Diablo 2: Resurrected |OT| Angels and Demons? Sanctuary much.

So I fucked up. I reached Hell Act I in a sorc spec that is restricted to one class of spells.

Could someone help me out will clearing den of evil so I can reset? 2/3rds of the mobs are immune.

I guess you used the 2 from Normal and Nightmare?
Yeah. First one I wasted because I didn't realize they were limited (never existed when I played back in the day).

Then I used the nightmare one to go with a build my gear matched better.

Didn't realize that Hell meant EVERY FUCKING MOB is immune to something....

That sucks. So will my cold mastery not help with that? I hope so or I may just stick with my hammerdin. I just got to Nightmare with my blizzard sorc.

You know what this game needs? The ability to drink potions as soon as you pick it up. Mana low, hold A on controller or the mouse button to drink it immediately. I hate refilling my belt all the time lol

It helps with resistance, not immunity.

I am also cold. Having to scour areas to find mobs that aren't immune. Even then, most elites have double immunity to two elements.

Ah shit, I had my PS5 in rest mode yesterday with Diablo 2 running and when I started the game again, it had been automatically patched.

When I started the game again, my recent progress was gone (like 10 levels of progress) 😑

Ehh, turning off auto updates during rest mode now. Kinda weird though since cloud save is on. A bug?

But on upgrading equipment: it's a good thing I picked up and upgraded all those small gems from Normal using the 3x technique (3 chipped gems of same type = 1 flawed gem of that type... 3 flawed gems = 1 normal... all the way up to perfect quality), and saved those runes like someone on here suggested before. By transmuting 1 Ort Rune, 1 Amn Rune, a Perfect Sapphire, and the rare weapon I wanted to upgrade together, I was able to get exceptional rare weapons.

From this guide I'm looking at, you can upgrade all the way from rare to elite rare, and same goes for unique to elite unique. I imagine the required runes become harder to come by for those higher tiers though. So far I've only done two weapons up to exceptional rare and it's made a big difference early on.
Do the affixes stay the same and getting stronger or are they exchanged when you upgrade?

Actually, it helps with both. The game doesn't differentiate between resistance and immunity: it's just a number. If your number beats the enemy number then you get to damage them. The numbers in Hell are usually so big that your number can't compete. There are things with 180% cold res, for example. You'd need a shitload of +skills and facets to crack that...and probably not even then.

The only single-element sorc that works in Hell is a lightning Sorc with Infinity Conviction aura.

Fire and Cold have too many monsters that are highly immune as to be unbreakable. Comparatively there are no monsters made of lightning, so max lighting resist overcap is lower, thus Infinity is sufficient to make them unimmune.

Alternatively , most people run dual element. You can for example, use Frozen Orb as a 20 point wonder, with no need for synergy, and put the rest in your fire skill of choice.

Frozen Orb is such a cheap late game skill (per point spent) that it is worth it. Or in my case I run a fully synergised frozen orb sorc but with some points put into fireball for cold immunes.

So finally I got a Sur rune drop, first high rune after who knows how many hours of grinding. Now the servers are down once again, if they are gonna roll back everything and I lose that rune I feel like I might be done with this.

Playing on PS4, when you identify items with Cain items inside the cube won't be identified. It's so frustrating because cube management on console is not good and you have to manually take items from it all the time.

is it worth putting a skill point into the resist auras for a hammerdin?

i just dont see any real use scenario where i have resistance aura turned on over somthing else, but maybe it makes a substantial difference in hell?

ive almost maxed the synergies for my hammers, so i dont know what else really to put points into....

Usually in late game you will have a lots of + all-skill gear. And 2 skill point in the resist aura give you +1 max resistant to that element . SO normally people put 1 pts in to each resist aura .

You could drop the cube with the square button and it will put all the items in the cube into your inventory. I use this a lot for the vendor when i sell items since it was mentioned in the thread. You have to pick up the cube afterwards but that is quite easy.

Not perfect but better.

yeah dropping the cube is the best way to empty it into your inventory.

its crazy some of the QoL issues there are plaguing this game (particularly on console). theres some easy things to just automate/simplify onto so many unused buttons.

Good question. I'll make an update next time I play & upgrade a weapon. Wasn't too fussed about it at the time because the focus was on power, to take down the mobs quicker.

But it should be noted that the stat requirements can jump up pretty high. This crafted unique exceptional sword (ancient sword) required 127 str and 88 dex for example.

Got my tal amulet and armor. I can't really get better than this for now. 500mf kill fast, 400mf kill faster.
I’m at over 500mf and 105 fcr with tals armor/amulet brah

but yeah tals is a game changer

debating on whether to get a hoto or death’s fathom but like I said I can’t imagine being more effective at mf than I am now

only downside is that my tals armor has low defense (837).

I got it socketed with a p topaz though so I don’t really want to trade it up.

Mines in the 850s, also socketed with a ptopaz. I pretty much have the exact mf build in mrllamasc blizzard guide.

Yet I dropped a sur and a vex which has nothing to do with mf and nothing else for a few days. Kind of getting bored right now lol

I’m waiting for ladder to drop so I can make my smiter

Until then I’m just farming ancient tunnels all day, switch to meph when I get bored

I cut out pindle because he hasn’t been giving me shit

Well that figures. I'm all out of the low-tier runes needed to upgrade rare items, and was unable too find any during a quick Nightmare run through Dark Wood. 🤷‍♂️ I'll see if I can't find some again later, unless someone with knowledge about this wants to chime in.

