Josef Fares (It Takes Two, Split Fiction) reacts to Youtube comments

I ve seen only one trailer and how overwhelmengly positive are the reviews. Tell me, Is Split Fiction woke or not? What do honest opinions say about this game? Who played? Is this game bearable? Characters from the Split Fiction's trailer looked like Wolfenstein Youngblood protagonists

I bet he and Neil Cuckman stare at each other, wondering who will last longer.

I remember seeing this game on that game show a few weeks ago. Don't know anything about this guy and had no interest in any of his past games with a quick google search. Hate nasty sick woke shit as much as any sane person. But from watching a trailer and review, I don't really see anything woke about it at the moment, just not a game I'll be into. The two character going through so many different realities/dimensions seems a bit interesting though.

People calling it woke are just sad lonely people who have no-one to play a co-op game with. The developer's track history speaks for itself, they're just so much fun and proud to be videogames, no shitty politics or wokeness shoved in. There's nothing woke about having female protagonists, that's like calling tomb raider woke just because you play as a girl.

I want to trust you, but what you typed sounds like a very biased take. Half of your messege is your personal delusions about people you don't like. It's hard to believe such words.

I want to know facts. Are there agenda in this Split Fiction?? Do the protagonists in this game behave like human beigns or they are cringe?

I have this question not because any female characters necessarily behave like that (I like any of the Tomb Raider games, as you mentioned this series, i like Jill Valentine, Alyx Vance and even damn Max and Chloe from Life is Strange, they were ok, as many other actually well witten female protagonists), but I ASK THIS because I remember Far Cry New Dawn, Youngblood and other games, where characters of this type were unbearable.

This is my direct question without unnecessary nonsense. Do the characters in Split Fiction behave like normal people (like characters of any gender and race behaved in games until late 2010th)???
Or are they like characters in all sorts of Youngbloods - making unfunny jokes, acting entitled, etc???????

This is a completely logical question, after the many games like Lost Records, New Dawn, Youngblood and so on, where the diverse female protagonists were unbearable, to find out if they are the same in this game. Or is everything normal in Split Fiction?

Hope someone more neutral answers if there is any shitty politics or wokeness shoved into Split Fiction?

Because i actually want to decide if to buy Split Fiction or not.

It's not woke at all so far. 2 hours in and it's one of the best games I've ever played for female representation. They look and act like actual real young women but aren't sexualized at all. They have actual personalities and flaws.

Thank you. I guess that means Split Fiction is definitely worth playing.

Yeah, I'm sure he's getting flak for this game being woke (whether it is or not, I have no idea - I know nothing about the game). But it's one thing to not like overtly woke stuff, it's another thing to assume that everything is woke due to having X, Y, or Z and that's mostly what I've been seeing lately to a ridiculous degree. Much like Avowed's art style getting the "omg purple/pink barf" slander when it doesn't even accurately describe the game.

I had someone try to tell me the other day a 10+ year old game called "Heroine's Quest" was woke simply because the main character is a woman. That game I do know a lot about and there's nothing woke about it, it's old, it's meant as a compliment to the original name of Quest for Glory, "Hero's Quest", and simply has a female protagonist this time. Otherwise it's a literal love letter to that series in terms of design and scenario. Are we going to go back and say Tomb Raider on PSX/PC/Saturn is woke now? I'm so tired of it already.

Come to think of it, I received the same bs complaint about "The Crimson Diamond" - again, merely because it's a female protagonist. There's a common theme there - in both cases the person had no knowledge or actual information about the game, but made knee-jerk attacks calling them "woke" when they are anything but. I'm all for getting rid of the woke shit... but let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater.
Just one factor doesn´t make a game woke. For example, just having 2 women protagonists doesn´t say anything.

But if you have a game with 2 women protagonists where one evil white man capitalist does some kind of experiment on these 2 women who have to go through plenty of danger because of the greed/ambition/whatever of the white man who kind of forced a woman and a black man scientist to work for him... then you start to have a case of wokeness

The story of woke games is always the same: the world would be an amazing place if white men in positions of power weren´t so evil and/or incompetent. What woke people don´t understand is that your sex or race is not a good indication of whether or not you are trustworthy or essentially a good person. In that way, woke people are the same as bigots. Only that their racism and sexism is in the opposite direction.

I've played every one of these games with my daughter, and I would absolutely never play woke shit with my reason for living as I don't want to corrupt her mind. His games are not woke in absolutely any way, shape, or form. His sensibilities are much more akin to film makers of the 70's through the 90's, and there is absolutely zero talk of gender or race based politics whatsoever.

These games are fun, and genuinely touching as well for anyone who has kids or has raised a family. They are absolutely stellar experiences, some of the best I've ever gone through, and I'll be going through this one with my daughter as well, and I absolutely cannot wait.

Annnd go where though? Resetera? Love it or Hate it, GAF is... home.

I mean....yes. That's an option. If one doesn't like this forum, one can go to Era. Yeah they're a bunch of absolutely psychotic loonies, but hey, it's an option if someone acts like they hate it here. I understand frustration, (my big frustration with the place is the console warring has gotten way, way, way out of hand and moderation has gotten extremely lax on it), but I don't get popping into threads just to bitch about the forum in general when there are other options, regardless of how inferior they are.

I don't think that's what happened here though? People are clearly thirsting over Fares and Neil and astute analog_future analog_future accurately pointed it out. I mean... they both are kinda hot, so... what safer space to express our latent, unfulfilled, forbidden desires than GAF?
