The fuck is going on here? Routh was fine.

You know when a team goes 0-16 even though everyone knows its not the QB's fault but its just best to start over? That is what happened to Routh.

Barring contract negotiation obstacles or whatever, I assume Routh isn't back simply because they want it to feel like a fresh reboot, removed entirely from Returns. In which case it's basically inevitable.

Man I don't know if they will ever make a good superman movie. Its like the hulk. They are both so powerful characters nothing ever seems like a real threat in the movies. The comics do a great job with superman but I just don't feel that its had for a director and writer to make a movie that shows this for some reason. I hope its good though.

Oh shit, the guy who banged, then married Henry's sister on The Tudors?

Oh shit, the guy who was banging Sienna Miller in Stardust?

I suspect either Tyler Bates or David Hirschfelder will be scoring Superman.

Tyler Bates because he has done the music for almost every Snyder movie, and David Hirschfelder because he did the music for Legends of the Guardians (also a Znyder movie) and it's main theme sounds just like you'd expect a Superman score would sound like.

But I think either John Williams or Michael Giacchino would be my favorite for the role (or maybe even a team up of those two, just like Nolan teamed up two famous composers for Batman Begins).

He'll also be in Immortals this fall.

Unexpected, but a good choice. Hopefully Goyer's comment that this was influenced by Secret Origin means the tone of the comic and not just the story.

Its Hans Zimmer.

OP needs a clean-shaven pic, I started looking this guy up on Google and after seeing him in shots like this I can definitely see the "Superman" angle better.

Also, he's shorter than Routh, Welling or Reeve were in the role -- but not by much.

Do you have a source?

Thanks to a recent interview, we have some insight into the answer to that question. When asked about Superman, Zimmer recently said,

You are allowed to reinvent, but you have to try to be as good or at least as iconic and it has to resonate and it has to become a part of the zeitgeist. That’s the job. On ‘Gladiator’ I remember people always talking about ‘Spartacus’ and I kept telling them, ‘When you saw ‘Spartacus’ and how it affected it you, that’s how I want a modern audience to be affected by what we do now.’ So I think ultimately you’re supposed to reinvent.

He is noticeably shorter. But 1.85m is still tall, Superman doesn't need to be HUGE.

THR: The internet is buzzing with rumors that you’ve signed on to Zack Snyder’s Superman project. Any truth to that?

Hans Zimmer: You know, it’s like some dirty quote taken out of context. Let’s just be absolutely straight here: I have never in my life met Zack Snyder. I think I need to give him a ring. But here’s the thing: No Ronni [Chasen]. Suddenly all sorts of stuff starts flowing around with no warning.

I just used the pic that WB sent out, I'll use that one

Thank God Routh is out.

Only actor in the world that could make Wellings acting look good.

I remember liking him, but then I saw him on Chuck and he was terrible. Maybe I need to rewatch this thing.

Or maybe not. Bleh.

(I just want a good Superman film)

Yah. Routh is victim of the "let's just forget about 2006, please" approach.

I loved the man in Scott Pilgrim, but absolutely hated his Clark/Superman.
