I find it hard to believe a developer such as DICE would voluntarily allow their product to be embarrassed by a sony exclusive, when they have the ability to not be.

Especially if the gimped platform is the lead platform..it makes no long term sense for a developer.

If anything, it would be smarter to make the leading platform shine and the otherone not, so that sales go more towards one version, so you can shift assets to it and make it even better..and kill off the lagging platform so you dont waste time and PR money on it...but I am way WAY to far down the wormhole with that theory...right?

Not surprised actually, when I read about the rather complex OS set-up the X1 had, I figured it's abstraction layer would similarly complex, and likely less efficient than the competitions. If Microsoft also applied that design philosophy to their drivers, then it's no wonder.

None of this should really come as a shock though. Microsoft really hasn't pushed efficiency for awhile, after all.

As for Microsoft, "handicapping," the competition, yeah that is pretty much par for the course for Microsoft. That companies corporate culture has long since, "scoffed," at the idea of actually competing, which is why they throw so much money around and use their weight to bully themselves into what they perceive to be favorable positions.

It doesn't work though, companies that don't compete always eventually fall apart. This is why Microsoft tends to enter markets, rise to astronomic heights, and then slowly fall apart. They stop competing, and then laziness and general entropy slowly pulls them apart.

Well judging from Sony's partnership on Ubi and Activision titles, I'd imagine this will (if it even happens) mainly be an issue with EA games. That's just speculation, of course.

It just doesn't make sense. The ps4 versions of multipat games will be available in more areas and have the potential to reach more customers during this launch period. MS, to me, doesn't seem to have much say in this. They are in a much weaker position going into this launch.

Meh they won't change. Its a business decision. Make multiplatform games comparable so that you don't waste money trying really hard to optimize for one console. An drastically different game on one console versus another won't move more units for you so why bother. Make them comparable and move on.
