Earth Defense Force 2025 English trailer

The bugs have animation now!

PROGRESS!

I'm glad that most of the trailer ran as a slideshow, to let us know that it's a real deal EDF title.

Sometimes I wonder if any regular looking sans serif looks cooler to people used to kanjis, just like most different styles of kanjis look about the same to me.

I think it's awesome that the EDF has an anthem (that sounds like the Battle Hymn of the Republic/Blood on the Risers).

I love the ragdoll physics they use now for when you get thrown around by ants.

But... I will be sad if this game does not feature a painfully bad dubbing.

"THIS IS FOR MY BROTHER!!"

A little odd that they did a PC version of IA but not this--I know this is Sandlot and that was some other team, of course, but you'd still expect from a publisher POV that they wouldn't backslide on SKU count.

How was IA, anyway?

Awful. No cheese value, missions way too long.

I don't like the new "Pale Wing". She looks ugly. :(

How was IA, anyway?

Bad. Missions were too long, EXP system in the game wasn't fun, most bugs had way too much HP. Only redeeming value is that the main character is voiced by Steve Blum.

This looks sick as hell, regardless.

This looks like it could be pretty damn fun to play, actually. Graphics and translations aren't always a great indicator of fun factor.

Question from someone who played EDF 2017 but not the other (sandlot) games in the series. Is the flying character balanced somehow? Is there still a reason for one co-op player to stay grounded or are they always going to be fighting over the flyer?

Well to be fair, the PC version of IA did come out much later than the console version. So who knows? Maybe there will be a PC version after the console version.

The type of weapons she uses is different from the ones used by the grunts. Shes actually a more difficult character to use personally. But you can become godlike if you know what you are doing lol

most of the trailer has slow down and in any other game that would be a deal breaker, but here's it's just part of the experience.

cannot wait for this. :D

She has an energy bar that powers her jet pack and weapons. So you have to carefully use flight, knowing it will come at the expense of your firepower.

The energy bar slowly regenerates. If you depleted the bar, you go into a cool down mode for 10 seconds where you can't fly or shoot. On higher difficulties, it usually means you die.

So yeah, she had a real risk/reward to her abilities. And playing as her make it feel like a new game.

PSA: EDF 2017 Portable on the Vita is worth buying the hardware for. It's spectacular. Even if you'd already rinsed the 360 version. Pale Wing, a few more levels, and an awesome online mode differentiate it from being a straight up port.

Looks amazingly low budget.

Likely day 1.

I'm not sure why you've ignored the possibility that the PC version of Insect Armageddon didn't do well enough to make D3 interested in pursuing that market again. It was a late port of a poorly received EDF game. Then again, the PC version of IA (heck, IA in general) may have been something that the US division made with the JP division not caring. Sandlot is a Japanese studio, the studio who made IA, Vicious Cycle, is American. One of those countries cares about PC gaming to a large degree, the other one doesn't.

Looks exactly like an EDF game to me, right down to the framerate tanking when things get hectic. Day one.

Hopefully they bring back EDF2's crazy final mothership boss, I want to spend half an hour single handedly taking on a boss the size of a city with thousands of mounted guns and lasers while in perpetual slowdown.

oh fuck. the engrish is so good.

this seriously looks like the best game ever. goty 2013 indeed. cannot wait for this. IA was such a disappointment. this will rectify things.

EDF! EDF!

PALEWING!

I officially cannot wait. Oh, i really, really, really want this now. Right NOW!
We bloody loved EDF 2017 co-op so this, this will be awesome.

Day 0.
I have enjoyed EDF 2047 game very much on my xbox360.
Hope I can co-op with the other three gaffers with this latest version.

She was very balanced in EDF2. Her weapons can be quite awkward (many are very short ranged or drain a ton of power) and while she can be very strong for a short time she can't be as consistent as the trooper. One example is the dodge roll that the trooper has, it's not amazing but it always works. The jetpack can move you faster than that but only while its energy lasts which isn't all that long. Her weapons also drain your energy so if you use her heavy weapons you will often be less mobile than the trooper and may need to stop firing for a while just to regain your mobility which the trooper never has to.

EDF with a br0-tastic filter. In other words, terrible. Completely missed the point about what makes EDF great. No sense of scale, emphasis on environment beauty/detailing and framerate rather than throwing as much in a low detail urban environment as you can until the engine gloriously breaks.

So glad Sandlot is on the case again. Also hoping they use the same dubbing/writing team from EDF 2017. They were magnificent. Doing on-purpose B-style cheese well is really, really hard. They did it *perfectly*.

Still waiting on the retail release for this bad boy :D. I desperately want this game haha.

Plus in EDF2 you could ride on the same vehicle, so a really fun scenario was to have one person driving the hover bike and another person (palewing) facing backwards taking out the monsters chasing the two of you on the bike, then you could launch palewing up and split the team, taking the monsters still chasing the guy on the bike from the freeway overpass you launched up to off the back of the bike.

(You could also stand on top of moving rotors on the helicopter while your buddy flew it around - so fun).
