The performance deserves to be called out all day long. And it does. I haven't encountered a single review that didn't point out the bad performance. But slamming the developers for the simple act of asking for data is unnecessary and malicious. Especially for someone with such a huge following.

I almost posted about Nick but a lot of the people talking bout him are doing so abstractly to avoid blowback, so I didn't want to cause that to happen. Also figured I'd Ben deserved time to talk to Nick or whatever, in case he didn't know.
Kessler posted on twitter a couple hours back "I'm so fucking furious" with no other context, and Nicks been silent for 5 hours.
Austin was signal boosting a lot of the grumbling about Nick with retweets and stuff, and I trust Austin. A lot of other friends of the site/smart people were corroborating this stuff.

You restart your playthrough and make sure Eileen doesn't die.
If you're one on one, the NPC hunters are probably the hardest fights in the game. Easiest way to deal with them is bait them with charged attacks so they get up close to you and walk right into it. Also just entirely depends on which weapon you are using. Could learn to parry him since abusing parries is one of the "easiest" (e.g. most consistent) way through the game.
Henryk is probably the easiest of the NPC hunters that you will end up fighting and it's mostly because you hopefully would have had Eileen drawing his aggro which lets you just attack his back the whole time. The easiest way to make sure the fight goes well with Eileen is to go there literally right after you talked to Eileen outside the church and backtrack to Oedon's Tomb.

JSRF rules, but I wish they'd put the movement and trick system into a game that plays out more like the original.
Man, it's hard not to just post the entries from my thread when someone mentions a game in it.
I am kinda serious about restarting, though. It is kind of a frustrating thing to do but doing that opening few bosses (depending whether you also did Old Yharnam before Amelia) can actually be super short especially if you have gotten the hang of the combat.
Otherwise, one on one, it'll be a mix of learning the general AI habits (that you can abuse such as them always coming to attack you when you do a heavy charged attack), which weapon you are using (spin2win hunter's axe does work especially when you are kinda new), and finally just learning the gun parry timing. Henryk doesn't have any of the more annoying stuff the later NPC hunters have so he is actually probably a decent one to try and learn the parry timing.

Well that's a lot of heavy shit all the sudden. I'll wait till we have confirmation before passing judgement, but that is some damning stuff. I know nothing about Nick. I watched GB when he interned there, but haven't followed anything he did since then. I know he does stuff with Griffin on Polygon.
This game was packed in when I got my xbox, and I literally didn't know how to get out of the first area and thought it was trash.

It makes me fucking furious that this swoop-haired fraud uses his bare sliver of popularity to make other people's lives shittier, so, yeah, I can imagine Matt and Ben are having a rough time right now. Cultivating an audience based on inclusiveness and acceptance and then using that clout to scare your victims into silence is pretty fucking heinous.
I would like a new release of it, if only to reaffirm how I feel about it 15 years after I originally played it. I found it to be a really disappointing sequel. The music was good though.

BRUH. I remember the first area being crap since it was tutorial. The game just has such amazing style, music and a decent through-line for a story

I remember talk of that issue back then but I don't think it bothered me much. Anyway, JSRF is a fine game and all, but changes to the gameplay were not to my liking. Specifically the alterations to the tagging and cops and level layouts were not improvements to me.
But, I am (much) older now and I may need to revisit both games sometime.

Yeah, I saw people from Riot, People like Austin and Gita Jackson from Kotaku speak up about this on Twitter. What a fucking bummer. Hoping Ben and Griffin coment on this soon since seemingly the whole industry was aware of this. And especially with Griffin I find it hard to believe he wasn't :/

The Switch version of Overcooked is apparently having some issues. Robinson tweeted talking shit about the game and people who dislike him say that he creeps on women in the gaming industry by messaging them a lot or something like that. Somebody also claimed that he creeped on their underage friend. I don't think I've seen any proof of it yet, no discriminating screenshots, but at this point it seems pretty likely that the guy is a douche. He also used to intern during the whiskey media days and is now working at Polygon.
