F1 2015 is a racing game based on the 2015 Formula One season developed and published by Codemasters. It is the seventh Formula One game produced by the studio. It is due to be released on July 10, 2015, and will feature the team and driver line-ups from the 2015 season, including the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.

It will also feature all the drivers, cars and circuits from the 2014 season as bonus content. It is the first title developed by Codemasters to be released for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

The game will run on an all-new version of the EGO game engine, providing a large number of improvements to the game's physics models. It will feature an all-new "Pro Season" mode that is said to be more challenging than the normal gameplay because there would be no HUD and no assist, which includes traction and transmission, with the hardest level possible.

The game will also be compatible with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One's voice recognition software, allowing players to talk to their race engineers during the race and ask for race information, weather updates, and tyre status, and even request a change of tyres or wing.

I wanted to dominate the living room. Then I took an ESRAM in the knee.

The worst thing about the game is that we are putting even more money in Bernie's pockets by buying it.

Great OP. Just waiting for the game to finish installation on my PS4.

Question: If I'm im the U.S. can I change my Xbox store to get the game early?

From the Gamesradar review:
No career mode. No season challenge. No rival system. No online co-op. No champions mode. No classic content. No split screen. No functional safety car. No motorhome. No paddock. No TV interviews... The list goes on.

Yikes. Seems like it's a rather barebones release compared to the previous games. What's there though sounds promising, every preview/review I read and video I watched people mention it handles much better than F1 2014. Hopefully it can serve as the basis for future, more feature-rich F1 games.

Sadly that wont work. Your best bet would be to buy from the Singapore store. Cheapest and available to play now.

The story is the same as with other annual sports franchises when they made the jump to next-gen. Their limited resources were spent on building a new engine. There was apparently not much left for porting all features.

I hope that the core driving is good. 60fps is a good start, even if the graphics are not really spectacular and show some tearing. I hope that the game doesn't dip too much in more demanding settings like Monaco in the rain.

Will be my first F1 game so the missing features don't really matter to me. Just looking forward to the sim mode (or whatever it's called) and to play online.

That title tho. Amazing.

Great OT! Just had my first few laps and honestly, I'm impressed with the handling. I'll add more impressions later.

Using a Thrustmaster TX with TM Leather 28 GT wheel and T3PA pedals on Xbox One btw.

How accurately do they simulate Renault engines?

Not time for such features. If you want to simulate that yourself, just throw a dice, and if you roll a 1 or a 2 pour a glass of water into your gaming system of choice.

Renting this one, no way am I paying full price for a half featured game

I fully understand that. I wasn't sure about the purchase myself. At the same time I am thinking to myself that unless I support a franchise that is somewhat niche and plagued by licensing costs, it might get killed off or moved to a developer with even less resources.

Allright. Here's my config:

Intel I5 4690K @ 3.9GHz
Asus Strix GTX 970
16 GB ram
Windows 7.
Game installed on HDD

Game runs at 60 FPS everything on max at 1080P.

Here are the graphic settings.

How is the gpu usage ? :)

Hasn't gone over 80%, no OC and memory usage at 3270MB.
Please note that SMAA+TAA makes the game blurry as hell, so I'm looking for better AA right now in NCP.

EDIT: GPU Usage more at 50% than 80 actually. Read the graphics wrong.

Nice OT.

Should receive my PS4 copy tomorrow. Despite the lack of content as long as the gameplay and AI are good I won't care much at all. 90% of my time spent on F1 2010-2013 was on quick races anyway.

Yeah, "yikes" indeed. What's more staggering is that Codies are proving themselves solid devs by what they've put out already in Dirt Rally. But we should've known better... they've been cutting features from the games since they followed up 2010.

Was hoping this was going to turn the series around, too.

But if you support the franchise staying with Codemasters, you're contributing to some other dev missing out on the opportunity of creating a solid game. At least they'd show Codies a thing or two.

If only Activision had picked up the license so many years ago and given it to Bizarre to develop :(

losing features sucks, but it frequently happens when a licensed sports game jumps to a new generation. They have to pay for a license and release a product each year, this happens even with a larger developer like EA. 2016 will presumably be more packed as they can just add to this foundation.

If the racing is good, then I can live with that. Pcars has horrible issues but can be tolerated. Codemasters has also added some neat things people have been asking to be included for years.

I wonder who people want to pick up the license if not Codemasters. Sony let it go because Bernie wanted like $15 million a year for it, who knows if codemasters is paying more than that now.

I applaude some of the effects going on here, that DHL sign has a rather realistic reflection going on and just feels right, some of the more gentle lighting in areas also helps the visuals.

Perhaps a platform-exclusive dev with big publisher backing (like from Sony or MS)? I know it's not ideal, but at least they'd have the funds to do it justice rather than just fart out another diluted, cut-back iteration of the same game they've been releasing for the last five years.

Realistically, I could only see a British studio tackle it. In the past that could've been Studio Liverpool, but now perhaps it could be Playground, Sumo, maybe even Lucid (as being largely staffed by ex-Bizarre crew)? Turn 10 maybe, but with MS intent on seeing FM games released every two years, it's doubtful they'd have the manpower.

