Didn't Tekken have like 700 people signed up for it in 2010? Then they banned Duel Shocks & it was never the same it seems. That's like the only thing people play Tekken on, It's like banning the TE for SF & Marvel. Tekken probably wouldn't get 700 if Duel Shock was allowed but it would def increase #s a lot.
Still seems like a shitty reason for people to not show up. You can easily use a wired Dualshock 2 with an adapter...

Looks like KOF is stacked again with internationals.

Korea is there in full force again as well as numerous great Japanese players like Dune, Pam, Oeppu and more. Then there's BubblanAB7 from Europe, Xia Hai from China etc.

Last year's second place Woo is coming again as well but no runback since Reynald can't attend.

And Tokido is a legit threat this time going by his recent tournament performances.

Here's hoping some Latin American players like Misterio, Toshi etc. show up too.

They banned all dual shocks or DS3s?

According to some guy on twitter (jiyuna), Evo registration is down by nearly 800 entrants compared to last year. Is this correct? I don't trust his math. Also, how many people usually register on the day of the event?
Less games this years, doesn't necessarily mean less people are going, though it could be the case.

Seeeeiiiiittt (Japan about to body USF4, someone get smug in the ROSAT). I'm taking the Monday after evo ends off from work (cause fuck being central time and going to work tired after USF4 ends at 3am. Glade I'm not east coast though. You guys have it worse).

This is going to one hype EVO.

The streams will be unwatchable lag and crashfests. Calling it now.

I don't think that's taking into account unique entrants either. There could be more people coming but also more people who registered for one game too. Marvel getting less popular and MK9 not on the roster deflates the numbers a bit.

That international list is pretty big.

I can't make it to EVO this year. Kinda sad about it, lol. First time missing it in a few years,

I will be stream monstering it up in the evo thread and eating Costco pizza.

As long as twitch doesn't shit out because of LoL, then I'm good (Dat LUS Fiber).
Odds are twitch will crash while smug is playing a hype match thats close.... the smuGAF fans will cry tears lol (me included)

I saw Kurosu and thought it was Kusoru. That would've been something.

Lots of Japanese coming for BBCP... looks like yet another year US doesn't win in an anime game.

Wow, JP players flying over just for Skullgirls, Darkstalker, and SF2. Craziness. Looks like a lot of new JP Marvel players, too.

Im sure there is some difference in feel. I know for a fact PS1 pads didn't feel anything like Ps2. It's also kinda silly to ask someone to buy a convertor & a brand new controller for ONE tournament. Correct me if Im wrong but EVERY OTHER MAJOR allows DS3s right? If you hear a tournament wont allow you to use the controller you practice on everyday, chances are you wont want to go to it. It also hurts casual tournament goers turn out too since Im sure most casual Tekken players play at home with thier home controllers.

Wow, 9 Japanese Smash players! I don't recall ever having that many at a tournament in... forever. Might not seem like a lot but typically only 1 or 2 make it out to the US for big tournaments like APEX.

yea i'm actually surprised by that

PS1 non-Dual Shock is a sexy beast. I still have one for the odd air dasher.

That was harsh, but at least he didn't insult us again. =D

It was directed at me, but it's no big deal. I pissed him off back in March by saying he probably shouldn't call Full Schedule a "douche". And apparently he disapproves of me sharing some relatively common knowledge about how Evo runs.

Yea, I hate to say it but that looks to be the case, especially with the game BB. In persona 4 arena where I actually felt we had a shot, the north american BB community doesn't seem that strong or even terribly interested in the game like they was with P4A. I blame kokopuffs.

Wow, Inuchiyo making it out for Skullgirls. I've been watching his match videos for a while now. He didn't come out last year did he? I look forward to someone playing Fortune again (I can't believe I just typed that out).

Unless he dropped her too, in which case RIP Fortune army

Wizard is a jackass, nothing new there.

Marvel entry numbers are laughable though. Almost getting beaten by a decade old game.

Inuchiyo was top 8 last year

Worse can be said for the other games on the list aside from USF4. I think it's a testament to the resilience of the smash community more than anything else.

Oh the Smash community has been killing it for years and are finally getting credit for it now. I just think it's funny how people are so desperate in saying Marvel isn't dying, then it loses a quarter of its entries from 2013.

Kusoru mentioned the Evo deadline on twitter last night though...

Impressive Street Fighter numbers, equally impressive pot. Going to be one hell of a competition this year. I might actually partake in some side bets for the first time in a while, got that Vegas itch.

I wonder if USFIV will break the 200 000+ viewers barrier? I think it easily could given the rating momentum that Smash and Marvel 3 should be able to generate. It's going to be Smash + Marvel 3 + Ultra to close out sunday, so it's all about being on time. Keep KOF XIII in check so the top 8 or 4 doesn't take 3 hours. :p

The only games not dying are SF4 and smash then , essentially

Is "dying" really the correct word here? There is no doubt a drop in EVO Marvel attendance, but saying it's dying seems a bit ridiculous to me. Maybe it's the "not a marvel fan" in you that sees that desparation in defending it while the marvel fan in me sees your desparation in attacking it.

okay, then how about "not healthy"? i don't know about "desperate" but losing a quarter of it's entries year over year isn't a good look.