But incase anyone forgot: combining 3 normal rejuvenation potions creates 1 full rejuvenation potion. Instant full life and mana. Comes in very handy, and the normal's drop like crazy.

No idea when ladder is coming out

and yeah either zeal or hammers then smite
ill probably go pally as well for ladder

i think ill sell everything soon and just wait for ladder, i mean it's alright farming but im kind of getting sick of it. It's pretty much a shopping simulator from now on

Starting to see where I messed up in Nightmare early on. All this talk about Magic Find & showing badass items on here got me a little excited, to the determent of actually staying alive. lol. Now that I've focused more on stats over MF, it's been going a lot better. The items aren't dropping as frequently, but at least I'm not constantly jumping back to town to stock up on potions.

I did try playing without any /players enabled, and holy sh*t, it feel like being on super easy mode. 6 players feels like what a normal mode would be, and 8 players is definitely hard. This is with decent (not excellent) gear on a Barbarian. Couldn't imagine actually being in a game with 7 other players nearby, especially with aura's and all that. Is there an actual challenge there?

Some people play this game with a spreadsheet in front of them like they are doing accounting which I personally find joyless and the opposite of fun but whatever works for the individual I guess. Understanding MF is important, Mr.Llama explains it along these lines:

If a unique has a 1/1000 chance of dropping and your MF is 100% then that unique now has a 2/1000 chance of dropping, that's it. Also, MF has ZERO affect on rune drops.

My MF has never been over 100% and I've gotten tons of cool stuff including Jalal's Mane which is considered one of the single best character specific pieces of gear in the entire game. It dropped for me in Act 3 Nightmare with an MF of 60%, was just naturally playing through the level.

I'd say just play however you want to play, if you're not having fun and psychoanalyzing every minor detail then what's the point? Good luck once you get to Hell, giving me a *real* challenge, I love it 😆.

Level 50 something on nightmare and don't feel the need to Respec my fireball sorc yet. Huh. I'm waiting to find the right sword and shield for spirit runeword. Which cold spell if your favorite?

For my Fireball Sorc I just dumped about 10 points into Frozen Orb and a point into Cold Mastery. Carried me through Hell just fine.

Interesting, I feel like people say you gotta do meteorb or whatever but my pure fireball is MELTING crowds. What gear did you use for nightmare?

Nice, are you playing singleplayer? Word is there's only a few select builds that can beat the game on Hell difficulty solo with /players 8 enabled, and my build isn't one of them. lol. Gonna be interesting to see... Even Nightmare is giving me problems. The damn merc (any) won't stop dying, so I've pretty much given up on them. There's a lot more hit & run tactics, and having to bait / isolate minions because the bastards love to close you in. When you have a multi-hit skill like Frenzy, it's more difficult to take down just 1 enemy at a time, which gives the mobs an easier chance of closing you off completely. There's definitely a lot more moving around, but it's been pretty fun and has kept me on my toes.

Offline, singleplayer all the way 👍

Mercs become very important. Most will have you believe the Act 2 Nightmare Merc is the be all end all but this is subjective and really dependent on your build. I was using the freeze aura Merc for all of Nightmare. Once I hit Hell though he just wasn't cutting it, died way too fast, always in danger since he's melee based and always in the mix. Switched to Act 1 Merc, stays at a distance, me and my grizzly keep the hordes occupied while she shoots frozen arrows and does decent damage from afar.

I recently switched the the Act 3 Merc and he's even more effective, rapid fire ice spells from a distance. Give your Mercs top-end gear, heal them with full rejuvenation potions when their life gets low. Keep in mind any gear with +skills will affect the Mercs skills if equipped on them instantly making them stronger/more effective in battle! Build up their resistances. Act 2 Merc can't use shields, Act 3 Merc can. Giving that Act 3 Merc an Ancient's Pledge for example instantly gives him a massive boost to all resistances, some food for thought.

Do the Merc skills change with each difficulty? I don't recall the Act 2 merc having freeze aura, at least not on Normal difficulty. It was defense, heal, and attack rating.

It must be nice having an extra minion (grizzly) to help tank. That's what I'm missing with the Act 1 merc, lol. She dies so fast and keeps running into packs of mobs. Spent enough gold reviving her dumb ass. The mercs from normal difficulty weren't doing much better, so I've just been going solo in Act 1. They were all equipped pretty well, some even had better armor than me at times. They can't survive with all those elites. Maybe the gear wasn't quite good enough for Nightmare difficulty.

I never even thought to give mercs full rejuvenation potions. Sh*t. That's great advice right there. Instant heal instead of having to wait.

For nightmare? Just the usual. Spirit weapon, ancients pledge for survivability, Rhyme for magic find, Lore helm and Stealth chest. Rings, ammys, belt, boots gloves were a combo of resists, FCR and magic find.

The jump to Hell was rough at first but I lucked out and found a Shako + Serpentskin chest piece off Nightmare Baal at the same time.

Meteorb just works. You get AOE freeze plus some cold damage for fire immunes. The cold damage ain’t great but my merc cleans up well on mobs I can’t torch.