Edit: I hope there's a skin update for the Williams livery, such a load of shit they can't use the Martini colours :/

Didn't driveclub have it's share of issues? Also, Sony gave up the license because it cost too much.

It's an alcohol product. I don't see why they can't at least use the official livery Williams uses in the middle east.

I thought Driveclub mostly suffered due to all the online stuff? most of EVO's other games have been pretty solid.
Not sure how much the F1 license would be now but with the market share, it could possibly be worth it depending on how many sales the PS4 version of F1 2015 gets.

I think it would be shitty for it to go console exclusive though. I have an xb1 and love having forza 6, pcars, horizon 2, and f1.

Put some laps in in Melbourne with the DS4 controller (no assists except traction control on medium and ABS on). Feels pretty good! Compared to the last F1 game from Codemasters I played the car and the steerings feels heavier, which I like.

/edit: Some further observations.

- On the PS4 the graphics are serviceable.
- Framerate is stable in cockpit/TV pod view on the tracks I've tested so far. However, there is at times slight judder in chase cam view.
- There is mild tearing.
- AA is good. There is virtually no pixel shimmering. The employed AA solution seems to blur the image quite a bit. But that looks fine at high speeds.
- Tyres do indeed lock up under braking, but the smoke effect is very, very subtle. It's only really visible in chase cam view.
- The sound is great.

Put in about 3 hours on the XO version.

Rock solid framerate and it feels really nice to drive. Also, saw two AI cars retire (without me being the cause) in a 15-lap race, which is new given that in every other version, AI retirements have been a rarity.

That said, it was 2 retirements at a rain-sodden Melbourne, with full damage. Couldn't tell why they retired without watching a replay of the whole race, as it doesn't tell you anywhere. No overlays in replays either, so you kinda need to guess who you're watching. Despite the retirements, there was no safety car or yellow flags either. Realism.

Race director whines on CONSTANTLY unless you change a setting, but doesn't seem to be able to say "Maldonado has retired, his engine has blown" or anything like that. Crap like "Rosberg takes the lead" every two minutes when you're in 18th in a Manor is always handy though.

No career mode is absolutely unforgivable. The "Championship Season" mode allows you to pick any car at all and race it as a real F1 driver (you can't just create a driver.) This mode even comes with team instructions and expectations...but they absolutely 100% do not matter. Not even for achievements. I beat my first team expectation and got the only achievement relating to it, so now they're utterly pointless given that you can't be fired, can't be hired by better teams, and even if you were to get promoted to be the #1 driver for the team, it wouldn't matter as there's no R&D or long term plan.

You race the season, then it ends. Then you start a brand new one if you want.

Quite how Codemasters keeps screwing things up like this every...single...year...is beyond me. It isn't just the "new engine" either. Every version has SOME massive oversight. Previously, it's been the AI not needing to pit, or being able to lap faster on heavily worn tyres. Or it's been the lack of AI retirements. Or it's been the lack of a current-gen version.

Online play seems stable enough. Raced 6 short races of an 8 race online season, then my points for those six races suddenly got wiped for no reason, so I finished last in the standings. Oh, and when you race online you're referred to as your gamertag in all the menus and standings, but during the post-race, the commentator refers to you as the professional driver you're driving as. If two of you choose the same team, you're both considered to be the same driver. Watching two Lewis Hamiltons turn up on the podium in first and second place every other online race is going to be fun.

Tons of little things like that. Go into Time Trial...choose a track...get to the screen (which is still part of the menu system) that allows you to choose assists and stuff, and there's no "back" option. Only thing you can do is start the session or reboot your game. Entire game is really slapdash apart from when you're actually racing, when it's only minorly slapdash.

Still, Codemasters have confirmed that they won't be adding a career mode as DLC. They went as far as to say that it'll be in F1 2016.

Two days before F1 2015 launched.

Fuck 'em.

I wanted to dominate the living room. Then I took an ESRAM in the knee.
Another thing, Williams F1 is missing the Martini logo and the red strips. What the hell... Legal issues with advertisement for booze?

What if Sony could get it back and get Evolution to make the game?
I would not be unhappy if Evo did it. Clearly they know their racing games and have aesthetics down pat (compared to Codies, who can't seem to design a UI to save themselves).

I think it would be shitty for it to go console exclusive though. I have an xb1 and bought a wheel to use with forza 6, pcars, horizon 2, and f1.
Maybe, but I'd prefer a single-console version that doesn't hold back rather than one that has to be compromised (both in performance and development time) for it to be shoehorned onto multiple platforms. For example:

I get the feeling if they didn't have to release it across three platforms, more could've been added to the game. Or they could've just done what I'd suggested they do AGES AGO and skipped a season and released a fully fleshed out title a few months later.

Not surprised. I wish they would just concentrate on getting the basics right... do they not test these things?

Are you fucking serious? This should be added to the OP. Something along the lines of: "Career mode: See: F1 2016".
God, they do something right with Dirt Rally then they pull shit like that.

Yup I'm sure. Just like they couldn't put cigarette ads back in the days.

Would probably require an alcohol rating with the ESRB/PEGI.
