Yeah, I noticed that a number of people have been picking this game up lately. What's up with that? Has interest been on an uptick because one of the devs worked on Phantom Breaker, or is it just renewed interest in a solid game that's been around for a while or something?

It was released on PSN awhile ago, no? It's always been on my list every since it was released but it was hard to get a copy unless you visited Japan. I should run that tournament at NWM next year.

according to the list of international players attending evo, he's unconfirmed.
i hope he goes though as i can see him doing really well at this year's evo.

Yeah, it hit the Japanese Playstation Store back in 2011. It's just that I didn't hear much buzz about it until just a few months ago. Then again, I don't browse forums as much as I used to, I might have just missed the hype.
It's cool though, Final BURNING is a good game.
Running Vergil/Doom/Strider in any order. Still playing regularly, won the last two TRBs but finished 2nd the two before. Not currently working in the game industry.
Actually feeling confident this year. I'll at least do better than last year, which was my poorest evo performance ever. Got a year of Vergil experience this time :0
I've been trolling the resident Hawk players on GGPO with Fei. There is literally nothing he can do to a meaty HK chicken wing in the corner and it is absolutely hilarious to see them get a taste of their own loop medicine
The game is pretty much figured out. You can make a guess as to who 5-6 of the players in top 8 can be at this point. There's less reason for the average player to compete if they know Rog, Champ, Wong, Chris G, and Flocker will likely take up the majority of top spots. Marvel is getting to the point where only people who play the game religiously will enter.
Other than a character reveal for KI, aaaaand possibly (unlikely) KOFXIV? nah.

The local Fei player showed me this at NWM. That meaty HK Chicken Wing is cheap shit against Hawk, lol. He's basically untouchable and hawk can't do shit against it. I wish he had Condor Spire in ST, lol.
People need to stop being so consumed by numbers or which game is dead or not. Unless you're an organizer, then why does it matter?

Even so, there's more people playing fighting games now than there were 4-5 years ago if you look at tournaments overall instead of dwelling on the negative, and outside of Smash and Street Fighter, Marvel will still be the most popular game at majors.
Marvel end game is getting boring, so it's up to the players to step it up and make the game exciting again.

You guys have to remember, Tekken gets 80% of its income from Arcade revenue. The next Tekken reveal will be at an Asia related event where the majority of its community resides. The last time a Tekken was revealed outside of Asia was T5.0... back when America still had arcades. T5DR, T6, T6BR, TTT2 were all revealed at TGS/AOU/SBO.

Last year's numbers were inflated. EVO was 3 months after release so you still had the players trying it out deciding if they were going to stick with it and players from other communities who enter everything when a game is new. Now a year old it's settled into it's normal area.
I'm fine with the Injustice number. It's about what I expected. Killer Instinct is a big surprise. Impressive.

Man, the contingent that Japan is sending is incredible.
Most disappointing no-shows: Nemo, Uryo, Neurosis (don't think he ever comes to US though)
If we ever get an MvC4, I want Blade in as the Marvel Trenchcoat/Guns/Swords character.

I don't. What I do know is Harada isn't apart of that project and the existence of that game doesn't mean a tekken game isn't in pre-production at the very least. These games probably share coders and people doing the grunt work but I don't think they share designers, producers, and directors.

imo, the only person who isn't 'beatable' in the same way as every other 'god tier' player of the game in tournament is chris g. he's got the combination of team and skill to minimalize the mistakes and possibilities for victory that occur during the regular course of the game. morrigan/missiles/vergil is a disgusting, disgusting team and it equally disgusts me that in my mind the only 'solid' way to even contest it is with other characters i despise (vergil and zero on point)
i think everyone else is beatable by local/"unknown" high-level players. the issue being that a lot of those guys don't have as much tourney experience so they mess up somewhere due to nerves and lose what should've been a winning match
if someone like justin magically attuned himself to how zmc operates it'd be the same deal but thankfully nobody at that player skill level has really attuned themselves to a zero team like that yet. flocker's the closest they got as representation but even then that's not quite jwong/pr rog level of player skill happening there
Michael Murray is definitely working on Incarnates so we know at least part of the tekken team is involved with that game. And we know part of the tekken team is also helping with smash bros and potentially Pokken.
With TKxSf, however, there has been conflicting information with some Harada and Mark man tweets hinting at something for evo and others doing the opposite.
We'll find out at EVO but I'm really hoping for even a teaser trailer.

Are there any teams that you 100% always run Strider on point against? Your whole team looks like it has start of the round problems against the monsters like Wolverine.

Mago started with Chun in Ultra. There were a lot of players who are trying new characters in Ultra. Uryo has been grinding Decapre on his stream too, so who knows who he's playing right now.

Google Translate says that he thinks Ultra is fun, but he hasn't been using a lot of Sakura. He's been using a lot of Chun Li, Poison, Viper, and other characters.
Yeah, like Sayah said, Micheal Murray is a clear outlier, he was a minor designer in T6 graduating to a major one for TTT2 and he's now heavily involved with Rise of Incarnates. And let's not forget which Tekken staff is currently working on Smash Bros WiiU as well. And then that's before the Pokken game that's rumored everywhere.
In the end, there are a ton of projects Namco are working on that isn't Tekken related taking more priority. It's in everyone's best interest to not anticipate anything Tekken related for a while.
