Thanks to the event including Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Ice Spice and finally the homage to Juice Wrld.

Rerun is at 8pm eastern time tonight. Here's the even for anyone interested:

No wonder a lot of developers wanted to be the new Fortnite.

Here's a good video to explain the almost death of fortnite to a complete success. And who would've thought, Tencent kind of saved it (maybe)

To put this insane CCU number into context, there are currently 9.1 million Steam users playing games across the entire platform - https://steamdb.info/charts/

So that means the Epic Games Store just overtook Steam in terms of concurrent users?

I don't play fortnite or follow it, but even i tuned in today. That was so well done. Wish more games did events like this.
Was this your first Fortnite event?
They’re always of Epic proportions.

The game itself is bigger than any ever, they can do more in a single season than any other game can do in a year, COD included.

My son is 12. He's been playing for 4 years off and on. Inexplicably, he got back into the game last month and completed the battle pass. He was telling me all week hiw excited he was for the new season and this event thing. He set his alarm and got up early to get online and queue with friends. My wife said he had a hard time getting to sleep last night because he was so excited. He's been in his room all day playing with his friends, shouting and laughing.

I don't get Fortnite, but I do get being an excited kid and having fun, so I'm happy for him.

Meanwhile, I'm playing Sekiro...

I do kind of hate it too.
It means a huge chunk of people are ok with 1 game.(which is fine)
Different publishers/developers are stuck in trying to fight for their time. Means more attempts/failures to have what Fortnite has. If Fortnite didn’t exist what would that mean for games, genres, output and direction of this industry.
(at the end of the day trivial what ifs)
If it didn't exist, I bet halo, resistance, Killzone, socom, warhawk, old school battlefield, etc... Would all still exist and have single and multiplayer. But no instead we have this shit slipped into cod. Weed skins, mtx and ho Manage skins. Plus shit music where the youth idolozes mumble rappers and shitty ass pop. I miss the 80s and 90s where doom, quake, and rock/metal reigned supreme.

Fortnite is fun. I get that people hate it because annoying little kids love it, but the no build mode is great to kill a couple of hours on. It's not as sweaty as Warzone or PUBG, and you can kind of just wander about hunting for guns and getting into skirmishes with randoms. It's pretty good.
I would like to get into some of your lobbies, mines always sweat ppl these last few seasons.but yeah,it's fun when you get into normal lobbies.

UT died for this shit ☹️
Dont remind me. Was my got to shooter back in the early 2000s. Both ut99 and 2004 rocked. I loved those maps and the fast paced arena with announcer. So infuriating that we have nothing like this today. Sure I can go play with bots, but it's not the same. Quake 3/live is too many ultra skilled players, it's like going on counter strike, lol yeah not going to happen.

Unreal 3 sucked ass though. Bunch of gear of war looking bulky characters. I did like the hover boards though, (I am remembering that right?).

We don't even get battlefield/warhawk style or socom, shit we don't get 3rd person cover shooters either. If it wasn't for stalker 2, this Gen would suck for single player fps and multiplayer is all battle royal bs so I don't touch it.

I wouldn't mind fortnite of I knew other games like unreal tournament were still being made.

Maybe I'm just so shit at the game that I only get matched with people who are shit, or shitter, than me. I'm okay with that.

As someone who doesn't play Fortnite, how does this event work?

It's a digital concert? Are you still shooting eachother in a battle royale while Juice World is playing? Or is there no shooting, and you just enjoy the vibes?

It's a separated map. No combat, just the digital concert.

Every generation has a bad game that they love. Our generation had cod. Theirs is fortnite.

TBH, i felt the same way about mario growing up in the 90s. i was like wtf is this trash and why does everyone love it. i was a contra and streets of rage guy myself and just never understood the popularity of a fucking plumber jumping around. 35 years on, and watching Astrobot get goty nominations, nothing has changed.

I haven’t really played all year, but the new season looks nice and the winter fest freebies will keep me engaged over the holidays. See you all in zero build!

Fortnite is a great video game. I don't get the hate. I dont play it because i dont want to get sucked in to the microtransaction hole, but the no build mode is genuinely very fun. The open world is fun to explore and just fuck around in.

The character designs for the IP are some of their best designs in general.
It's easy for people to hate on Fortnite for various reasons. I was definitely one of those people until they introduced Zero Build—I never cared for the building mechanics. But after giving it a shot, it didn’t take long to understand how and why the game became so successful.

It's a free to play game with the most impressive roadmap I’ve ever seen. The sheer amount of content that evolves dramatically with each season keeps it feeling fresh. Add in new battle passes, store items, and major IP collaborations, and it all starts to make sense. On top of that, they've introduced the LEGO survival game, their racing game, and content akin to Rock Band—all for free. It’s incredible. And when you factor in the user created content, it's even crazier.

It’s easy to associate it with kids and zoomers, but it’s clear they’re also targeting older generations. They consistently include classic IPs that younger audiences might not even recognize, like Evil Dead, Predator, Edward Scissorhands, Indiana Jones, Terminator 2, Robocop, and a lot more.

I'll never forgive Epic for burying Unreal Tournament. Especially the way they did it. But I do appreciate them adding Zero Build to Fortnite, lol.
