Managed to get a sunburn today watching the tennis in London - that'll teach me for going outside and not playing games.

I'm going to treat myself as soon as I get back though from the following list:

UnEpic
Windward
Hand of Fate
Dungeon Defenders 2

I have earned it - even though I don't remember the last time I saw the credits of a game.

Read this on the steam 'High Risk Of Removal Thread'

Dungeon Defenders II is having its biggest discount yet, and it's set to become free-to-play at some point. Buying the early access version gives + 1 and should bind to the Library permanently.

No idea if its true or not but just in case it is and it has a bearing on you buying it.

Oh btw check yo pm's :)

Ah ok - thanks man, I won't pick that up if it's going f2p.

And I will if they load - I'm using the train's wifi on the way back from London. It's sketchy.

Cool - thought i'd check about DD2 - This is straight from the store page!!!

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?
“In the future, Dungeon Defenders II will be free. We’re focused on building a great game first and business model second, so as of the Steam Early Access launch, the game is absent of any monetization features (update: as of 4/28 costumes have been added to the game, however premium currency purchasing is still not available). We will be adding these features to the game as we progress through Early Access. There will also be periods of time where it goes on sale or participates in other Steam promotions.

Got to second Toma's impressions...Hand of Fate is excellent. The card/deck building mechanic is really well done and engaging (and that's coming from someone who typically isn't interested in those things), and the game is just really really addictive. You want to see what new encounter you get, if you draw a new weapon or item from the deck.

Combat is fun IMO, and you feel very powerful when you have various abilities and skill buffs stacked due to the weapon, shield, armor, and helmet you have equipped.

I already played two hours, most of any game I've gotten in this Sale so far. I definitely recommend checking it out

The game is especially clever in how finishing a quest ends on the Start screen, with the Dealer goading you into playing again.

I haven't been in one of these threads in a while, but I want to let everyone know that Neon Struct is legit.

sorry for the shitty compressed screenshot.

I also bought it. Speaking as someone that can't get into most card games, I really dig it. On paper, it sounds like a billion things could go wrong with the design. ..and yet the devs made it work.

It's surprisingly polished too! I like the voice acting a lot.

The combat's a little shaky but I understand that an Arkham-style 3D combat system is a tough job for a small team.

In other news, I can't stop playing Nuclear Throne. It's brilliant. I'll make a thread someday. Probably.

Success!
Did we feature the game upon full release? I want it to be eligible for the GOTY voting.
It was featured in the March thread. I dont think anyone played it then :p

Oh, another thing I like about the game is how defeated bosses become regular cards in the deck that could show up during encounters. And how the combat, while simple and essentially Arkham-lite, can still be quite challenging due to 1) your luck with equipment and 2) the varied enemy types. Facing a pack of lizardmen and posionous ratmen is different from facing bandits and a mini-boss.

Is there no OT for this game? Definitely need to make next week once the Summer Sale and E3 fervor dies down

Does the current state of Unepic reflect its poor metacritic score?

How is the co-op? Fun and easy to set up?
No. There are many Indies that I know why people downrate it, but Unepic is a great game. I highly recommend picking it up if you are interested (no clue about the coop)

Regarding Tome, crossposting from the TOME thread:
The dev is just awesome, haha. If you buy the game, you can opt in to play "connected" online. If you do, the dev might throw a random event into the game that all online players can participate in. Today he added 2 events and ... this (that only players/characters received that were online at the time):

Speaking of Zacktronics, I finally bought SpaceChem two weeks ago and have already played it for 40 hours. Absolutely incredible, I now fully understand why you chose that profile picture.

<3 I was pondering changing my profile pic every once in a while, but since I stated I wont change it until I have beaten SpaceChem, I will likely be stuck with it for all eternity.

Amazing game, isn't it? There's something so satisfying and almost hypnotic about watching your solution run its course

Which level are you stuck on? I've had so much trouble with some of the later levels.

Its not so much "stuck" as it is devoting 20 hours to sitting down and solving the next level, as I need that much time for all levels now. (second to last world I believe).

Tale of Tales, developers of Sunset, Luxuria Superbia, The Path, etc, have announced their retirement from games.

I might make a topic later once the blog goes up, since their site is getting completely hammered to death. Even if I didn't fully appreciate each of their outings (Bientôt l'été in particular failed to click with me), I loved their enthusiasm and their attempts to tie culture and art to their personal expressions. Michael and Auriea, best of luck in your future endeavors! <3

EDIT: Someone else got to it using google cache.

Pretty sure Hyperburner was in May's OT. Been playing the review build, it's really cool. Best part is that the environments all have a purpose rather than being abstract nameless places. Tradelanes, ducts, superconduits, industrial refineries, mining shafts, etc. It gives the levels a sense of scale and atmosphere that similar games lack

The others, you have to add the link and blurb, and remove the space between title and quote so they'll get included for next month

Done (I think) - I wasn't necessarily putting them up for inclusion, just for a looksee.

That's sad, while their games are not for everyone I think it's important to have developer doing those authorial games.

I know the feeling well. Here were my impressions when I played the game last year
It's like trying to learn a new language or understand some form of complex mathematics. It's the kind of game where you stare at the first puzzle in a state of utter confusion, thrust into the deep end...but slowly and surely, you acclimate, you learn, you adapt. What was once a confusing mix of symbols becomes a test of logic and planning, refinement and perfection. Developing a successful solution is a cerebral victory unlike any other I've ever encountered

Almost 7 hours into Hand of Fate, up to the last three bosses, but have only attained a little over half of the possible equipment and encounter cards

This game is so good

Another sale and recommendation for Hand of Fate. Thanks for everyone mentioning it. With all the other deals going right now I might have passed on this one otherwise. Really enjoying it. Went ahead and grabbed Sunset while I was at it. It was the only one of theirs I didn't already own. Really sad to hear that.

The great thing is that you don't need a gaming pc to experience many of the great games in this thread.

That's the best thing about indie games is that 95% of the time, a regular laptop works just fine. No crazy specs or expensive PC needed

I only have a Mac (mini) though, which I use for work. Bootcamp is not really an option.
Took a quick look through the 2015 threads, there are about 230 games available for Mac. You still have a nice amount of stuff to check out even if you don't have Windows

Wow that's way more than I thought. It's a Mac Mini though, with a shitty gpu:
