Horizon Online could be coming 1H 2025...

I loved the first Horizon game but after what they did with the story and the amount of "filling" in the 2nd game, got me out of the franchise.

Are we sure that many Guerilla devs are even making this game?
They're in full production and nearing the release of the game, which is an internally developed title led by the former lead of Rainbow Six Siege, so Horizon Online certainly has more people working on it than Horizon III currently does in its pre-production stage.

What a load of BS. Sony is having more profits than with all the other PS combined even if the generation would stop now. Sony needs to learn a lesson of humility so we can have great variated games again.
What a radical response. I see things different.

Earlier this year, Guerilla laid off like 1/5th of their studio(75 people). I instantly thought the Horizon online game was in trouble because of the layoffs. But now, I wouldn't be surprised if they put Horizon 3 on the backburner and just put all their focus on Horizon online

So, hiring the Siege guy…. They put him on Horizon online and NOT some kickass version of SOCOM (or something similar?).

Yeah… great move.

While I appreciate people that Horizon is getting way too much attention, the universe itself could be really interesting AND originally it was envisioned to be much more like Monster Hunter with the oversized weapons, using machine parts to craft armour and weapons etc.

It’s just people who don’t get it. Nobody plays multiplayer games for the “universe”. Nobody cares about PUBGs universe or Tarkovs universe or Rocket Leagues universe. The franchise fatigue argument has no bearing whatsoever to Horizon Online. The game will live or die based on how fun the gameplay loop is.

Gamers need to update their knowledge base. Better conversations will happen as a result.

I dont think you get what I meant.
The ‘Universe’ of Horizon ie its setting lends itself quite well to a multiplayer game. Games like Warframe,Destiny,Genshin,WoW etc etc literally prove you wrong about people not caring about the ‘universe’ in multiplayer games anyway given how invested a lot of people are in said universes. And lets be real, this isnt going to be something as redundant as PUBG, its going to have story, its going to have lore, whether or not franchise fatigue becomes a issue time will tell.
But either way, the most important part is the gameplay which if it borrows anything from Monster Hunters loop could be great. Time will tell.

Hope it '' follow Concord path and Sony will quit wating their resources on online games
They will never stop trying to make a good online game because they only need one GaaS to be a success to make a lot of money for years plus recoup the money lost from failures like concord.

Since people actually have to pay to play online on PlayStation I don’t think it makes sense for you to not want them to atleast try to make decent online games.

These resources wouldn’t be taken from their single player games because they know that’s their bread and butter.

I just think the mindset of “concord failed so we should never try” is dumb. They just need to vent things more and spend less money on the next go around.

It does seem like PvE multiplayer lends itself more to that single player “story” mindset. You’re definitely right there. I’m hoping the Horizon game has a PvP component due to the Rainbow Six Siege directors involvement. It’ll definitely have a coop component.

Helldivers 2 is one of the biggest gaas games in recent years. It surely has covered any losses by Concord. It will continue to make a shit load of money for Sony over the next 7-8 years. Sky is the limit for that game

Sony should stick to PvE for gaas. PvP games sink or swim at launch. You can't really fix a broken PvP gaas game like you can a PvE game. And Sony doesn't have much experience with PvP games in general
