Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington has committed suicide

Holy shit...RIP

I will always have a soft spot for Linkin Park and this hits hard. Wayne Static last year (edit: wow that was 3 years ago) and now Chester...

edit: A local alt rock station played Shadow of the Day this morning as I was driving to work, I believe before this news was out. An awfully dark coincidence if so. That song and Breaking the Habit, both on the darker side for LP, are two of my favorite songs. Damn....

LP was my life in my early teens. I moved on as I grew but always had a soft spot for them. Chester had an incredible voice and the band was always brave and sincere in trying to evolve their sound.

RIP and my thoughts are with his family, friends and bandmates.

It's almost impossible. I did one play through of each after this news hit, and I don't think I can play either one of those songs for a good while now

I was gonna see them for their Seattle show. I was so hyped I was playing a LP playlist every time I was in the gym. This is surreal.

I'll never forget the world premier I heard in Kroq to Linkin Park in the end.

Listening to kroq right now and it's sad hearing Dr. Dru, Kat and bean talk about this sad story.

My favorite band as a teenager. Still enjoyed most of their output well into the present day.

Knowing about Chester's troubled past gives new light to some of the songs that a lot of people mocked for being too emo.

R.I.P.

I was just singing crawling in my skin and having a good laugh. Now I feel sad and like a huge jerk.

RIP. I liked his gundam exvs song.

LP turned me on to music. I never cared about music before listening to them, so Chester was pretty influential to me growing up. Even if I haven't listened to them in a few months, I've always appreciated LP and Chester. Legit teared up a bit at work when I heard the news.

RIP

One of my favorite bands to listen to while I was in college. Their music was a big part of my life and though I haven't heard their music much in years, gonna listen to some tracks today.

Obviously Linkin Park is not Linkin Park without Chester. Wasn't into their music past the 2nd album. I remember seeing them at the House of Blues in 2000 in Myrtle Beach opening for Project86, Hed Pe, and P.O.D.

RIP, I am devastated. LP is one of the few things I admired for such a long time. Don't even know what to say. Condolences to the family, friends and other fans.

Well I'll never be able to listen to Crawling in jest any longer. It's sad he was suffering so much.

The belief in alpha male bravado and that mental illness is bullshit need to end. If not, more and more people are going to take their own lives.

Fuck, Linkin Park was a staple of my Junior and High School years. Gonna have a long listen to some of their albums today. Guess I can't really make fun of LP's music in jest anymore.

RIP.

This news sucks, it saddens me that the last LP album (which wasn't anything resembling LP) is going to be the final one.

End of an era. Fuck.

I started listening to them through an older friend during the summer between Middle school and High school. I never understood the hate for them.

One of the first bands I can remember liking on a level I hadn't before.

RIP Chester

I was 14 when Hybrid Theory came out and just got a new CD player. Listened to it over and over while reading The Wheel of Time books. Always though the lyrics matched up well with the books. Hadn't listened to them in over 10 years. Listening to those songs now makes it really hit hard.

RIP Chester

Well damn..

Was just in Vegas last week and there were posters everywhere for them coming to MGM Grand in September and I pointed out to my friends how awesome that would be since we all listened to them in high school :(

I really wouldn't say it didn't resemble LP

I mean when they goofed around with a nu metal version of heavy (starts around 1:30) it made it clear how it isn't that different. It's still LP, just with a softer tone to it.

Wow! Saw them last month and did not see this coming. Horrible news, six children without a father :(.

Much like Paramore's new album, One More Light is full of legitimate sadness, masked by pop music.

This is really hard for me to process.
