Looks like a $20 pickup.
I loved 2016 but cold on Eternal. I'll be giving this one a go as it looks to be a middle ground between the two.

You never know I might be finished with KCD2 by the time May comes round lol.

This looks fucking awful.

The UI might not be as garish as it was in Eternal but it’s still dogshit. Fortunately that will be customizable.

Gameplay looks boring, environment looks boring, enemies look boring, weapons look boring and less meaty than in the previous games.

I need to see more environments and some high level gameplay with the difficulty and speed ramped up, because this is starting to look like it will be the first Doom game I won’t buy at release.

I already didn’t like the direction they took with the art style and lore in Eternal and this may be even worse. Bringing Hugo in was a mistake IMO and I really hope id don’t make another Quake game while he works there.

Looks really good. However, I do have one worry, which is something GmanLives pointed out... the Dragon Riding sections:

Play at timestamp.

It.. doesn't look that good to me? and wtf are they doing with the flying bits? Just give us 2016 with more levels pls
I'm kind of with you on this, except I want the damage models they used for Eternal (or improve them). Hit feedback on enemies in 2016 wasn't great in my opinion. I liked watching them get torn apart by gunfire in the sequel. It helped me understand which enemies I had to prioritise. Also, who doesn't like watching the spawn of hell get blown to chunks?

The damage looked much better in the OG trailer, hopefully there is more like the stuff in the video below.

Should have made Eternal 2. I won't be following through with my pre-order.
I wouldn't have minded that, but Eternal filtered too many people.

Looking at the gameplay clips here... ammo management is a non-factor, it's slower, no platforming. All the major gameplay complaints people had with Eternal were addressed. Curious to see what the new complaints will be.

I'll buy it at full price....when it comes out on switch 2.

I won't play that version or the pc version I buy so I won't actually form an opinion.

This dragon stuff looks really bad. I think the rest looks pretty good.
Yeah, that's honestly the biggest concern I have. It just.... doesn't look good. I don't understand how they felt confident about it. I mean, G-Man talking about it made it sound pretty awful. The whole locking in place thing while shooting and dodging shots looks very odd in motion.

And this looks like its too much? Dont know how to explain it.
Looks like it's taking the worst from 2016 and Eternal on top of removing takedowns(lol why), adding shield and parry alongside bigger, largely empty maps, follow objective marker, and some spectacle setpiece Mech vs Kaiju and Panzer Dragoon sections which are particularly awful. It being slower and having slow moving projectiles just seems wrong.

And the amount of customizable accessibility options to make the game easier is just...ugh.

I also think the UI is all over the place and too high tech even more then before. Doing a quick comparison I much prefer the HUD design of Metroid Prime 4 if we were to compare something recent. Maybe if won't be as bad if we can turn most of that garbage off.

Doomwise I prefer either Doom 3 or Doom 2016 HUD over both Eternal and now Dark Ages.

1. Enemies, as opposed to 2016 and especially Eternal, are static. They barely move , they don't chase you. The pace is kind of lethargic so I got bored watching a few minutes into the gameplay video.
2. The move to an wide, open area , again as opposed to the more closed arenas of 2016 and Eternal, brings what exactly? Now when things get rough and you are overwhelmed, you can just run away. Thats lame.

Basically holding down the trigger while strafing at static enemies, doing the occasional green light parry, yes.

Honestly outside of maybe Astrobot both camps have been fairly mid imo

Third party have been my favorite games the last couple of years it seems
3rd party has always been the best, but that's kinda broad.

But apart from games not being up ones alley, Xbox' output is just extremely mediocre overall on per game basis.
The only exceptions are Forza and FlightSim, but the latter doesn't even really count as a game.

It's like Xbox is dedicated to GamePass so much, that their games have been degraded to GamePass filler.

Doom The Dark Ages doesn't seem to make a difference.

What a shame this series moved from horror sci-fi to horror fantasy. Just not the same. The first game was the shit. I want a Doom game to take place in two types of places - sci-fi settings and hell settings.

Still going to wait and see. On the fence about the price.

My main problem with these games is they seem to lack diversity and depth.

They seem to be a one trick pony and it just kind of gets boring to me
