Geforce 50-series. Are you ready?

Hopefully we get a pleasant surprise and those specs are actually the 5070 and a solid in-betweener card is actually the 5080. Hope...

There's no way the full-sized xxx03 chip is used for a 5070 or even a 5070 Ti

The full-sized AD103 became the 4080 SUPER

I’m not sure what to do, I currently have a 3080 and a ryzen 5 3700x I’m looking at completely updating my cpu but will have to buy a mobo and ram to supplement it, or keep the old stuff and get a 5080.
Would be easier just to update bios and slot in a 5700X3D. Assuming your motherboard can be updated to support Zen 3. They can be found pretty cheap on Amazon or AliExpress. Can even sell off your 3700X for a bit to fund the upgrade.

If you intend on gaming upgrading to best GPU (that suits your budget) is always better once you get a somewhat decent system and CPU.

Me upgrading from the 4090 will depend on a few things

1- ( most importantly ) is there a software exclusive tied to the 5000 series? Usually, they stick with new features for 2 generations. DLSS came with 2000, and stayed with 3000, but the 4000 series got Frame generation, in general, the 5000 shouldn't have something that is not available for 4000 users. especially when there is no need for Nvidia to release it exclusively since AMD is out of high-end market.

2- how much more powerful is the 5090 to 4090, it looks like around 70 to 80% more powerful. That's a good number to upgrade to. also, what is the performance difference between 4090 and 5080? IMO i think the 4090 will hold its value and will be more in demand than the 5080 if the performance is only 10% as this doesn't count for shit. but 16 gigs to 24 gigs is more important IMO.

3- The price. 32gig GDDR7 for the 5090 I am going to assume this is at least around 2000$ US. That is $ 2700$ CAD plus tax, now we are talking about 3000+ for me for the FE if i am lucky to get one of these.

I wouldn't pay this much for a video card even if the future my gaming is on the line. just to be outclassed by a TI or a super 1 or 2 years after.

My brother needed a helping hand with building a PC back in January. I pulled the 3800x out of my machine and gave it to him, then I bought a 5800x 3D and dropped it in. I saw a solid increase in CyberPunk and Hogwarts (the two most demanding games I own). I'm sure buying a new board, RAM, and a 7800x 3D would be even better, but that's a lot more money.

I would look at the 5700x 3D. It's a relatively cheap drop-in that would buy you another year or two on your current board.

Coming from my current 1660 super, im stoked to see how are gonna perform the 5050s and 5060s models to see which one would be chosen one to upgrade.

I'll just stick a "5" over the "4" of my 4090 and i'll be done with it.

Free upgrade, no FOMO, $2000 spared EZ !

I have a 4090 and I probably won't buy a new graphics card until I completely skip mortgage payments buying a house :p

I have an RTX 4070 currently, not gonna upgrade for now, also. I'm curious what DLSS 4.0 will bring to the table and if its gonna be exclusive to the 50xx series.
Same boat. Don't really see the point in upgrading for a decent while, seeing as it can pretty much play everything I want the way I want at the moment anyway.

Picked up a 4070 Super recently, as I needed a card to get me through until the 5090 comes out. After using a 7700 xt for a while, the difference was quite huge, especially because of dat sweet dlss and frame Gen.
Very excited to see what the 50-series offers in this regard, as dlss 4 is surely a given for those cards. (And it will probably be available only on the 50-series cards too)
In the same boat after my 3090 crapped out. On a 4070 until the 5090 surfaces. If i can get a non scalped card ill be building a new rig from scratch. Im ready.

I'm sitting here gaming for hours on my RTX 3090 (350 watts) with the power capped at 80% in a room with the door closed and ceiling fan on medium and I'm sweaty and can feel my shirt sticking to me.
I can't imagine what it's going to be like if the 5090 really does use 600 watts...

Earlier we used to plan proper air-flow in the PC cabinet, now we need to plan proper air-flow in the whole room.
Master race baby! :p

Get an air conditioner or a lower power GPU. My undervolted and overclocked 4070Ti maxes out at 175-180W, full utilisation.

Planning on getting a 5080 and doing a custom power curve to get stock performance at significant less power. No way I'm having a space heater in my gaming room lol.

I wonder if Nvidia planted some of these “$2000+” rumors so that it can be perceived as a win when the MSRP is $1799 or something

It's nVidia, there's always going to be skepticism on the pricing. Esp when their costs should be decently higher.

Guess I shouldn't rule out some shenanigans where the MSRP is "low" but they make a grand total of 2 units at that price.

Most places, yes.

I dunno. I would say that it will sell out but there should be time to get an order in (assuming you are OK with the price). Just don't dawdle.

I'm still rocking a 3080. Cyberpunk 2077 was what made me upgrade from a 1070 before that.

Probably won't be getting a 5000 series card, unless there's a Cyberpunk-like game that pushes graphics the next level.

For now, modders unlocking AMD frame gen + DLSS has been working well enough that I can play nearly all games I'm interested in at 4k 60fps.

I'm kinda just waiting to see what the price/performance difference between a 4080 Super and 5070 will be.

I currently have a 3070ti. Also keen to see if there will be DLSS 4 with locked features in the 5000 series to also help my upgrade decision

I don't think it would be a big enough of an upgrade. But that's just my opinion.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Would love to upgrade my 3060 to a 5080, but I'm not sure if a) it would physically fit in my case or b) I have enough money to buy one. Heard they are going to be like $1,500.

I have a 4060 Ti 8GB and the 8GBs really hurt new games. I will get a 5080 at 24GBs and not update again for the next 4 years as well.

Main problem i got with the 5090 the wattage, my 350w 3080 already made my room toasty before so not looking forwards towards a 600w blasting furnace.
