I know. I just ended up randomly generating characters till I found something I liked. I then went and edited the appearance and stats from there.
I thought that it would at least describe the country of origin for the grandparents and parents....not just "grandparent 5".
You would think with two extra weeks it wouldn't fuck up like this.
Well I'm sure they will fix it soon.
So I've been playing for a couple hours. Pretty fun so far but nothing amazing. It's very disorganized. Deathmatch is not very good. Lock on aiming makes it very boring. Races are fun. Free-roam is the most fun still. I haven't been able to play any of the missions with other people yet but they seem pretty plain so far just playing by myself.
Once they introduce big heists it should get better.

Yeah...you lose your weapons too. Reloading an earlier save fixes this as you said.

Been playing since about 8, so for the past 4 hours. Not much connection issues although they did exist. I'm finding this dull as fuck. The missions are pretty flat so far and the gameplay modes the usual. The money system seems broke as fuck due to the fact that if you die, they withdraw money from your bank account and a lot of it. You lose around $900 if you have roughly 20k, every time you die. Due to the fact that you seemingly die pretty easily, this is a pain more than anything else.

so is the casino usable for anything online, anybody? i was hoping they were saving that for online since u would be able to cheat it in SP....or are there any 'new' activities like that which weren't in SP?

After about a half hour of trying I was finally able to get in (360 version). It was lot of fun just running around and causing chaos, robbing convenient stores and customizing my character. However, when I got to the first deathmatch type mission, the game was stuck on the lobby screen and wouldn't load the match. After about 10 minutes of waiting I quit to dashboard, loaded up the single player and found out that all of Trevor's weapons were gone. So hopefully they patch that.

Are both versions corrupting single player saves when trying to access the online mode?
I think I may just not bother even trying to play the multiplayer until they have fixed some of these issues.

Nope. I thought so too. Maybe you lose less or something but I've definitely lost a few thousand straight out of my bank account.

The losing money is your "Hospital/Medical bills", just like all previous GTAs.
When it's corrupting single player saves or disrupting your progress and inventory in it then people more than have a right to complain and be angry. If I had my 65 hour save file corrupted I would trade the game in tomorrow and wait for a next gen or PC version. I would be so demoralized it would be months before I'd be able to summon enough willpower to play the game again anyway.

Correct. Some people were under the impression, as I was, that if it was in your account then you could reduce the amount you pay. Nope. So if you get in a shootout with someone and win but die due to the police intervening then you still have to cough up money.
having an 8 year head start on building a proper foundation with a static set of maps for an online community that rejoins the game every year is a lot easier (and predictable) than a giant open world game where anything can happen and pushes things a lot further than a CoD game does currently.

What? No, I doubt it. The single player should've been evaluated separately / scored as it was.
This should also be evaluated when it's functional. Until then, I don't want to read what it's supposed to do/vs. how it should work.

How could this possibly be a surprise to anyone? lol. I had success seeing the opening of the Online Mode by going into the In Game Menu, then Online, then GTA Online and then Create Solo Session. This allowed me to see the intro of everything ( pretty cool seeing my GAF shirt in a cutscene! ). The first thing the game wants you to do is get into a race, and this is mandatory, except well ... it errors out when attempting the first race.
So, oh well. Hopefully tonight it is stable. Now the family is up and my day off will be spent doing other stuff.
