Rascal: Day One
An open world survival horror game in the vein(s) of Fallout, Attack on Titan, and The Last of Us, and the novel "Sea of Rust" by C. Robert Cargill. In the far future, you play as what was left of humanity. A food delivery bot named "Rascal". Humans have long since left the Earth for far greater endeavors or maybe a terrible misfortune. You aren't all alone though, sort of. You're a small robot with minimal function(s) and not much memory. With a broken and rusted body and barely working parts, hey at least you're alive. Welcome back! You have no legs now and one arm as you "wake up" due to a mysterious signal.
Something or someone wants you alive for whatever purpose that may be. You're "brain" is a limited A.I which may or may not be at times all in English (you used to be able to speak all kinds of languages being a food delivery bot ). And so what you see upon being woken up are bits and bytes of distorted imagery and language text. Soon though, you find replacement for your optics for a (somewhat) better view and a refreshed language controller. As so you scavenge the world-scape looking for new parts and information to allow you to function
better. New legs, arms, maybe wheels instead of legs. Or how about retractable claws to assist in climbing or a magnet and pulley? A frying pan welded on the other for close encounters or harvesting material.
"Waking up"...
The Sun is larger during this time many centuries into the future. Tremors from this are regular at times causing a shifting landscape. Maybe that's why humans left? One thing is for certain. The horizon as far as you can observe is detailed with their refuse and decay. You find a use for it though or at least, some of it. An old building may crumble and fall allowing for access to it's treasures and data or even shelter from the terrible solar storms. Rain storms bring acid rain and lightning which can cause your joints and parts to weaken, so you'll need some kind of oil or anti-electric remedy. Ancient bones of humans and fauna can be ground and mixed with plastic to use as a sort "paste" to coat and protect your body and circuitry from the scorching heat of the Sun.
Among the land you wander are the
giants. Their terrifying and thundering footsteps shake the dust and debris loose if they get near. They're tall and heavy. Some of them reach 200ft-400ft tall. They'll block out the sunlight as they recharge in it, which gives opportune time to sneak and take what you can. They're on constant patrol or maybe some errant cycle in their programming. Sometimes they'll shake and move their limbs to loosen the built-up debris or at times, birds which peck at the barnacles scattered on their frames. In the night, their spotlights scan and if they detect anything, a horrible haunting audible pierces the air as they focus on their target. This sound they emit pulverizes any living thing, literally shaking the cellular or mechanical structure into oblivion.
