I heard there was a version of Baldur's Gate that came on DVDs instead of five discs. Is that true? Are they still selling it? Is there an edition of Baldur's Gate II like that?

Don't know for certain. Sometimes DVD editions are merely OEM pack-ins with new computers.

bg1 is definately available on dvd. if a dvd version of bg2 exists, i've never heard of it.

and what the hell is wrong with pc developers these days? they honestly make no attempt to compress their games. pretty much everything i've installed since i got my new computer has written itself completely to the hard drive. even my only dvd game, unreal 2k4.

It does exist, but I haven't seen it on sale anywhere since early 2000.

I have the DVD edition, came with a gateway PC I got like 5 years ago.
