Enslaved - GT Preview

Voice acting and animations look fantastic, as expected.
As someone who loved Heavenly Sword, I'm looking forward to this one!

Looks amazing, love the animation, combat looks rewarding and soundtrack sounds epic. Uncharted inspired free form platforming with no guns! Fast becoming my most wanted of 2010. Day 1.

Damn... UE3 really did them no favours, some of those textures are abismal oO

Funnily enough that female character models look pretty good, something new for UE3 games.

yea

the art and design looks good but but there's something very "unnatural" looking to it

Damn, another game I want to get. Just for Oct., Castlevania, Fable 3, Enslave, Fallout Vegas, Gothic 4 or Two Worlds, Medal of Honor and Vanquish.

This has been my most wanted game this year. Can't wait. I always felt Heavenly Sword was underrated. So I hope this does well for them.

The lack of hype or any sort of enthusiasm for this title is absolutely shocking. A creative, new IP that looks great and has received almost universal critical praise in previews and GAF doesn't give a shit.

Probably because their last creative, new, hyped IP was a bad game.

I was really impressed by this game at Gamescom, it's now one of the rare ones I'm actually forward to in the next months.

Blimblim, what'd you think of Heavenly Sword, just to get some perspective.

If this turns out to be a great game it'll be a shimmer of hope that DMC5 might not be the disaster that everyone is expecting.

I pretty much detested Heavenly Sword, bad gameplay, bad framerate, bad ingame animations way too often too. Cool looking cutscenes were not enough to save it.

Interesting. Are you allowed to talk about what clicked in the Enslaved demo or is there an NDA for gamescom impressions still?

No NDAs at all, I just watched our video of the first level and thought it looked good (with the usual UE3 issues not mitigated all the time, but still good), fun to play, and the story looks interesting too.
The video (in 3 parts) is here:

As someone who thought that Heavenly Sword was trash, I am cautiously optimistic.

Looks good, but this companies failing has never been presentation.

I missed out on Heavenly Sword because the gameplay seemed weak from the videos i used to form my opinion. I must say Enslaved is doing the exact opposite and ticking the right boxes. Much of my skepticim lifted after Gamespots e3 interview. Ninja Theory look like they learned alot from HS which they discuss in the interview.

HS was thier 1st game, focusing far too much on tech which impacted the gameplay and design. Part of the reason they went with U3 for Enslaved, to focus on the game and not the tech.

Just preordered this with amazon's new .99 release day shipping and got a 10 dollar off code when it ships. Can't wait! I really need to find a cheap copy of Heavenly Sword but for some reason it seems to have really held its value.

Judge by the name 'ninja theory' sounds like a group that fancy japanese things

but looks like they really into chinese literatures

I loved so many things in Heavenly Sword.... and Enslaved seems like a game I will love EVERYTHING in it!!!

This is my next big game.... and I'm pretty sure it will end up being one of my Favorite in this Generation.

I have so many faith and trust in Ninja Theory.... they just know how to get my attention and raise up my hype level.

I'm only afraid it will sell less than Heavenly sword.... this game should be a hit in sale because I know it will deserve it.

What you said. They should license out whatever tech they're using for lip syncing. It's second to none, and a lot of otherwise great games sure could use it.
Alan Wake!

I forgot this is coming out so soon; it'll be nice palette cleanser from all the G.I. Bro shooters this Fall.

I watched the preview, and while I was interested by some things in it, the gameplay aspect seems underwhelming. There doesn't seem to be any twist to it D= I hope they make it really fun smashing the baddies, at least.

i think this is the first time they've shown PS3 footage and with that amount of screen tearing i'm not surprised.

the game itself looks decent. unfortunately it's coming out at the wrong time and will be regulated to rental status.

It seems that production value is pretty high here, but I have to wonder how long the game is being that Heavenly Sword was notoriously short.

Pretty sure the texturing is not just UE3's fault, it's the developer's for the most part.

What is UE3's fault though is the shitty shadowmap resolution (shadow flickering) which plague all UE3 games I've seen. Really annoying.

Hmmmmmmmm......I was actually pretty impressed by what I saw in that preview.

It keeps on looking better and better the more I see it. Are they releasing a demo?

The problem is that the gameplay doesn't seem all that special, despite the production values.

Andy Serkis again? Damn...
