Did I just see a unsimulated BJ on TV? 👀

Was wondering that as well.

Nah, it was a prosthetic she was performing fellatio on. My only annoyance with that scene was how fake it looked. Killed the vibes for me regarding the brothel ambience. I was wondering why not just use a more realistic dildo or something close to the real thing if you are going to attempt a scene like that. I'm figuring they did something like that to test the waters potentially for HBO - they can then point to how fake it looked so they could tiptoe around any censorship/ratings issue.

Still, the prosthetic just looked way too plastic/fake and felt out of place. I do hope the season starts to pick up. It's OK overall, but it's not on the level of early Game of Thrones for me.

Test what? HBO making Pornos incoming? 👀 👀 👀 👀

BTW yeah it makes sense it's a prosthetic. They only showed seconds of that part though

Trying to meet Alicent didnt make sense to me. She lied about the kings last words to take the thrown. Not really someone you can talk sense with.

jesus christ, are there 18 eps this season or just 8? Get on with it!!

The whole "we women could figure this out amicably and equitably if it weren't for these damned bloodthirsty men" is getting old as well. There is CLEARLY no way out of this other than total capitulation of one side or the other, which neither Alicent nor Rhaenyra will do. Plus one strong strike to win it is likely MUCH better for lives saved than a slow war of attrition. These writers would do well to read a little military history to realize the trap they are writing, it's a sad tale across time.

Nice to see Milly again, she is adorable.

Exactly what i was thinking, if both of them want to avoid a general bloodshed they would 1 keep a back channel open without the entire metal gear infiltration scene 2 use the solutions that Daemon and Cole were using.

Instead we get "could we wise and grown women can solve this future bloodshed clusterfuck created by our 5th grade men? But without compromising our own quest for power, ok?
And that last scene kills everything that HBO marketing was building between choosing Black or Green team. The series definitely choose its side.

3 straight episodes now we have people just sneaking into the enemy territory without getting caught. This is getting stupid. Alicent and Rhaenyra meeting was a heart felt scene but the whole premise is way too contrived. It was a very stupid plan and like Alicent said, it's way too late. If she really want to solve this diplomatically, don't do it as a last ditch attempt. Also, there is zero chance Baela was able to identify Cole from that altitude and speed, especially when their backs are facing her. That's just BS.

HBO needs to invest in better penis prosthetics haha

Weird episode. Really just a set up for the upcoming war. I think women at war would be more bloodthirsty than men. I thought the episode was ok except or sneaking the queen into kings landing. That was silly.

Also whore house scene was a little much.

I think Alicent genuinely believed he changed his mind because she misinterpreted what he said. The blame falls on the Targs naming everyone and their dog Aegon.

I know HBO has always prided itself on pushing the bar when it comes to nudity and sex scenes, but a fucking blowjob is too much. I thought Euphoria was bad with its dozens of penises and jerking off closeups but an actual blowjob is literally porn. Whats next? Where does HBO push the bar next? Anal creampies? An actual first person cumshot? honestly, whats even left at this point? rimjobs with oscar winning actresses tossing salad?

Whatever dude. this is so fucking stupid. This kind of childish fascination with violence and sex turned me off of The Boys and other Netflix trash. I literally dont watch anything but HBO shows anymore, but child beheadings while they gargle and actual fucking blowjobs might be it. time to move on from HBO.

It was a girl sucking a non realistic dildo.

It was unnecessary but whatever, it’s not a show for kids lol

From Rhaenerys perspective.
Alicent may believe that, but Otto certainly doesnt even believe her. And if Otto doesnt believe his own daughter then really anyone on the outside would just assume the entire conversation was fabricated.

That is the deal with Royalty, one of them becomes a good or renowned ruler, the following generations name their kids that to constantly remind you and say, "Remember that guy".

See, it's not just the dying words of Viserys that matters here. Even if he had died alone, Alicent and her heirs would have been pushed in front of Rhaenyra because Rhaenyra A. was a ho-bag with obviously 'Strong' sons, B. had then hitched herself to Daemon, a man REVILED by many evn if he had a legit claim to the throne himself, C. The Hand and his friends KNEW Alicent's kids were at risk of being murdered the second Rhaenyra sat the Iron Throne, D. Aegon II had already had son(s) and Aemond was promising as well, all legit heirs and dragon riders themselves with none of the baggage Rhaenyra came with. No matter how you look at it, Rhaenyra, largely due to her own choices, just wasn't fit to rule.

