This is one of those games that's been on my wishlist for a while and I never buy it because I'd rather have it for the Switch 2 than the PS5. Same with Unicorn Overlord.

They are one of my all time favourite devs out there. I'm currently fucking obsessed with Unicorn overlord, currently put over 300 + hours in to the game.

I also want to replay 13 Sentinels again….to this day I still think about that game.

Five fucking years already? Jaysus

Great game, it was like a less psychotic Bokurano. The strategy segments were meh but the visual novelish segments were aces... though a bit too twisted for its own good.

Fantastic game, and one of the best stories gaming has ever produced. Been meaning to do a replay of it sometime soon. Maybe in the next year.

I want muramasa in switch or ps5

The game was 7/10 for me which is weird because I usually like visual novels.

I found the story nonsensical and way too confusing and the ending twist was just ok.

The combat sections sucked because everything was a dot (your units and enemies). There were no 2D mech/enemy sprites or 3D mech/enemy models.

However, its graphics/style/music were all top-notch.

I'm sorry, but for me it was not the Holy Grail of JRPGs like some of you consider it to be.

I still remember the Yoko Taro interview

Can you share a message to the fans that are looking forward to the release of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim?

Yoko Taro: "I think you must buy this game! The reason for that is—in order to keep the existence of this Japanese national treasure of a company known as Vanillaware, they must sell as many copies possible. I don't care whether games of other companies sell, and I really wouldn't care at all if Atlus were to go under! However, Vanillaware games are the one thing we can't lose in Japan, so let's all buy 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim!"

I'm kind of worried that the current generation of 4K textures will make it harder for Vanillaware to produce their games.

They don't necessarily have to strive for 4K textures, they can easily stick to their style and everything will be fine, many games use pixel graphics, 2D graphics and don't chase 4K. There was already one case when the developers chased "Technology" and as a result the game only lost from it, I used to be a fan of the Disgaea series, and exactly at that moment when they abandoned their style and switched from 2D to 3D I stopped playing games of this series =)

My biggest gripe. They could have done some great 2d art to go with it, but it was really meh visually.
They put all their resource into the story.

The same case happened with Ar tonelico 3. They were too focused on creating the dynamic song system, making the story and the battle subpar.

It's an excellent game and I highly recommend it if anyone hasn't picked it up yet.

This also reminds me that I really hope we can get a modern port of Muramasa some day.

This game is really tied into the pandemic for me, I had two days off work sick in early 2021 and absolutely blasted it.

I didn't like it much. The beginning is great when the plot is still a mystery but once you know whats going on it becomes a lot less interesting. Then it just completely falls off a cliff when you get to the guy's storylines which are all mostly blah to awful.

Played this on Extra earlier this year and was so blown away by how good it was. Incredible story and way it was delivered. The only thing I wanted is for the amazing art to be more present in the mech sections. So good I recently ordered a physical copy for Switch.

This game is my yakisoba pan angel.

Since you're a big Vanillaware fan, by any chance do you have the Vanillaware Official Art Book - Vanilla Mania?

It contains a bunch of dope illustrations and concept art from most Vanillware games including 13 Sentinels.

Yaki…soba…pan….

2/3 through the plot begins to meander a bit too wildly for me. Also there were probably 3-4 too many characters by the end, but it still is now a positive memory.

I got this in digital format for Switch but I haven't finished it. I did enjoy what I have played so far and I think I have like 1/3 or less left but there was a section that was kind of confusing and it kind of drained me a bit after.

Also, I got Octopath Traveler II and started playing that.

Very unique and memorable game! Like others mentioned, the combat sections were meh but the visual novel part was great. I think the story was about 20% longer than it needed to be, but it kept me interested all the way to end.

It's the first Vanillaware game that I love and they followed it up with another game I love. Their output is like Studio Ghibli as even if I don't like the end product, I still buy them for the lush and wonderful art.

Is this just a visual novel? I always see it get praised but if it's a animated book then I'm not really interested. I read enough books outside of gaming as it is lol.
