Gamefly 90 day free trial

As far as I know, the service works like Netflix. They give you stamp-paid envelopes to ship the games back to them and stuff. Damn, this is one hell of a deal!

Ok, I took me all of 30 seconds to cave in and sign up. I really really hope I don't get addicted to this. I'm holding you personally responsible if I do, Wario64. And I expect you to pay my bill. :p

If you sign up today, the trial will expire on Sept 29th. That's so damn long. Free video games for the summer! Best deal of the year

Dear Kevin,

Thank you for trying GameFly! Best Buy and GameFly have teamed up to offer
you a 90 day Free Trial. Your paid subscription plan will automatically
begin on 9/19/04.

WTF? I can't believe we're the only two talking in this thread.

This is going to wreck my school work, heh.

That means more games for us!!

The black man everyone at Activision can agree on
I already have a 1 game at a subscription it's allowing me to sample games that I missed during release to see if I want to pick them up.

Just to clarify: is this code really supposed to be for everyone to use? Or is it really supposed to be for Best Buy Emlpyees only?

Nope, I'm rather tempted by this too.

My problem is that pesky thing called "work" could get in the way.

Now, I can keep these as long as I want, correct? GBA games for rent, I can sneak in some playing time at work on those.

Tried Gamefly before, for 3 free months that's too sweet to pass up.

Be warned though, it's an ABSOLUTE BITCH to cancel w/ the Customer Service. Don't be fooled, you cannot cancel thru website, it'll just reference their CS phone #.

HOLY CRAP!

WARIO64, lord of sales and promos.

Now I can't say no anymore. HERE I COME!

edit: oh, am I supposed to work at Best Buy or something?

I dont know, but I don't think they can cancel our subscriptions after we sign up :)

I find this deal unbelievable

they can and will delay your "subscription" if you dont qualify.

i once took advantage of their free 10 day trail, then i subscribed for a month and cancelled. then, about 4 months later i signed up again under the 10 day trial. it all went through but then i got an email saying i had already used my 10 day trial and that if i wanted to continue with the service i could and they would charge me there, or i could just cancel it. i did it for another month. great service, this sounds fishy though

There is no qualification, this is being given out in dvd cases at Best Buy apparantly. I wonder if Gamefly even has enough copies of games to even do this deal

Hmm, I went thru the link and it said it was only free for 10 days. I'll wait for an email and see....

edit: Duh :\

Yeah you're suppose to click on redeem. Thent it says you qualify for a 90 day trial in big letters in the next screen

Uh oh, someone on CAG reported that his account got cancelled about 30 minutes after signing up. Hope this doesn't mean what I think it means!

Oh no...that can't be.

Edit: You probably shouldn't sign up so fast. They probably suspect something. Imagine twenty new accounts appearing at once.

shpankey

not an idiot
How many games can we have out at one time?

Also, now that I'm signed up, how and where do I "check out" a game?

I'm sure it's more than 20. Try over a 100 :p

I think this was posted on gamefaqs.com too...

$50/hour, but no kissing on the lips and colors must be pre-separated
Thank you sir, you truly are the real cheapass gamer. Just signed up myself, where's the harm? I'm sure they're going to get flooded with account requests, so it'd be prudent to sign up now...

Yeah, I don't see any harm in this. If it doesn't work, it'll just get cancelled, no biggie. Just don't keep your hopes up though. I'll be watching my account closely

This hasn't been posted on fatwallet.com yet, so I dont think there's too many people signing up...by too many, I mean in the thousands :p

Yup, they shut it down. I figured that was going to happen. Like I said, they probably suspected something when a mass of people started signing up. Now, they've decided to expire it, probably for a few days or indefinatly. I'm aiming for the latter.

Oh well, I'm still going to sign up.

Its not that bad a service. I got them for a month when I got my xbox.
What sucks is, if you live on the east coast, it takes a good 4 to 5 days to get them. Netflix is next day.

you snooze, you loose... code is expired :(

sometimes if you copy and paste url instead of following link (they will blacklist "coupon" forums) the coupons or codes will work. Unfortunately it didn't this time.

I've used almost all of the online game rental sites and Gamefly was the hardest to cancel your subscription from. You have to call them by phone and they want a specific reason.

They were also the slowest service that I used. I've tried out 10-15 different online services.

{EDIT: Just remembered they also try to throw a million different special deals at you on the phone to keep you as a subscriber instead of just letting you cancel. It's pretty obvious the customer service reps are told to do anything they can to keep you as a customer. Other online game rental services are not like this.

Hollywood Video has a gamer summer pass thingy?

Yah, $20 for 30 days, but only one game at a time. $35 gets you 2 games. BB is a better deal, but Hollywood is a lot closer to me.