I don't think ANYONE cares a wit about what Alicent says Viserys last words were, it's just a convenient story to push, otherwise they would have invented another. The realm was largely at peace, Rhaenyra was not particularly involved with the politics of Kings Landing at the time, she had little influence, she brought nothing to the table but difficulties, largely due to Daemon. It's quite possible that had she just ceeded the Crown to Aegon II, resigned herself to Dragonstone, locked up Daemon to keep him from doing anything rash, then in time she would have retained most of what she already had, Aegon's kids would have married Rhaenyra and Daemons kids, and the entire bloody affair could have been avoided. I don't think Aegon II or Aemond would have enacted violence on the Strong Boys, those bastards would have been married off to small lordlings or sent to the Wall. Rhaenyra's true born kids could have been fostered at King's Landing aside Aegon's own easily enough.

Ah come one, it didn't even look real for 1 second.

What a dull episode. As in every episode so far, the ending was once again totally implausible and stupid. Writer strike must have hit the series harder than I expected, as they in theory had plenty of time to write the scripts. I have a bad feeling about this season.

I kinda agree, without going into the book, I could outline an 8 ep season with every ep ending in a massive character death. And that would just get us to the midpoint of the Dance, where I think this season will end anyway. So I don't know why they are being so coy with having action and narrative drive, it feels like they are doing this tease thing to remind us why we should care about some side characters, they are spending a LOT of time introducing new characters that could probably be brought in with far less fanfare, and they are forcing some direct character interaction, probably as a response to complaints from GoT that most of the characters never actually meet.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
Another weak episode.

Harrenhal looked cool, gave me some dark fantasy vibes.
The dragon chick has eagle vision, way to spot Cole at that distance lol.
The plastic penis was silly.
Alicent's security sucks, as does everyone's in this season. Forget about dragons and armies, a cardboard box would be their ultimate weapon.
Otto nowhere to be seen, which sucks because I think he's the best actor so far.

Still hoping this gets better, but don't have a lot of hopes. I'm struggling to even care about a lot of those characters.

I like this episode.

The theme of justifying a war with distant origins is well represented in the introduction. It's the main thread of the episode. The environments and costumes are, once again, stunning. The Demon Souls passage is an obvious eye-catcher. Daemon wanders through ruins, but also those of his own mind.

If I have to object to one major flaw, it's always this desire to "shock" at all costs when there's nothing spectacular to show. The BJ in the brothel was useless (and the cock is so fake). Aemond has his George Costanza moment (I was in the pool!!!... well at least, no prosthetics there.) That and Mysaria's overly exposed role.

The end scene sparked controversy, but nothing dramatic either. At least it shows Emma D'Arcy's talent as an actress. There's a lot of emotion on her face, and it's actually more of a beautiful duet to watch than anything else. And we can't call the series feminist just yet, with what it has to say about the male-dominated nature of war.

In fact, if what follows ramps up as it should, it'll justify the length. Some people have amnesia problems with season 1 of Game of Thrones. It wasn't all good, 100% of the time. But hey, it's only 3 episodes here, so it's impossible to say whether it'll continue in the right direction.

Are we not like 4 or 5 kings and like 150 years from the mad king and the Baratheon's taking over.
It's quite a while, but in Game of Thrones they said "the ages have turned them to stone" or something. So the dragon eggs are clearly old. Not sure if they're the same or not.

A lot of people are surprisingly harsh on this season, especially after only two episodes. Honestly, when you see crap like Acolyte (and even the last episode, eh), HoD is of a completely different caliber.
Shit like the Acolyte shouldn't be a standard for comparisons.

Compare it to something more appropriate like the first few seasons of GOT, for example.

I actually loved the first season of HOTD just as much, if not more, except for the DEI race swap for the Velarions, which is always distracting. But the second season is kinda meh for me so far.

Enjoying it so far, but everyone just looks the same (lots of shows like this nowadays). I like the main 4 or 5 cast members, but there was a better diversity of personalities in the first GoT which gave it more depth... it doesn't feel like this could go on for season after season.

