Lords of the Fallen Reddit Drama Unfolds as Devs Start a New Sub to Avoid Political Chatter

Lords-of-the-Fallen-Update-1536x864.jpg.webp

Last month, the game’s developers posted a question on the game’s now-unofficial subreddit asking whether they preferred that the body types players can create are named “A” and “B” or as “male” or “female.” The players voted overwhelmingly on the latter, which prompted the developers to include this naming change in a patch released in January

This did not sit well with the current mods of the subreddit, which then stripped the developers of any admin powers.

In response to this, the developers have started their own subreddit, which they call the official The Lords of the Fallen subreddit. CI Games CEO Marek Tyminski announced it over on X/Twitter, where the executive said, “Join our new community-run Reddit page for Lords of the Fallen – the ONLY subreddit we’ll be supporting moving forward! Stay tuned for exclusive updates and enjoy gaming-focused discussions (no politics!) – the way a gaming page should be.”

The first Lords of the Fallen subreddit (unofficial one) had members leave, proclaiming that the mods are power-mad, as they delete threads and ban users that do not align with their views.

As a mod of an official Reddit you must align with the company, if you don't like them you quit, you don't secede.
By the way, do people really write down "Reddit mod" in their résumé/CV?
Yes….also many people use “community leadership” roles (think managing guilds in WoW) as prior marketing experience. I know a person hired into a mid to high tier IT management position that swears they got the role due to their “legendary raid management”.

Mods and their behavior is one of many things ruining reddit and many big subreddits have strict censorship in place, pretty much making it impossible to have two-sided discussions.

I wouldn't be surprised if the new subreddit is banned though, admins can also be a bit retarded.

lol the mods accused the CEO of supporting fascism because he fucking posted a poll on X, banned all links to X on the subreddit, then banned everyone who voiced their dissent or asked for proof of the supposed “fascism” in the comments for the announcement.

Then they opened a separate “discussion thread” after they had already banned all dissenters in the announcement thread… and the overwhelming opinion was still that their policy change was a stupid mistake.

The mods should’ve resigned. They turned the sub into a big public embarrassment and completely lost the support of the community. How delusional do you have to be to keep hanging on to power after that?

This is great, reddit mods (and wikipedia mods, and bluesky mods, and resetera mods..) are retarded leftist authoritarians unable to tolerate any kind of dissent. Removing them from power or bypassing them wherever possible is just and moral thing.
Ive been noticing this more and more, honestly i should of noticed it sooner. It seems like everything has now hit 100mph all of sudden, my local state reddit sub is a complete disaster.. shoot even r/pics is a complete mess.

Don't sleep on this game guys, it's awesome. Give it 1 hour at least then enjoy your Dark Souls 4. It's better than ever with latest patches.

Somebody needs to bust that shit up like they did with Twitter. Mods are authoritarian and politically biased. The site is too big and important to let it continue to go unchecked. Liberate Reddit. Bully pulpit and lateral pressure would do wonders. Somewhere there is a man who could and would shut these rogue mods down if he lost a penny over it. Best thing the Reddit mods could do for themselves is keep this shit lowkey and don’t attract global attention. They are doing the opposite.

Why so much drama and angst over such a mediocre game?

Actually, it's in a preeettty good state right now Danny and I'm actually enjoying it more than something like Lies of P (which I've also completed).

This, for 20+ Eurodollars that it's going for atm, and especially on the PS5 Pro, is frankly a bargain, shame that it released in a shitty state...

Yeah? That's actually kind of tempting - it felt like one of those games that was kind of 50/50 as to whether they'd fix the myriad issues with it. Cool that they actually did.

Not that any of it excuses the stupidity of the reddit drama, of course.

Guy should just stay off reddit entirely, it's a cesspool of lunatics.

Maybe. But I don't like seeing devs capitulate to activists either. In my view the more studios that simply withdraw from these toxified communities the better, because I'm very confident it'll end up revealing how unrepresentative of the majority of the audience these extremists are.

The no-politics rule here has been very positive, even if I do think it can make politics-adjacent game discussion a bit tricky to thread the needle on.

As it should.
Never, absolutelly never give power to social woketards.

You give some people power, no matter how insignificant an amount it may seem, and they will abuse it to the extent possible (i.e. power tripping).

The reddit modopoly needs breaking up. I think most people are mistaking the pushback against the 'woke' elements as including the opposite spectrum of that (e.g. waifus, dudebro etc). It's not though it's more about the pushback existing at all, or the rejection of the ideology.
