Dragon’s Dogma 2 sold 3M copies

When I played Dragon's Dogma 2, I often had that feeling where I wish I was playing Elden Ring instead.
I literally sarted a new playtrhoughs right after giving up on this as some sort of "quick comparison" (you know, something like "Am I remember things wrong or ER was FAR more enjoyable than this one?") and guess what? It fucking was.

I was more easily hooked on a repeated ER playthrough than going through new content in DD2.

The game really captures a sense of adventuring with companions. With multiple path on your way and the further you venture, higher are the odd of getting surprised or killed by something. It makes the camping site important.

Earlier I've read a comment about how Elden ring is better than dd2. Such a silly comment as both game do not compare at all in my opinion. The traversal in Elden Ring is fast and straightforward. The overworld exploration rarely complicated and is mostly a lonely experience all the way through. Main character is swift and the game has no climbing mechanic. You also won't be lost most of the time. Max weight is not a mechanic in Elden Ring either.

Dragon's Dogma 2 often has that feeling, when exploring, where you feel like you're crawling your way into a trap that might have hidden chest in the end. Capcom are king when it comes to risk and reward.
The only thing I could say ER does better, is offer a greater variety of monsters/bosses... But DD sticks to the traditional classic designs/monsters and is better off for it, imo.. and no one does it better.
Won't even get into how vastly superior the gameplay is in DD2. Combat is still king and is untouchable.

ER does many things different or better than DD2 too, I mean, I was not saying Elden Ring is a bad game, far from it!! They're both so different. I love em both equally as if they were my child 🥲"pie_tears_joy:

But one has better movement, more immersive, better combat and better world traversal

Dragons dogma and Ronin, this year is fun for me <3 and the next for me are YS and SMT5. Still have to find the time to play. Got lotta works these days.... Uugh

And it's still Mixed on Steam. The game had a very strong start, peaking at over 100K, but the abysmal performance made me stay away. This is Jedi Survivor all over again where an otherwise good game gets undermined by unacceptable performance.

Still waiting for Respawn/EA to fix Jedi Survivor but this doesn't seem like it'll be happening. Same for Callisto Protocol and Dragon's Dogma 2.
Once people realize they can wait one fucking day before buying a game, to know if is broken or not, this will change. Maybe.

It doesn't look bad to be honest. The 1st game was a surprise back then, and that's all we had about the IP until this moment.

Capcom sell a whole lot more in their most popular IPs, but obviously that wasn't expected for Dragons Dogma.

I was keeping my eye on it. But after reading so many people talking about it's performance issues I gave up for the moment, I have plenty to play right now. Hopefully they fix it, and then I might buy the game on a sale.

Is that good or bad?

How much did the first one sell?
This is very good because it is at Full Price and Mostly digital.everyone gehts more.the First one was very Slow.It sold later more but the Price was already like 20 Dollars or so and back then barley anyone bought digital. And the Games were Cheaper.60 dollar game was decided like that.Game was 5 dollar shipping and production.10 dollars the store 15 dollars Sony 20 dollars the publisher 10 dollars the developer Capcom. But here is Capcom publishing and developer so 25 for Capcom.Today digital game from Sony is 70 all Sony.Dragons Dogma 2 would be digital 30 Sony 40 Capcom.Of course these numbers are estimates.

Most of Capcom's top sellers are in the range of 8 million copies or above.

... after multiple years of being on the market with lots of price cuts. Monster Hunter World was literally the first Capcom release to break 10 million ever. RE7 and RE2make have slowly caught up with it as the most successful Capcom titles, being above 10 mill, but it took them half a decade to get there. During their release window they sold at the level of DD. This is a very good result for Dragons Dogma, your dislike for the game doesn't change facts.

Ended up dropping this to play Stellar Blade, but still have it installed. It didn't completely wow me but it was somewhat fun.
agreed, & i like this as a category. instantly brought to mind games like no man's sky, days gone, division 2, & ghost of tsushima - games that aren't bad, games that i enjoyed to an extent, but games that i've never really considered more than 'okay'...

Is it worth jumping into now? Have they ironed out the kinks? I heard there was some paid dlc controversy at launch, has it been smoothed out?

Monster Hunter World sold more than 5 millions in its first weekend.
Rise 4 in a comparable time frame.
Resident Evil Remake 4 sold 3 millions in the first two days and five in the first month.
Village was slightly slower, but not by much.

...Do you see where this is going? Capcom being ecstatic about DD selling three millions in three months just goes to confirm what one could suspect playing the game: that they probably didn't invest that much in the franchise and they weren't expecting that much from it either.
A good match with how half-baked it feels, incidentally.

I didn't say that the game is struggling or failing. I said these are mediocre (as "decent but unremarkable") numbers.

P.S. If that can satisfy your thirst for justice, someone on ResetERA has been banned for "concern trolling" for expressing similar sentiments, because yeah, that's the level there.

They updated the game with DLSS3 for PC with some bug fixes, but they haven't done a performance patch yet for CPU issues yet. I'd wait for that.

as I said, Monster Hunter World was the absolute exception. RE4make has been the biggest modern RE release and it's still hasn't reached 8 million after one year, despite your claim that 8 mill is normal for Capcom games. It's only normal for a handful of Capcom games after a long amount of time. When the next sales updates comes, DD2 will already have entered Capcom's Top 30 best selling releases ever and it will have no problem entering the Top 15 by next year, because Capcom only has 14 singular releases that sold more than 5 million in their lifetime. lmao what has resetera do with this, way too bail out of an argument because you have wrong numbers
