I think it will be $500 with a slim profit margin for Nintendo which is a completely baseless assumption on my part.

It keeps them flexible for future price cuts if demand slows and gives some cushion if inflation continues at high rates.

But you can play PS5 games on any shitty PC from Wal-Mart, and most of them you can play on your old PS4, and also they have no good exclusives anymore. You can only play new Nintendo games legally and fairly on Switch 2.

Am I wrong?
Yes, i can play Nintendo games legally and fairly on my PC and Nintendo cant do shit about It, switch 2 ll be the same.

Wow..this wall of text

Dude, looking at the tech inside both..Switch shouldn't be a dime above $250

Period
The PS Portal is $200 and the Switch 2 is a vastly more capable device.

Also, technology in the Switch 2 isn’t less advanced or worse than the PS5. Ampere released the same time as RDNA2, Cortex A78 is newer than Zen 2, and both have a very similar feature set although the Switch 2 had dedicated ML capability and the base PS5 doesn’t.

It’s dramatically slower of course, but it’s a handheld, so of course it would be.

£349 best case. £399 worst case.

I think they’ll hit £349 as that’s in Xmas/birthday present territory and they found out with the 3DS how important pricing is.

Very soon after launch.... although this is a different situation however, Most of the casual crowd that bought a Wii or DS as simply moved on before their successors arrived.

I wouldn't be surprised when Nintendo wants 499 € for a "naked" Switch 2.
A normal one still costs 299 € and there are enough fans who would pay the price.
Nintendo can still lower the price after the first year.

If it dropped today, I guess 400, maybe 450 with digital game to make it sting less.

But by the time it comes out, it could go as high as 500 with nothing N can really do about it, due to prices increasing for various reasons. I expect pricing disasters to unfold soon. Nintendo may even choose to take a smaller cut.

just give it time, Switch 2 emulator ll be a thing before Switch 2 make 1 year anniversary

Without an exploit you can't decrypt games, and without decrypting games you have an emulator that runs old Switch games which we already have. It's all up to Nvidia not messing it up again. The patched version of the hardware couldn't be defeated and it has been 5 years already (albeit hackers are less motivated because the v1 was kind of "easy" and it makes no sense trying to break something that cannot be broken as easily).

It's interesting that more people think 500 than think 300, whereas I think 500 is the absolute most they could possibly aim for and would expect that to be rejected by the market.

$400 is my guess. For instant success.

Depends on how many units will be available at launch - the price needed to sell out 1 million consoles day 1 can be a lot higher than the price needed to sell 10 million day 1 - there's probably a million people who'd pay $500 at launch, but maybe not 10 million people who would.

I guess $450 is possible because of inflation, I don’t think it’ll cost $500. They’ll sell out no matter what. And scalpers are going to feast like never before unless the purchase is locked to accounts.

Switch OLED is £280 in the UK.

I'm expecting the Switch 2 to be no more than £350.

£380 with MK9 thrown in.

They really should let anyone actively paying for NSO / whatever the online backup thing is called with VC, have a unique 1-limit code locked to their account, during the pre-ordered window for 24-48 hours, that would be too simple though.

$400 regular base model.
$450 with pack in game
$500 with dock and pack in game.

Later down the road we'll get the Sw2 Oled (and some minor improvements) for $500. Maybe it'll have a heavily discounted pack in game that's sold about all it will.

I think $450. I don't think they will go with $400, because that's only $50 more than the Switch OLED and I think that they'll want a greater price distinction between the new and old generations. $500 is possible, but I think they'll also want to avoid direct price comparisons with the PS5 and Series X. $450 is the sweet spot between brand confusion and price backlash.

You can only play new Nintendo games legally and fairly on Switch 2, and Nintendo games are also way better and more frequent than Playstation first party games. Also Nintendo games aren't woke. Also Nintendo still supports AA gaming.

Am I wrong?

I mean, I bought a Pro day 1, but I'm also not living in a fantasy world. Arkham Knight, Uncharted 4, and GoW ragnarok were all on PS4 and looked amazing. If Switch brings that level of graphics or even beyond that, what beyond that is the point honestly? Diminishing returns hit this industry hard in 2015. That's the high water mark. If you look closely you can see where it started to recede. Now we play VR games with roloblox graphics and talk about how cool our new 2000 dollar 5090 is going to be because of the AI nodes while we game on our 750 dollar non-portable consoles and play games like Diablo 4 with a pro patch that look like they could have released on the PS3. We have lost what is important in gaming.
Except XC and 3D Mario I find all of Nintendo's output the shittest of the big 3. So nope, Sony rules on that front. Will still be getting this for Monolith's next game and BC.

If it’s more than $400, that’s a mistake.

But to be completely honest, I think Nintendo might be waiting on new tariff policies before even setting the price internally.
