I grew up hitting up the arcade which had a machine by the school every day for years. The anime wasn't great at all but it was a treat to watch. And nothing beats the greatness of the Initial D soundtrack, nothing!

I agree. By the last season, I scrubbed through most of the cases and stayed mostly for Hugh Laurie.

That said, some person dying of some rare medical condition is more quote-unquote "interesting" (to emphasize my skepticism ) to watch than a dude figuring out why the teacher got his lesson plan mixed up.

Isn't the whole reason people say "quote-unquote" in real life to specify they are gonna cite something textually? Why would you write down "quote-unquote" and then proceed with the actual quote in quotation marks in an internet post?

Popularity doesn't really imply quality. Hell, SAO had around a 9 or so on MAL before a single episode had aired. I'm enjoying SAO still, but it's been quite disappointing.
