This one looks good

Assuming this game will use UE5 they should halve this level of graphics fedilty in real time in ps5 pro I don't know why they use cgi.
yeah after seeing what UE5 can do in the matrix cutscenes, there is zero reason to have cg trailers. housemarque has now gone 4 years without showing a game and their first trailer is cg? fuck off.

i bet they are still on ue4 just like FF7 rebirth and will phone in another mediocre looking game. par for the course from the major western studios.

Are all the impressive games of the show in ue5 and not from sony? :lollipop_squinting:
they work on their own engines. housemarque is the only one who used UE4 but my guess is that sony forced them to use decima to save on costs.

tbh, even if they upgrade their engines to support ray tracing, virtualized geometry and destruction, its no guarantee that they will look as good as UE5 games. Just look at AC Shadows, it has everything and still looks a gen behind. FF7 uses mesh shaders, star wars outlaws, and avatar do it too (at least on consoles) and even alan wake 2, yet nanite is just in another league. So even if sony studios claim they are supporting all these fancy new features, i dont know if they will ever match let alone exceed ue5.

one thing i will say is that despite hundreds of games shown at the state of play, nothing comes close to the cutscene direction, character animation, facial expressions etc of the Intergallactic trailer. ND and Sony studios are just in another league and even UE5's metahuman tech isnt helping these smaller studios get there. So my guess is that sony studios will compete on art design, cutscene direction, mocap and storytelling going forward.

This looks fucking great. Wow

Another no name studio out of China producing top notch visuals on their first try at an AAA game. Speaks wonders for the lack of talent throughout the rest of the world in this industry. They are moving the needle out there, won't be long before a bunch of the top most graphically impressive studios are based in China. Hell its already started, I think they take over next gen. All of their games look great and have above average animation too.

Also pumped for SuperMassives game, there were a few solid looking games here. I liked the show

I hope they at least use UE5 or decima, also it's sad that ds2 didn't have trailer in that sop

Yeah the game can look a bit rough with lots of closer-to-none low detail assets here and there. I remember some ppl asked the director on chinese Weibo about it,he basically said they were having trouble optimizing the asset streaming process properly and had to cut short on these things to hit the deadlines, and without nvidia and epic's huge efforts and supports the game would look way worse, considering game science is still a less-skilled fresh new blood in the aaa industry after all.
Guess this is part of the reason why despite using path tracing or whatever advanced fancy stuff, the game is actually not very vram demanding at all even comparing to last-gen assets rooted titles like path tracing cp2077,let alone indie jones, which is pretty shame tbh.

Remedy's released their roadmap. Nothing this year except for that dumb pve game. Max Payne 1/2 remake early next year, and then Control 2 in 2027. Far more productive than some first party studios.

Alan Wake 2 had its issues but was a gorgeous game. I am really excited to see Max Payne on this engine. An actual game with a lot of combat.

Shame Control 2 is basically in the last year of the generation because i wanted to see next gen destruction. Maybe Max Payne will have that. A few areas in Alan Wake 2 had destruction but limited to a very specific enemy type. I want to see more of that but through out the game.

Control 2 in 2027.
Control 2 has the potential to be the most advanced game ever made, right alongside GTA 6. I wouldn’t worry about it releasing on current gen hardware, as we saw what Remedy were able to accomplish with the first game having been developed on slow HDDs and anemic CPUs. With the sheer amount of fast memory, still very capable CPUs, and much faster storage solutions available, Control 2 is going to sing on this gen of consoles and high end PCs.

I’m hoping it’ll make the first game’s destruction look tame by comparison, and that is currently the standard for me. The last year of a generation is typically the best of the best, with 7th gen giving us Halo 4, and The Last of Us, and the 8th gen giving us the likes of Uncharted 4, Gears 5, and Control, to name a few.

I’m confident that the sequel is going to blow us away.

AC Shadows PC features confirms RTGI, RT Reflections, and Virtualized Geometry.

I dont know why despite all these things it looks cross gen as fuck lol. Lighting is so goddamn important. Shouldve gone for a more realistic look.

Still, destruction, different seasons/weather, lots of new particle effects, great looking hair, on paper, this sounds amazing and next gen, but it just doesnt look it. Going to get it day one though. maybe it just doesnt showcase well on youtube. Lets hope the AC Black Flag remake and AC Hex are going for a more photorealistic look than this.

I think it's shitty Ubisoft animation ruining all immersion.

Just started playing KCD2 after finishing the first game.
Game looks really gorgeous, I added DLSS4 Transformer Modell to it and RTX HDR because the game doesnt support HDR natively, also some ReShade.
It runs in 4K Ultrawide and also runs very good!

Is there an official ingame option implementation of dlss4 or you have to do all the bullshit with the app, inspector and ldss swapper??

I swear i'm never gonna try this fucking transformer model if they don't put an ingame toggle...

Just use the nvidia app. Its really simple, im using DLSS4 since release

I heard the nvidia app is a performance hog and i like to have a clean pc without any superfluos app installed (windows 11 already eat resources with its 39437284273482748274728427 process already opened in the background).

