I don't think anyone would be complaining about the realistic look if the color grading maintained the overall aesthetic of Cyrodiil, especially near the Imperial City. Lush green grass and trees, deep blue skies. Instead, we get a brown tint to everything. Oblivion's pastoral landscapes exist in the real world,
Some of the screenshot does look more vibrant and better colored than the others so hopefully we'll see more of it when the game comes out.

After morrowind, I was always unbelievably hyped for bethesda releases, but now i find i'm not at all anymore. If it gets good feedback, I will probably bite though. I do hope it's a true remake and that it's not just ue5 slapped over the original game.

Yeah Morriwind got me super hyped for any future Elder Scroll games, and made me tried Fallout 3 which was my first Fallout game and it was also 10/10. Now Elder Scrolls and Fallout games have become my two favorite game series of all times. I still have hope for ESVI and Fallout 5 despise Starfield being shit since Stsrfield is no ES or Fallout.

Oblivion Remake would easily be the best game this year only rivaled by Skyobivion since it's also releasing this year if everyone goes according to plan. Definitely the best game since Fallout 4.

Man, I don't think I've ever been this torn between two releases in the same window.

For me, the best case scenario would be if they just announce this next week and release sometime in May.
Let me get that right, you wish the game was delayed for everybody so YOU would be here day one for it ? :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I don't care about Expedition 33, so I would be pissed if Oblivion was delayed because of it.
It's not the same target audience, even if you might be interested in both.

Some of you guys really suffer from FOMO I swear. Oblivion will still be available after you finish Expedition 33.

No matter how good the remake is, it will not be better than KCD2. But I get that nostalgia is a powerful drug. And yeah this year is big when it comes to RPGs, even just non-asian ones.

KCD2
Avowed
Gothic remake
Oblivion remake
Vampire Bloodlines 2
Clair Obscur 33
Outer Worlds 2

I got to tell you....everything you listed isn't better then Oblivion....

Original Oblivion is better then KCD1 and a remake is beyond both games tbh.

I played it at release and enjoyed it a lot too, but even then, I already played Gothic 1 and 2 and those are just vastly superior in some important aspects, which is why I found Oblivion in some ways deficient. It did feel very "nextgen" though when it came out.
And the soundtrack was 10/10. I actually liked Shivering Isles more than the main game.

When I want to play a fantasy RPG KCD is at the bottom of the lists

When I feel like playing a sim RPG KCD is almost the only option

They can all coexist

I'm gonna use your example for the also stealth released Ninja Gaiden 2 black : I'm pretty sure now that the MFers over at Koei Tecmo knew exactly what they were doing since the game is essentially just Sigma 2 on UE5 and had people knew that beforehand they (KT) would have definitely lost some sales, and hey, it worked since even die hard NG fans like myself got - basically -duped into buying it since most of us were expecting the OG NG2 with updated GFX etc.

That release/game is literally the worst 50 Euros I've spent these last few months, if I wanted to fucking play Sigma 2 I'd have bought that at a discounted price and not the 50€ that "Black" released for.

Back to Oblivion now : just like you said, something doesn't pass the smell test, guess we'll have to wait and see...
Yeah they knew what they were doing. I almost clicked on "buy" on steam, before closing the window.

But honestly, if it's just the same ol Oblivion with beautiful graphics, and the gameplay tinkered as the leaks suggested it, I'll be fine with it.
I just hope it runs well... UE5 is not reassuring at all !

My main complaint (and probably everyone's) was the level scaling. Morrowind let you get absurdly stronger than the enemies over time as you levelled up and Oblivion had them level up with you.

I hope that gets fixed.

Skyrim improved it but still wasn't as good as Morrowind.

Doesn't change what flaws Oblivion has (and I hope the remake will address).
If it is only a facelift but all the level scaling shit and other flaws is the same as in original, it will be huge waste of potential.

Nope. Oblivion's RPG system as well as writing is embarassing trash. Nostalgia goggles don't change that.

If they got rid of the super aggressive level scaling and those stupid zoomed in dialogue cameras it would be an improvement. Oblivion was when Ken Rolston was still involved so it is still not as awesomely stupid as later Bethesda Game Studios games.

This is a compilation of some leaks from January which detailed the gameplay enhancements / changes the remaster is getting.

I don't want it to be soul like but from this, it looks like they are only doing the animation part of it with better reaction and hit detection which I'm fine with.

Also looks like they made archery woke not just in first person but also third person.

Year 2006? Not bad, man. Not bad.

Thats uploaded only 8 days after launch!!

It's a really old video haha before Youtube was even owned by Google.

You can see I was going full Dark Brotherhood in that playthrough.

Oh yeah that's some 2006 frame rate right there

Keep in mind the FPS was lower because I was recording with fraps or something haha. So it might have been at least 10fps higher!

Seeing a game like this running on console hardware was a revelation back in the day. This probably sold a ton of Xbox 360's.

Funny, when you realize a vid of testing shit has actually significance in the history of Youtube.

Good times with the early YouTube days for old games and everything before the ads and censorship. Could watch so many show both live, cartoon, anime etc.

Still remember some early day gems like numa numa, Chris Crocker, Wow pvp and other funny vids etc.

You just hurt that KCD will never been as beloved as Oblivion or Elder Scrolls in general...

Feelings don't change that.
