Doom dark ages will not only use ray tracing for visuals but for gameplay

Hope for a release date soon. I like fix release dates in advance too allocate my time and money. This year there is not much known so far.
Isn't the stuff they show at these January directs supposed to release in the first half of the year? I know Indy got delayed, but that's the intention right?

May release or around that time would be nice.

I hope so but i meant in general not just Microsoft. Unused fun money goes to some kind of investment.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Not necessarily first half, but it's supposed to be things that are releasing in the same calendar year. Avowed was shown last year but only got a delay real late into the game (around Sep' or Oct I believe).

But this (DOOM) already got a 2025 date in its reveal trailer last time. I think it's gonna stick the date. Maybe a late Summer game

Sounds like the enemies being torn apart as you shoot them is going to look even better than in DOOM Eternal.

Can't wait for this game.

This is one thing I loved about Eternal (among others) but the deformation and breakdown of enemies as you killed them was really cool.

I’m not very excited to lose all the air mobility but hopefully it’s still a fun and tense experience.

Also they need to get rid of that stupid cape. Capes over armor is one of my most hated designs.

So potato RT for AMD hardware. Or a freaking lame parity.

Path Tracing's been confirmed already

I fail to see how it is not possible with Raycasting

Edit: Nvm, I can see how, RC will only check if it collides with an object, but not material properties, really this game is gonna be amazing

I'm retarded?
Sounds good on paper tho I wonder how taxing this will be and how it will impact input. Doom games are amazing for having great and smooth combat....this.. doesn't sound great for input...

Casting a ray to detect a hit and where it hits.

Amazing.

Every shooter ever made does this and it has little to do with ray tracing and path tracing that enhances the graphics.

I’m very much looking forward to this game, but I don’t know what he’s talking about.

The most puzzling thing is Microsoft who now owns the engine by owning the studio, is moving Halo team to fucking UE5

Doc Brown GIF by Back to the Future Trilogy

They have ID tech, they have also Forza tech which is used in Forza (duh), MSFS and Fable which already looks amazing

Why UE5?

Why?

They like to hire contractors in on 18 month contracts, which necessitates a learning curve. Easier to go with people that are already at least semi-competent with UE5

They should open IdTech up like they did years ago and licence it out.

I Call it BS, they want to make their lives easy by not use pre cal lighting and tell this shit to make people buy new cards

But this can be positive, if Doom don't sell very well on steam it's the end of obligatory RT

Oh damn, EAs golden touch strikes again. I feel bad for anyone who bought that. Playing that would make my brain deteriorate.

It was rough as fuck at launch. Not so bad now on PC, but still performs like shit in VR to the point where peoples just go to dirt rally 2 if they want VR
