Amazon too? Amazing. Saw this earlier today.

I think woke related games, tv, films, and marketing campaigns flopping over the last few years has made a lot of companies wake up to this, as well as a certain election lol.

And before the wokists come in with 'x film did well and is woke!', yes people can be fickle with this shit if it involves something very popular (Deadpool vs Wolverine doing well, flipside the 'boycott Modern Warfare' meme).
But on the whole, overlall, woke related products are underperforming badly, and that is undeniable.

Yep. Just the fact that people can come out say, "we don't jibe with the woke DEI nonsense" is huge. Two years ago that would have been way too problematic.

It's a shame we had to lose formerly great studios like Volition to this toxic ideology.

Add some more enemy variety in the game and get that animation right. I got both games but they need to improve further.

due to this message, if this game end up to be successfull, it might gonna partly play role in knock down DEI domino

no need to be a good game. but enough it attract people and sold well due to no DEI.

...Hill continued, the lower than expected commercial performance of some of these games shows that many players do not appreciate these elements. As such, the studio will continue to develop experiences that maximize player enjoyment and commercial success.

It's wonderful that we're in a timeline when a Director in gaming is finally publicly saying what has been evident for a long time to many gamers.

Rumors are that Epic purchased LoT2 because they were impressed with what they saw

Yeah, this is exactly where I'm at. I've wanted to give the games a shot but I know they lack polish in areas where I'd want more polish. If they can overcome that, cool. Still gotta make solid games regardless.

This is great and all, but I think the game needs a name change.
Something like...

The Second Lords of the Fallen Lords: Part Two: Sequel Edition

It wouldn't be from lack of disabled black lesbian trans characters.

The pendulum is swinging back in the opposite direction now. This is clear. But I hope the anti-DEI crew are waiting to embrace for the "HAHA we told you say" posts and articles that they'll receive when their beloved "non-DEI" games fail commercially also because the game is MID.

Nice to see a dev with some guts. Seems as though many companies are ridding their sickness of DEI that has infected their companies. Sanity just may be coming back to the world.

I still hate the game's ending and the way it was done, I wish they would have done a DLC to fix the endings. There was nothing DEI in the first game, and this feels like trying to generate hype about the sequel for antiwoke people

It's not guts, this is nowhere near the first person to say this recently. It's the new trend. You're probably going to see a lot more, too (either loudly or quietly) if this becomes what makes companies money.

I get it, but most of these devs need to just keep quiet about it. No need to talk a create rage in either side.

I look forward to when devs just make games again. The real diversity comes when devs are allowed to just create their visions, unimpeded by corporate check boxes or either side of the political spectrum.

Just make the games and don't listen to the noise.

I guess that's what you call... Democracy. 🤷‍♀️
I love that they're doing a public poll. Everyone can see that the majority of consumers prefer traditional gender options and the forced "Body Type A/B" nonsense only exists to appease a small number of ideologues. These results no doubt apply to all the performative horseshit we've been seeing the last few years. Womp womp.

we understand that just because a game isnt woke there is a possibility that it wont be great , we are not idiots

but i can digest a mediocre game , i cant digest a mediocre game with woke elements

for example Dragon age veilguard , if the game wasnt so keen on teaching me about pronouns and trans problems i would have played it

They're doing a poll and have committed to abiding by the results - male/female is winning by a landslide so far.

Edit: Added tweet.

Man, while I always disliked political correctness (that would be "woke" and "DEI" for the younguns), the way the devs are going about this thing just screams "hey look at us, we're with y'all" and "we hear you !", it's - basically - attention whoring and "how do you do fellow kids.gif" all rolled into one.

These are the same people that are gonna do yet another 180 in a few years if the pendulum swings back again to the now status quo.

It's free marketing for them and I'm not buying it.
I always hated attention whores/whoring and being taken for a ride...

I'm putting people on to the fact that the "new" thing to do is "Anti-DEI marketing". It's literally the exact opposite of what some of these current games are/were doing. They aren't sure if their game will be mid or not, so they market it to the collective that hates everything DEI. With the hopes of securing mindset and a purchase.

Well, it's good news in a sea of so much disappointment happening with the industry; it's progress, right? Now the focus should be on delivering quality content, because there's little point in not having a progressive agenda in a game if, in the end, you deliver a mediocre title.

You may be right, especially about the motives behind stuff like this. However, the original information about not focusing on DEI was not stated in a performative way by the company - it was shared in an investor chat. Next a person on Twitter commented about the Body A and B stuff and the company responded to that and later went on to make the poll. What I'm seeing so far is an effort to listen to customers and that's something positive compared to the usual condescending attitude we get (you know, gamers are toxic, bigoted, etc.).

Personally, I'm waiting to see if these changes are implemented when the game releases. The return of male/female, for example. Several gaming media sites are already writing hit pieces on the company, as well. If nothing else, I applaud their willingness to go against the activists on these sites and Twitter - not too many have been willing to in the past.
