BVS. Snyder has his haters, WW has it's question marks but James Wan has delivered quality films for a while now.
I don't know if it ever was to be honest, a lot of people questioned Gadot and wondered if Jenkins can deliver being out of the game for so long.
Whereas people saw Conjuring 2 and Furious 6 and were like yup... and then Snyder dropped the AM image and everyone flipped.

Fast 7 actually made me concerned. Wasn't a fan and wasn't a fan of how Wan directed action. Also, let's not forget about the endless Rob Zombie Aquaman and "lol Aquaman, am I right?" comments.
What's funny is Bryan Hirota just seems like he'd rather be anywhere else the whole time.

There's more reassuring about the Aquaman production than not. If there's a rumor to confirm biases, negative or positive, of course people will fall for it. But it is what it is. Ain't just a DC thing. Maybe we can be better and not fall for the blatantly false stuff like that letter from a Warners insider.
Double-edged sword. Sure, you don't want to immediately buy into it but you can't just immediately dismiss it either. One way or another it will end up being a part of the conversation. The only thing you can do is learn to spot something questionable and label it as such and spotting something with some legitimate probability. And both of these things have to sit outside of confirmation bias. Tricky bridge to cross.
People are still questioning if Momoa can lead or even act.
I definitely agree with that, and I fall in that camp. He can lead, can he act? I don't think even he thinks he's Leo. That said, you don't need the best actor, you need the right actor. Which I think Momoa is for AM

Fast 7 is probably the worst of the bunch, but not because of Wan. The series jumped the shark and should've ran it's course about movie or two ago. Now they're made only because of how much money they make.
Walker's death made a mess of things too, though they handled it about as well as they could. His smaller presence was felt in 7, and the series won't be the same at all without him.
Nothing stops this train.

I wasn't a fan of how he directed the action scenes. Fast and Furious is what it is at this point. It's still my biggest concern for Aquaman.

It's actually fine as you go through the thread. That first big spoiler splurge was, as Bobby Roberts put it...I was hoping to read good things
If you read other comments and reactions, it put those things in better context and calmed everyone down. I have not read the spoilers though so I don't know exactly what they were flipping out about.
Yeah I got scared because I know it's blacked out in the first post, but I can totally see a "I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY KILLED OFF BATMAN AND WONDER WOMAN IN THIS MOVIE" unmarked. So I only got the first few negative ones.
Not to say the actual movie will be any better but really any movie is going to sound basic or off-putting written out like that. I saw TFA written out in a similar way and it was just way better to see it on screen.

I read the TFA spoilers and I was excited for it, with this...yeah I got nothing
Interesting because I thought that was was incredibly predictable for anyone who watched all the trailers. Especially once they dropped the movie of Poe wearing his jacket, then Finn wearing it... then a storm trooper accompanying Poe, following the reveal of Finn being an ex storm trooper.
It seemed like something I would be interested in seeing, whereas this, even if I didn't have my whole "not seeing a DC movie unless it's great" thing, seems meh at best
I read the entire outline and thought it would be at least as good as ANH off of that alone

I didn't love TFA though but it was pretty decent. I imagine reading what happened would have really nerfed my hype tho
I didn't read all the wonder woman spoilers. Only who the bad guy is and how they are bookending the story. Which is a lot like the Hobbit actually.
Reading plot points is wack anyways. A lot of shit in these comic movies sounds dumb until you see it. And leading up to those moments during the movie matters on whether you'll buy into those events or not

Considering how people reacted to the 3 DCEU films so far, I'll go out on a limb and say that if people find WW movie as being "mhe" "basic" and not find it terribly ofensive as in " this movie killed my dog and spat on his grave", I'll take that as a good sign.

I'm a huge DC Fan and I thought Lego Batman was... mediocre. And I can't explain it. I mean it was funny and parts of it was enjoyable but walking out of the theatre I was like, I don't get how it was reviewed that highly. A LOT of the action is high speed and it's almost a blur. Very hard to read the action because you can't exaggerate the shapes like a normal animation movie since LEGOs are very rigid.

Ew... Amazing Spider-Man, save for the obvious Spider-Man costume that's hard to mess up... had GOD AWFUL costumes. From Rhino/Goblin/Electro/Lizard. They were god awful... and I'm terrified to think about what kind of "personal edgy takes" they'll make on Black Manta and the like.

I just wanna say despite me being accused of being a DC Stan, I don't enter the Marvel thread and talk shit about it. Marvel fans on the other hand bitch about DC films more than DC fans praise them in this thread.
You do tend to invoke Marvel in literally any discussion you have about DC movies though.

It's easy to panic and go OH SHIT I BET HE WATCHED JL AND IT SUCKED LOL, but the poor dude seems like he may be dealing with substance abuse issues, as well the divorce. Just look at recent pics of him, he's not looking to healthy.
I can understand if WB doesn't want him portraying their most important character if he's having booze problems and what not.

While true, the merits of the movie are just half of the equation. It's gotta bring in the paper as well.
I spoiled myself on TFA like a few months before the film came out. I remember telling people that it was going to be criticized for copying A New Hope as a joke. Boy was I surprised at how that quickly became THE talking point.
Anyways, when I had read that outline, I thought it would make for a safe and decent flick even if it was done poorly. There was no way Abrams was going to screw that up and he didn't. Even though I don't like TFA, I recognize that it's because I've moved on from Star Wars. That franchise hasn't told an interesting story since 2005.
After reading the WW outline, it at least sounds good enough to me. There's some good ideas in there that a creative director can really sink their teeth into.
I can't believe people are judging a movie based off a goddamn leak from a person who only saw it once. You can make any fucking movie sound dull as hell if you wanted to. It's an origin movie, they are all basic as fuck. It's about how well it's made. Batman Begins sounds boring as hell if you were to read that shit to me.
Only DC film in 2018, right? If so then DC will have released 6 movies from 2013-2018 whereas Marvel will have released 14 movies during the same time period.