The cocksucking was sure unexpected. But yeah if they are going to do this, they should at least make it look real and not so artificial. I wonder how many takes and from how many angle they shot that scene, poor dildosucker.

As for the ep, it was ok. 7/10. I didn't mind the ending. So far this season is weaker than first though.

Daemon in Harrenhal was like me when I go downstairs to investigate night noises.

The cock sucking was outrageous. No gagging, no Hawk Tuahs? Was disappoint.

I like the slower pace though. I like slutty Alicent on an unrelated note. Hate Cole, and Aemond naked like a skinny anime voldemort is not what I want to see.

Rhanerya blending was making ubisoft jealous.

There is a book answer for this (pretty definitive as F&B goes). I address it in post #68 of the full spoiler thread.

That's why I didn't get the part. They needed both to be in the same shot.
It’s so the actor isnt actually sucking on a dude’s real cock. “Simulated” vs actually performing an explicit sexual act.

Anyway I saw some journalist saying the next episode is absolutely epic, but unfortunately I’m headed out on a cruise and won’t see it until a week later 😤

YEEEESSSSS, a dance with dragons indeed! I'm still annoyed as shit by all the sly "we women know this shit" looks passed around but at least now the QUARTERBACK IS TOAST!

Aemond setting Aegon up is pretty genius, though having a few thousand folks witness him blasting Sunfrye (mostly) and Meyles (slightly) ain't gonna go over well should he make a pass for the throne.

You can definitely see how they went with a psychological bent versus just a tactical and strategic war show. It muddies the story quite a bit but for a show is probably for the best.

And Alys Rivers....delish :p

Really wonder why they are so vested in this prophecy shit. Is there an Aegon the Conqueror or even a First Men show coming?

The size of that one dragon is great. He is a real big boy. I am sure there will be a great fight to bring him down.

Kinda sucks that Rhanys last scene with Corlys was basically accusing him of cheating.
Hmm, accusing? Or acknowledging? And what exactly is tipping her off? That he is black? He's bald, so no help there. And like 40 years old, so I guess it's just a vague resemblance.

So, tansy tea for good queen Alicent. I wonder if little enough time has passed that she could have passed it off as a final gift from Viserys. Probably not, unless she was jumping Coles bones whilst her husband yet lived.

He's gotta be full vegetable if he's alive, otherwise he would get Aemond arrested. Now he's truly the King that does nothing.

This show man. They just had to had to give us this puppy dog scene to make us feel sad.

excellent episode. Action was very intense and well choreographed. I enjoy how they modelled the dragon on dragon action on eagles fight, with the locking each other and the scratching of the belly.
It's great to see how much money they can put on the screen, so much care went into this world, kudos to the practical effects department!

Nice episode, but predictable. There's no way nobody saw that giant dragon getting to his hiding spot.
Yeah, just the logistics of setting the signal arrows, horn calls, feeding that thing, etc and Ser Hightower had no idea? But it was a good reveal for the audience.

I would have liked the Black council to do a little "where are the green dragons today?" brief to indicate they ARE thinking about the 3-4 black dragons and where they might be. Did Rhenys KNOW she was riding into a trap? Why, after taking out Aegon, did she turn back? Did she think she had a chance at Vaghar? Hope to wound him so he would be an easier target for someone else? They gave her a fatalistic outlook that I'm not sure was entirely justified.

And the more I think about Alyn and Addam, I think they may be from a relationship Corlys had before he married Rhenys, or perhaps his brother Vaemond (he of the lack of a head after calling out the Strong boys). The actors seem old enough to be senior to Laenor/Laena (if, in typical show fashion, they age up characters that were actually popping out kids at like 16-17 but kinda keep the timelines to the shorter book generations).

So something happens this episode then yeah? I don't think E3 was the worst one. Episode 2 made me second guess myself if I was wasting time with this show.

I just don't know if 15mins of action being the high point of the show instead of plot or characters is enough, but it will do for me.

People like dragons and burninating. That is what makes a good episode.
Plus I don't think the love triangles or family squabbles they've set up are particularly compelling. They seem unwilling to make anyone an outright villain so everyone is cast in shades of grey. Dilutes the narrative value of their struggles IMHO, so raw action is necessary to up the thrill value. Particularly since they are refusing to give titillating sexuality (the infamous "Sexposition" from GoT)..
