Europe game sales 2024: dragon age TV, SW Outlaws, FF7 rebirth - all out of top 30

We often here that games like Final Fantasy only sell on playstation...

..but it doesn't seem like the playstation userbase are turning up to buy these games either.

A decade of bad decisions are coming home to roost for many developers, it makes perfect sense and I haven't seen a single recent case of a quality product being underappreciated, there's just less quality than before.

😂 yeah… the reason they are not a roaring profitable success is the elusive Xbox gamer that buys all games at launch and at full prices. Copium…

They're losing money more from Steam players. Steam is bigger than PlayStation and Xbox fanbase combined nowadays. So by having FF games came out on PS5 first, that really took the hype out of the Steam community. That's why FF games sold poorly on Steam

having bought/played all final fantasy games though final fantasy xiv, i haven't bought one since. while the series has obviously picked up younger generations of fans, I think that it's also managed to lose a number...

FF remaining fans are passionate and I can respect that... but the moderm FF games are dogshit bro. All of them.
I'm not even a huge FF fan. I've played a bunch of them, but I'm no super fan or anything......I just think Rebirth as a videogame is great.

No one cares about release dates. It always gets mentioned but then games that release at the same time also do poorly. It's just that FF has had too many bad games in a row. Funny how exclusivity is only a problem on PS but somehow it's fine on Nintendo. Shows you it's about gameplay more than being exclusive.

I feel like the most universally beloved thing about post-PS2 Final Fantasy is the FFXIII battle theme. Just the battle theme. People do like the battle system but just the game is a slog and written with so much uneeded lore jargon that has to keep being explained to remind people what these terms mean

These days I question whether enough people like how FF games are written or their visual art direction for how big of a budget these games get. The stories, I've barely played FFXIV and that's the one post-PS2 FF that seems to have near universal love for it. FFVII remake trilogy is one games story split in three. Narratively it's FF's Hobbit trilogy

IMO, one huge contributing factor is that there are simply way too many games available and coming out. As soon as you’re getting used to or want to purchase a new game, there’s another dozen games coming out the following week. There’s a reason why so many games have the proverbial huge backlog to deal with.

People sleeping on Rebirth is honestly disgusting.
Why? I’m playing it right recently, still a few chapters to go, 150+ hr in, dropped it today to play the golden idol (which is great). Honestly rebirth is an 8…if I’m being generous. It’s a very large, very pretty game, that is far too long and decidedly mid, and takes far too much inspiration from some of the worst gameplay tropes of Ubisoft games. I was expecting much better given the praise people throw its way.

A big shame for Rebirth.

Doubt I'll change anyone's mind but I freaking loved it.

I heard that word of mouth gave the game good legs but It may not he a wordwide thing... I also don't know how reliable that info was.

FF7 was my game of the year overall, enjoyed it and sunk a lot of time into it. I enjoyed Outlaws, especially once patched. But the game was fine for a Star Wars fan.

FF7 deserves so much more accolades and should never be used in the same sentenace as that shitfest Dragon game.

This is the worst part of the Remake Trilogy from a capitalist standpoint. Instead of making 1 game which would be much cheaper and faster to make and sell many copies, they decided to make 3 games, spend a lot more money, invest time and employee resources that could otherwise be used to make other games, and sell fewer copies making less money overall across 3 games. Square Enix was so blinded by their greed they quite literally chose the worst possible option when remaking FFVII
It's weird because on one hand I have to agree with you but at the same time, for me at least, Remake and Rebirth are teh best FF since IX. I think I would have been disappointed if the whole remake project would have been a 1:1 remake of the original. I like to be surprised and not knowing exactly how everything is gonna play out.

Fraud Of The Year is not even in discussion about sales charts.

XIII is the beginning of the collapse. XIV is for a different audience than the single-player main series.

P.S. Unless FF VII is your first RPG it comes across as embarrassingly poorly written.

The game pretty much lost its steam now everywhere, especially when it is still only on Playstation 5 and that various RPGs like Dragon Quest III HD2D and Metaphor: ReFantazio are released too.

PC Version Boost will help but I don't expect a miracle.

Going to keep the positive WoM going, it may not be much but I really love the game and want more games like this.

Of course it won’t be a miracle for FF7 Rebirth now since it is a late port. Fans on PC have moved on to other newer RPGs in the meantime. Square Enix self sabotaged here.

The PC port here will at least salvage a little of the reputation and financial hit they took for the exclusivity on Playstation.

Figure sales of games like those are almost entirely due to Switch.

This shows that there is a healthy pool of active RPG fans on Switch, and further proofs that FF7 Remake and Rebirth should come to Switch 2.

Europeans buy max 2-3 games a year. They are cheap and poor. Not many can spend 80 euros for a game. That's why they buy only fifa and COD 😆
