But I can agree but Wayne has more classic mixtapes than albums (C1-C2). His early Dedication Drought and No ceilings are solid.

Sure, as I can't deny his incredible influence on rap; how many of our favorite rappers of this day owe a debt to his style that he pioneered. I still can't stand Tha Carter albums, but its personal taste that needs to be set aside when giving props. I actually like earlier Cash Money stuff more, mostly for Mannie Fresh who has become one of my favorite producers (despite how bad the lyrics are in most Cash Money albums).

And for what it's worth, tell the dust heads that their favorite rappers love Wayne.

I hate that feeling. When your fav artist at the time in your life is undoubtably killing the rap scene then he releases a project that wasn't up to par/a sign of bad things to come/all good things come to end. I'd imagine it's how a lot of fans reacted to Views. Lol.

Yeah, I've been falling out of love with Drake this year too and he's been one of my favorite artists since '09. Even hearing about him and all that corny beef shit annoys me.

Drake should learn to go away. In his case specifically I could see it working wonders.

I'm not sure why he thinks he needs constant attention and why he thinks that his music needs to be in constant rotation. I wonder how his recent rapid fire output has affected his fanbase.

If anything, his schedule of releasing hits will have broadened his casual fanbase, while pushing away sections of his hardcore one. In short, Drake's transitioning from a hip-hop artist to a pop star. He checks in on hip-hop every now and then with the "__ PM In ____" tracks and his team-ups with trap stars, but it feels like he's trying to dominate both worlds, rather successfully mind you.

But, even though he's arguably running both games, he's not making music that's going to last, in my view. VIEWS, compared to something that actually feels timeless like "Blonde", feels like a by-product of the trap & tropical house wave that Drake's riding. It's nothing like "Take Care", where his beats felt distinct and each song felt like a Drake song not a Drake riding the popular wave song. VIEWS may be the first sign Drake's given up being an artist in favor of being popular, and his fanbase has been gaining a lot more pop Drake fans while losing the "So Far Gone" / "Take Care"-era ones.

Wayne is in his prime was dropping more music,faster than Drake. I honestly don't think it matters especially in this era when people wants something new every single day.

The last 2 or 3 years have been unarguably Drake's most successful period, his fanbase keeps growing, his music is selling & charting higher & higher, he's selling out back to back to back dates MSG & O2. He's about to take Wayne's' most appearances on the hot 100' record too.

I'm not a big fan of his but his strategy/marketing has been ridiculously successful.

On Torre's point, I don't even think he's losing any of his OG fans, there's no way to measure this but on the popular forums & twitter you see just as many people claiming to be day 1s & the pop drake fans.

Em and Wayne are not one of mine, neither is Gucci Mane for that matter. But I'm not going to deny their influence or just how beloved they are.

I don't know why, but I always forget he's not making the beats on his own. The first thing I associated him with when I first heard of him was that he's a producer-rapper. Strange.

But I think it's fair to say he's still very hands-on on the production and song-building of his songs even if the base beats might not be his. See this making-of video of Skyfall with Metro Boomin (one of the SOTYs for me in '14):

my worst fear about new Tribe Called Quest was that it would be some sad retread of Midnight Maruders or Low End Theory, so Im happy to be wrong on that even though its clearly their sound.
