They actually cancelled TEW3 to make this I'm sorry to tell you, all Tango games going forward will use this aesthetic.

The visuals are fantastic, but when I saw this screenshot I kind of got excited and got my hopes up that there would be some free roaming. Games like this are so rare, especially with exploration, I don't really know many besides Sunset Overdrive, Gravity Rush, Hover, Jet Set Radio (although that one is smaller areas).

I mean it's all cool if it's a good linear game with a super art style, but it's so rare, I'd like some games looking like this where I can explore the world.

It's really fun and rythym based beat em up! Combined with the soundtrack and the hyper stylized art style, it's a great get at $30! Got it on Steam and it's really good and quirky

having no calibration is a bit of an oversight yeah. they should patch that in.

on my old TV I would have had a bit of an issue I think. my new one thankfully has zero audio lag (according to Metal Hellsinger's calibration screen)

I got an S rating for the first level, not sure what my timing percentage was, but I assume it was good given that it gave me an S
On Pc there was a calibration screen when I went into the audio options not sure about console.

I also haven't looked, but I assumed if there was a calibration it would come up during startup like the brightness settings.

so maybe there is one.

I thankfully don't need it as I said, my TV has no latency and I don't use external speekers on it either, so that's also why I didn't even bother looking for it.

I want to like it but the combat... uff, I always had a lot of difficulties with rhythm games. I have zero sense of rhythm, specially during combat, when the game rises my adrenaline and I must maintain a button pushing rhythm slower and very different as I play. I will try again tomorrow because I really like the animations, ones of the best I seen.
For all of you rhythmically challenged people out there just turn on the beat gauge at the bottom of the screen.

The game is pretty lenient with timing exactly anyways. You can still get through you'll just have a crappy score.

Interesting, it's like a Rhythm Heaven action game. Too bad can't afford it right now
$1 game pass?

Beat the first boss, really nice surprise. Great game so far and the soundtrack (and the way everything "bops" to it) is fantastic.

With a soundtrack that has like 90% licensed music and gameplay that's completely tied to its music is there any point to actually streaming this game?

Jet Set Sunset!!! What a nice surprise! Kudos to Tango Gameworks on a different genre and a fun game! This game would be awesome with a dual sense!

Having just beaten the first boss, I’ll just say I’m happy for those that like this genre/game and enjoy it. Back to Rocket League for me.

Also is it just me or does this dole out achievements super slow haha? I think I got one in my hour of playing.

I guess they are going with their early impressions. Only a fraction of those reviews have more than 2 hours playtime. But then again, not like they have to assign a score to the game. It is either thumbs up or thumbs down.

Looks amazing, lost some excitement when I learned it was a rhythm game, will try it still though just in case it's still fun. Nice steath drop......

Is true that Microsoft bought the company. At least I can play it through the Samsung screen via cloud in gamepass.

What a nice little surprise this is. I've put a couple hours in now and I have to say it's actually pretty great. Once you get into the groove of it, the combat is really fun to play. And the visual design is really stunning in places. Some of the cramped corridors are a little bland but the big vistas make up for it. And the cel shading and animation are truly the best I've seen out side of ArcSys fighting games.

Obviously the presentation and the music-action combat are the stars here and everything else is pretty unremarkable Japanese character action game padding (platforming, light exploration, etc). But that's okay, this game knows what it has going on.

Hmmm, not sure about this one. Not digging the combat so far, granted it is still early. Think I'll set it aside and try again tomorrow.
This is definitely one of those games where it takes a little practice for the gameplay to click. Once the timing becomes second nature and you start to get a sense of how to apply the different combos in different scenarios it feels fucking fantastic.
