Forza Horizon 5 |OT| Are you a Mexican, or a Mexican't?

@Kagey K got too hyped and took a temp until the 12th...

And nothing of value was lost.

Back on topic, I adore so much about Forza Horizons 5… except the Drivatars. They seriously need to just do away with these things. They are always fugly, serve no purpose other than to bloat the rewards with meaningless shit, and they look the worst they ever have.
Playground should focus on what people actually play these games for: the cars, the beautiful locales, and the great diversity in terms of moment to moment gameplay.

A few questions for you guys:
1. Is the story terrible like in 4?
2. How is the dirt racing? More or less than 4?
3. Are there a bunch of challenges regarding skill points like in 4, or mostly just races?

Drivatars as in ML based Ai or those characters for your virtual representation? I strongly disagree if it's the first option, Drivatars actually makes the racing fun. The second options, well I agree with that.

I bought the Ferrari 599xx thinking it was the best car in the game; turns out it's the Koenigsegg Jesko.

Bloody hell.

1. Yea. It's more prevalent too. Hope you enjoy hearing NPCs blabber on because it's constant.
2. Dirt racing is ok. Maybe better than 3 or 4? I honestly can't say for sure but it feels good with the right car. Controls are still a little too squirrelly at times.
3. The new system is called accolades and it's robust as fuck. Tons of categories and certain accolades give you prizes.

Does anyone have the latest user numbers? asking for a friend.

they were at 700k last time i saw it posted. wondering if it has hit 1 million by now.

On a side note, I was having a glitch that made a mission objective stay on the screen indefinitely. I went into Drone Mode and when I came back it cleared the objective notice.

Oh, second option compeletely. As an AI system, I enjoy Drivatars. As character customization, it serves no point and actively hinders the product. It's not fun leveling up and getting some random worthless character customization item that you will *never* use and rarely ever see. It's only reason for existing is to pad out play time so players continue to grind out levels in order to get what they actually want. Personally I would rather just get nothing instead of the stupid character items.

I jumped on the $100 Ultimate version but damn, the online service is a freaking mess. Tried to play with my son(who's in the same house and we have a 1 gig internet connection).
Couldn't even connect via convoy. My only theory is that their servers are getting absolutely slammed, the game has numerous bugs in the online component or they simply lack the
number of servers for the crush of players(surely closing in on 1 million "Ultimate" owners already). Once the regular game hits next week, good luck trying to play on line.

All that said, FREAKING INCREDIBLE GAME. A "Game of the Year" contender for me for sure. Playground knows how to optimize their games. I'm on a Nvidia 2080 Founder's Edition, Windows 10(64 bit),
32 gig memory and Dell 1440p Gsync 165hz gaming monitor with everything cranked to their highest settings(ultra or extreme) and getting 70fps+ at all times. That's again *with* ray tracing on the
highest setting as well.

Thanks. I actually love the dirt racing in 4, and absolutely hate the skill points in 4. "Go to the quarry and earn 25,000 points."

Now that I have all the assists off, manual trans on and several tuned up cars in my garage, I can confidently say that this is a fun video game.

Love seeing Playground Games go the Capcom route with references to other franchises. I hope this becomes a thing with first party games this gen.

Naughty Dog does it quite a few times too. In both TLOU games you can find a PS3 with Uncharted and Jak and Daxter game cases on a table in the earlier start of the games.

I was driving this big ass truck by the spillway and I went into some branches and a weird physics glitch grabbed the truck and pulled it up into the tree, almost like a spider catching it's prey in a web and wrapping it up.

Yeah there aee some quirky physics stuff happening. I nudged a buried boat on the beach and we got tangled together and my car got ass blasted upside down.

Got the Lambo Sesto Elemento FE from a wheel spin and after downloading Don Joewon Song's tune for it, yeah, this thing is insane. It has no business handling as well as it does at those speeds.

Can it not be turned off/muted? This is a breaker for me and buying a series s.

To be honest I tune out during the cut scenes and they are not very long. In game during a race and the sound of the cars and hospital radio is so loud I can sometimes hear them talk, but can't hear what nonsense they are saying lol

EDIT: to answer your question directly: Not sure sorry.

drone mode? how do you access that?

so all the hard to get ones are not supposed to be got with cars? did wonder about that on F4 because i couldnt see any ramps or jumps near some
Drone mode is accessed from one of the tabs in the pause menu. I don't think you can use the drone to collect boards as far as I am aware. Plus, you can't actually lift them very high from the ground (which is weird for a drone but it was the same in previous games).

Sorry went out last night will get you today if someone else hasn't.

That's not even the hard one. :)

Jump from the hill directly on the other side

Wait until you find the wire hanging in a power line

Are you guys using your skill points ? Think I have about 50 racked up and not spent a single one. I try to use a different car every race to don't see the point in spending them. What do you do ??

Yes, you will be able to spend season points in Forzathone shop (once it opens on the 9th presumably),

Nothing happened, I just saw his top speed in motorway speed trap and I'm like DAMN SON. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Thanks. Is all tuning just basically picking the component which increase the HP the most lol

I'm really enjoying my time with the game, but I do find the amount of options and modes overwhelming. I joined an eliminator mode and literally didn't have a clue what I was doing! Then you have the npc's constantly asking you to do this and do that, go here and go there - honestly, my map is already peppered with races and god knows what. I'd have personally preferred a more slow and steady progression system. This isn't a criticism btw, it's just how the amount of stuff to do, so early in the game, overwhelms me personally.

I think my only minor criticism of the game is that it seems like it wasn't designed with newbies in mind. I know most of the single player stuff is self explanatory, but the online stuff is baffling. What the hell is convoy? I've joined a Club, but to what end? I've found the club leaderboards, so I'm guessing we all contribute to an overall score? I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually.

Other than that, it's a really enjoyable racer. The visuals are superb (I continued with quality mode because it seems smooth enough to me) and the audio is also great, though some of the music seems to have been used a lot in other racers recently, like Dirt 5.

I've turned off racing lines because I hate that stuff and I'm repeating races until I get the 1st position before I move on. My fave races are point to point street races, weaving in and out of traffic, which reminds me of the NFS game on the 3DO.

Oh, one other small criticism. The replays. When you have such amazing visuals, it seems a shame to have such poor replays. I'd have loved to have watched some of my races with a proper replay mode, with cameras moving independently from close to far cams. Instead we only get to choose from limited camera positions, most of which are utterly pointless. Maybe I am missing something?

One thing that did please me greatly, was the option to buy a home that allowed me to fast travel to any road. Such a godsend! *

* though you do need to pay around 9000 cr each time lol
