Halo Master Chief Collection: H1-4. H2 full remaster. 1080p60. $59.99 Nov 11 Xbox One

Halo 2's multiplayer is going to be shit in Matchmaking due to exploitation of map glitches, but is going to be pretty great in custom games with people you know.

Though, this news has me fucking stoked. I can't wait to play Halo 3 in 1080p, that's going to be glorious.

They are all 1080p60 but yes, only Halo 2 is getting the 'Anniversary treatment' like Halo:CE Anniversary edition got
Ah, no problem then, I'm in mostly for the (so far quite rare this generation) 60fps smoothness, first time ever for console Halo, it's going to be sweeeet =)

I agree, it's weird. Here's his post from earlier.

I'm gonna say he's being shady like he was for the Halo 5 reveal.

3 different annotations in the YouTube video that all lead to same thing. The landing page has 3 skull outlines. The site is acting weird now though

Only where features existed in the originals.

Oh, and what about the Skulls in Halo 2? Would they have a much less cryptic treatment in the Anniversary edition (having them exposed on the Main Menu like in the rest of the modern Halos)?

My only concern with so many maps and game types available at one time is that the online population may become spread too thin, resulting in difficulty finding certain game types due to insufficient player count...

I'm thinking that, save H4, we get a group of playlists- and then you vote for which map and game you want to play in that playlist. i.e. in the Team Slayer playlist, you might choose from Slayer BRs on Lockout, Team Slayer on Guardian, or Slayer Pro on Chillout.

While I'm not sure I like having to wrestle to play the game I want, this would effectively solve any population issues (until the population for the collection as a whole drops below a certain threshold).

Wait is this with literally all of the DLC maps too? For all of the them? Because there were loads of those iirc

Don't forget Halo 3 and 4 were 360 games while the first 2 were Xbox games. All 4 will now look quite similar graphically and all at 1080p/60fps.

I wonder if this is going to be a real major game for them this year. The Halo name still seems to have ample pull. This holiday now looks pretty damn barren for shooters since Battlefront is officially a 2015 release, CoD's losing it's 600 lb gorilla status, and Hardline is less than revolutionary. The masses are hungry, and 100 Halo maps for $60 might be the deal of the century.
If they do a bundle with this for $399? The holiday might be in Microsoft's pocket.

I'm so confused.

Are all the H2 maps prettified or just 6? If just 6, is it gonna be next-gen Spartans running around on OG Xbox looking maps for the others?

Are all the Halo CE maps prettified, or just the Anniversary maps? Are those running in the H:CE engine or the Reach engine?

My mind is full of fuck.

In a month, all of the game's multiplayer will drop to below 5k players. In a year you will be glad if you will find a match in any of the games.

Buy this for the campaign, not for the multi, since that will die instantly, look at Halo anniversary, it's multiplayer was dead in two months.

But Halo anniversary wasn't Halo CE, it was lolReach with Halo CE remade maps.

I hope they also add some AA solutions to the games. 1080p really cleans things up, but hope we get some good AA. I would personally trade the 60fps for 30fps for high level AA and AF.

Those shots with Master Chief in them don't look so hot, they don't look much better than Halo 4 does, unless that game looks better in my memory than it actually did.

The close up of the prophet and some of the Arbiter stuff looks great, though.

you're kidding, right?

The arbiter and prophet are cutscenes. The regular in-game engine is meant to look like high res and better lighting versions of the original. They wouldn't want to make it look completely different.

lul. The annotations being fake would be more believeable if they weren't on the official Xbox youtube channel.

Exactly. Had this been hosted and annotated on by some random YouTube account then sure, they're fake. It's on the official Xbox channel though so it has to be something.

You are missing the point I think.

Yup Xbox bought now. Halo does this to me.

Also that H5 trailer, featuring Locke? and Arby. Damn that was good.

Has anything been said about the 60fps issue with animations designed for a locked lower framerate? I know that Halo CE was designed with 30fps animations, and the PC Halo CE was odd with higher framerates because of the low fps animations. I'm not sure about the other Halo games, but it seems like they would be the same kind of deal.

This really isn't that complicated.

You have three ports, one anniversary edition, and a basic loader which allows you to mix and match missions from the various campaigns.

The anniversary edition game (Halo 2) will have all the levels form Halos 1, 3, and 4 available in its multiplayer mode. Six maps will be receiving the anniversary edition treatment.

Haven't any of you played a PC FPS before? The concept of moving a map from one game to another shouldn't be that farfetched.

This isn't a Halo 1 through 4 update. Think of it as Halo 2 Anniversary Edition bundled with a Halo 1 3 and 4 collection.

It's weird when the selling point is nothing has changed in 10 years.

I don't think that's the main selling point at all. It's 4 games remade for the current gen system with MP intact (and improved by dedicated servers). The value is the main selling point for me.

Confused about MP. Will each game have it's own MP or will it be Halo 2 mp with the maps from the other games?

Every single Halo map will be 1080p 60FPS in it's respective game.

6 Halo 2 maps will be graphically enhanced and used in a hybrid engine (H4 modified) and differentiated from the original versions.
