This week, several major publications amp up their Emmy coverage, singling out Jon Hamm, John Slattery and Christina Hendricks, in addition to the show, as major contenders. Check out the mentions below for links on all newsy things Mad Men.

• Both Jon Hamm and John Slattery are included in The Hollywood Reporter's list of "The Magnificent Seven" of 2011 Emmy nominees.

• Variety says Christina Hendricks could win the Supporting Actress Emmy this year due to her ability to provide "an insightful look at what's its like to be boys' mother hen and fantasy sex kitten -- all at once."

• In analysis of this year's Outstanding Writing Emmy nominees, Variety claims the only thing going against Mad Men's "Blowing Smoke" and "The Suitcase" is that they're competing with each other.

• Variety also takes a look at why John Slattery might take home the Supporting Actor Emmy: "Slattery has been a vital cog in the Mad Men machine."

• Deadline Hollywood interviews 2011 Emmy-nominated costume designer Janie Bryant and hair department head Lucia Mace about how they chose which episodes to submit for Emmy consideration.

• Bryant is also in the news talking about her Mad Men Banana Republic collaboration: TIME Magazine, The Hollywood Reporter, The Seattle Times and Detroit News.

• The Miami Herald and Nola.com discuss the new BBC America series, The Hour, and its similarities to Mad Men, conceding that "Mad Men has done [the 1960s] most famously."

• Indiewire.com reports that Rosemarie DeWitt (Midge) is in talks to star in a new comedy, Neighborhood Watch, with Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn.

• The San Francisco Chronicle gives detailed instructions on how to experience Mad Men NYC-style.

• The New York Daily News weighs in on the events leading up to Kurt Sutter's exit from Twitter and calls Mad Men "one of the shows that makes TV worth watching."

the suitcase might be the best episode of television i have ever seen. never has a television show made me cry before. i really really hope it wins.

i just caught up with this show on Netflix.. it is insane television.

no drop in quality from season to season. i really hope Elisabeth Moss wins lead actress.

It's still too bad that Breaking Bad isn't in the running this year.

It's funny that the article doesn't mention that this is the actual reason why Mad Men is getting such awards buzz this year :p

I'm not familiar with the rest of the people in her category but Moss was perfectly cast as Peggy. And she does so much for the writing. +1 for Moss even though she follows a hokey religion.

The Suitcase is probably the episode that was sent in for Elisabeth Moss as well.

And for Christina Hendricks, The Summer Man.

And strangely ironic, since it was reportedly Mad Men's contract disputes that caused AMC to delay this season of Breaking Bad until after it was out of contention.

Slattery submitted the abortion episode, ergo sorry Tyrion but your ass is grass. And next year Aaron Paul will be back in the running in this category, so I don't think the imp will see any Emmy love then either.

Damn straight, season four was fantastic.

I wasn't aware that she is a Scientologist. How disappointing.

I hope they get a new office. Slattery's hair makes it look like hes not even in the scene being shot. It all blends into his hair.

Moss didn't have as much screen time last season, but what she did have she killed. Hamm and Moss should both win for The Suitcase.

I love Hamm in the show, but Slattery deserves every fucking Emmy there is.

Granted, he has the opportunity to show off a bit more since he's character is much more loud, but he's been fantastic since day one. Time for recognition.

While I loved The Suitcase, the scene where Draper cries was weak acting from Hamm. He shouldn't have looked down. Not only did it look like he didn't know how to act, it also seemed terribly out of character.

But it would suck if Hendricks got an Emmy and Peggy didn't.
Moss is too inconsistent from episode to episode. Hendricks, meanwhile, has created one of the most heartbreaking characters in all of television. Flawless performance and much more layered to boot.

I loved The Suitcase, but honestly my fave episode from that season was the one where this GIF came from:

Or maybe I'm just saying that because I loved that scene so much. No words were used and yet it was one of the most poignant moments on television I've seen.

I guess we'll just have to disagree. I think Moss might be the best part of the show and Hendricks and her character the weakest.

C'mon, Hamm will have at least two more opportunities to get an Emmy.
No, because next year Cranston will be back and he is (rightfully) impervious to defeat.

Also, Hamm in The Suitcase is one of the great performances in history and should be acknowledged.
