"Our shit got blown up" Is seriously the best in-universe explanation they can come up with for having to start from scratch?? I don't know why I was expecting something more than that considering it's Destiny but.. jeez.

Well it works if your character skills don't reset, right?

Huge fan of Destiny here: I won't pick Destiny 2 at all. The franchise is basically dead for me now. Had fun while it lasted these past 3 years. Good luck for anyone staying. I hope you guys don't need to spend over $250 for the full experience like I had to.

Curious about your opinion. Wasnt worth it to elaborate?

The trailer will do nothing to attract new players. The lack of info is a bit amatuerish tbh.

They literally just renamed Battle.net to Blizzard App. If Activision were making a push, they wouldn't have gone for specific Blizzard branding but something more general (or kept battle.net).

I'm saying Bungie could do their own client. They already run their own semi-social network.

No there separate entities, Activision Blizzard is the publisher.

Activision Blizzard is what's Activision renamed itself to after they bought Blizzard. They're not separate, Blizzard is a subsidiary.

I'm excited, but there's no way I'm going in on the deluxe version this time. The year one expansions were just way too terrible for me to do that. And honestly, with so many other games offering free DLC these days, it's hard for me to want to pay for "expansions" at all.

We'll see. Hopefully they'll be good enough to convince me.

Cool trailer but waiting another month and a half to show anything actually from the game is kind of shitty.

I think that's fine. Destiny was way too heavy handed with it's tone and up it's own ass. It's supposed to be a fun coop shooter. They should have fun with it.

Sure I guess.

They pulled it off with Halo. Sergeant Johnson was a good example of effectively using humor amidst dire circumstances. It worked for me, but this Destiny writing doesn't.

Did they always plan to make Cayde like this or did they take that one obscure line where he whispers and pleads "take me with you..." in the vanilla and ran with it?

Cayde was always this way. That's why they got Nathan Fillion to voice him as that type of character is pretty much what Nathan is known for. Both Malcolm Reynolds (Firefly) and Richard Castle (Castle) are similar. Though Cayde is much more Malcolm Reynolds in archetype.

They've shifted from having a sci-fi fantasy mystical feel to a much more generic, quirky action sci-fi feel. I don't have really as much hype for this.

The primary enemy for Destiny 2's launch is a Roman-esque military faction in The Cabal. We already know a lot about the mystical side of things. They're focusing on the underdog war style stuff for launch. Mystical stuff will still be there as we gain our power back and as we move forward. The Darkness is still the greater force pushing all these factions against us. For now at least.

I think the trailer is trash. It tries to be serious and funny at the same time but it fails miserably (especially with the stupid jokes). I really hope the game is good though!

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?
Man, Destiny might be the most tonally confused franchise I've ever seen. We've gone from Noble Space Knights, to Game of Thrones Lite, to bro-five shoot and loot time. Going from the original ViDoc of Destiny 1 to this is jarring.

Yeah. I plead ignorance and am not taking away from anyone's hype - but the tone of that trailer for me was completely unexpected. Didn't do anything for me at all.

I remember Destiny being sold as an "epic space saga" not unlike Halo 1-3 and Reach.

EDIT:

Glad you guys are pumped! I'm excited it's coming to PC for sure. I own the original game and TTK, but never put more than a few hours into it. Hated how it controlled with a controller; which surprised me, since I loved Halo.

Wait is the CE really fucking sold out on Amazon that fast? I never even so a live pre-order button. What in the fuck

GameStop has it up but they charge as soon a you pre-order and fuck that

Gonna have to revoke your "Huge fan of Destiny" license if you're not picking up Destiny 2. Sorry chief.

It was the decision of Blizzard not Activision, they retired battle.net after 20+ years for a new direction.

What do you mean?
The DLCs/Expansions for Destiny 1 were way too expensive for what little they had to offer IMO. I got more content out of a $15 dlc for Elder Scrolls Online then the $40 I paid for on Destiny. I still got them all and got 100% of the trophies for it but I just won't be able to handle this business practice anymore.

Never went live, but after the bashed up state my Ghost edition for Destiny 1 came in, I wouldn't trust them with something like that again.

Absolutely this. Destiny had elements of magic and mysticism rolled into the space themes.

So far, Destiny 2 feels like it's visually and thematically closer to Gears of War or something.
