seems like the slightly lower scores is due to light RPG element, which im fine because I already expected the game to be less RPG.

Waiting for my Day 1 copy now :3

Well I guess that's the direction it will go from now on, can't change the world.

It's the final step of a transformation that started after FFX.

Damn I thought this forum was overblowing reviewers holding it to some imaginary FF standard. But here we are, where "not my FF RPG heritage" is a review headline lol
Nope, it's literally every score below like 80 that says the same thing. Without these blinders on for some people, the game would easily be scoring a 95 right now.

They actually did it. A brand new singleplayer Final Fantasy that doesn't suck.

Shocked Vince Mcmahon GIF
You forgot FFVII, I see.

By the way, don't forget about this guy. One of the few YouTubers I can trust.
I also recommend you suscribe to him if you want some positivity in your life.

Reviews are great.

Polygon and Eurogamer dragging down the game predictably so metacritic will probably be under 90, a shame as the devs worked asses off with this and went flat out. FFXVI being held up to higher standards unfairly, whilst GOW Ragnarock gets a free pass for its medioctrity and gets dished out 10s galore. 🤡

I was with you until you wrote this shit. WTF?!?

I'd already pre-ordered (I only do it for the Steelbook, I swear!) but very happy to see the game delivering. Just here to see the overall consensus, time to go dark until I can play it meself.

Dumb question, but does changing armor not change the character's appearance? Seems like he basically wears the same thing (depending on his age?) in the footage I've seen

I don't understand why so much obsession with the Metacritic score, it's as if 89 to 90 were something distant, from another world. The score seems more important than the release of the game itself. They are different opinions, there will always be some dissonance.

The important thing here is that, for the most part, the game is fantastic and I can't wait to play it.

Pretty great reviews so far. Predictably higher than the baffling 81 Metacritic score FFXV received back in 2016.
It will probably settle at 87 or 88 just like FF7R did.

FFXVI - 'Fantasy'

They wrote this article because 2.5% of the people voted in favor of the boycott. 97.5% of the people voted that they are not gonna boycott. 😄

And they've nuked the ENTIRE comment section that was politely asking them to remove this hit-piece and get better at reporting.

Gotta laugh at reviews who gush and praise and then dock the game points because of what it doesn't do.

Some games can get away with not doing everything, others don't it seems.

lol people just wanna see something theyre into do well. This is like saying "I dont understand why fans of this sports team want said sports team to win"

Eurogamer 3/5, doubtless.because:

"The world is also conspicuous for its ethnic homogeneity..." Whine whine cry.

Jesus. They never give it a rest do they, the clowns.

What a surprise! Sony exclusive and EG, nothing is more consistent.

Funny Eurogamer anecdote. An old forum account of mine that got shadowbanned there for pointing out the illogicality of their stance about Kingdom Come: Deliverance back in 2018 suddenly started generating "like" alerts again about a week ago.

Coincidence, or are they dipping back into their traditional bait-posting mode for FFXVI?

I was literally just watching a stream and stream chat was going crazy with 'FF16 getting mixed reviews'.
I come on here and its had a very good 88 MC. God people are so silly these days.

88!

What a flop! a whole 1 point below the game Im loving right now...Diablo IV....

What a shambles square!

Looks like an incredible action game.

Yeah of course, we are not speaking of a game with over 30 years of heritage.
30 years of reminding people that each numbered title essentially acts like a new IP, but it's sadly pretty clear a lot of people nowadays are too stupid to understand this ridiculously simple concept.

I knew some outlets wouldn't go out of their way to actually rate it for what it is. Final fantasy can't catch a break.

According ElAnalistaDebits the performance mode is not better with day one patch, and some areas after in the game the performance is worse than the Demo

I understand, but that's not what I meant. It is the obsession with a specific number, above 90. It seems that anything below that is bad. If the final grade drops to 88, 89, it will be sad for some, as if it were a terrible grade.

It's like saying that winning 1-0 is too bad, we'll have to win 3-0.

Diablo 4 is at 86 on PC which is where most of the reviews are.

Not that it matters. This isn't about vs Diablo.

Sure.

Keep telling yourself that lol if you try harder can become even a reality

Anything above a 90 is basically a modern day classic and will def get more sales. My comparison still applies, its just now its kinda like youre saying "idk why fans of this sports team can't just be happy they made the playoffs. Why do they want so bad for them to win the championship?"

There is always an attention whore outlet that gives a score way lower just to get clicks and that ruins the aggregated score. Maybe they're paid by the competition. Who knows