Hopefully nvidia get their heads out of their asses and offer an ingame toggle for people who don't enjoy having to do extra steps with external stuff.

Dunno man i dont think you'll notice any performance difference with or without the app. Just use it :D

I heard too many people having problems making it work even with the app and i don't have time to waste trying to make shit work, i'm too noob and lazy when it comes to this shit.

They put an ingame toggle in some games like w3 and cyberpunk so i'm sure they are gonna do it for future games aswell.

Chinese I guess? They're gonna be a major force of gaming in the next decade. Fucking insane the graphics they get out on first attempts.
Yups even 10years ago no1 would believe us if we claimed some unknown chinese studios gonna produce games looking better(or at least very comparable) from top sony first party devs, and yet here we are xD

Dlss4 can’t handle foliage all that well. I tried it in kingdom come and it adds weird artifacts on distant trees. It’s not as bad as black myth’s foliage which straight up looks like pssr with all the shimmering but its there. Not to mention it comes with a slight performance hit as well.

I say hold off until its officially patched in. I’m guessing the model needs more training on foliage and other objects. The zebra crossings in cyberpunk, the distant geometry in space marine 2 and all the issues with certain types of foliage just shows it’s not quite ready.

Oh yeah i'm not in a hurry, people are just making me curious with all those uber praises.

The performance hit is only if you use quality mode but apparently perf mode now look on par or better than old quality so balance mode is probably gonna be the best out of the 2.

DF review of Avowed is suprisingly positive given how utterly awful it looks in other reviews, but they did use hardware lumen footage from the PC version.

Performance is much better than other UE5 games with only rare stutters. Though Alex's 3600 is awful in this game, even worse than it was in Starfield. That Zen 2 lineup didnt age well at all. My intel CPU from the same gen took on Starfield like a champ and mostly does fine with UE5 so im hoping i can at least hit 60 fps with hardware lumen.

Since this is UE5.3, you are getting nanite foliage so no pop-in on trees outside of some rare instances on the ground. Game mostly runs at 1080p 60 fps on the xbox series x so its a decent step up from the 720p-860p-ish performance of previously released UE5 games on consoles. AND this is open world so it should be far more taxing. Sucks that they werent able to get the game running on 5.4 which good a massive CPU boost and even better hardware lumen performance.

Game does look great in this footage with a lot of really nice looking areas, but like I said, other reviews have some of the fugliest purple looking worlds ive ever seen. Still, Im curious to try it out so will rent it on gamepass.

bit offtopic but remember infamous john's tweet about hogwarts and how it sucks and he wont cover it coz its open world, avoved seems pretty open world to me too, yet its fine to cover it somehow ;D

The more stark problem is how static everything is, can't interact with citizens in any way, can't move any props around, everything is bolted down.

mmmmmh the gameplay is nothing to write home about render-tech wise.
Bog standard actually. You can see the usual raster issues like glowing objects/bad AO despite UE5, so I guess they`ve really scaled down lumen or are using the software variant.
The assets seem good but not exceptional so far, and in the rather narrow scenery I can`t really tell how much work Nanite is doing here in keeping LOD transitions invisible.

A shame that everything that really stood out turned out to be a cutscene.
That being said, this kinda gives off "GoW3 meets DmC"-vibes, I´ll keep an eye on that one.

DICE awards were held yesterday. These are awards voted on almost entire by Developers and industry people. So it's curious to see just what the industry thinks its best games are.

Best game went to Astro Bot.
Best Technical Achievement also went to Astro Bot.
Best Game Design also went to Astro Bot.

Silent Hill 2, Black Myth and several other high end games were not even nominated for the Technical Achievement award and Astrobot beat out Hellblade 2.

Outstanding Technical Achievement

  • Astro Bot by Team ASOBI (Winner)
  • Batman: Arkham Shadow by Camouflaj
  • Indiana Jones and the Great Circle by MachineGames
  • Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II by Ninja Theory
  • Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 by Saber Interactive

I think this is a microcosm of why the industry seems to have stagnated this gen, and why game design and graphics are in a state of arrested development. The developer's priorities are all fucked up. I dont mind platformers winning game design if they are doing something completely new and original. Astrobot is as basic as it gets. As for best technical achivement, im guessing it won because of the physics implementation but having played well over half the game now, the physics are literally just for show. They dont add anything to the gameplay. They are salad dressing at best. It wouldve been amazing to finally get a physics driven platformer but this isnt it.

And we want next gen graphics from these people? A big fucking LOL.

Which is funny because the entire point of using Lumen or any other realtime GI solution is so the game's lighting and shadows dont break as soon as a table or a box or any other prop is moved.

I remember how last gen we all blamed the jaguar CPUs for the lack of physics and destruction in PS4 gen games. Then Zelda ToTK came out with better physics and we assumed it was because of baked lighting solutions that might break shadows and lighting.

Nope, it was just the devs. Good old fashioned lazy devs.

It's fucking nuts to me that a game released in 2025 doesn't have native HDR support. I know it's primarily a PC game, and HDR on PC is meh but still.
