The start-up icon for the game looks nice:

It’s supposedly 9.8GB large in file size. For reference the largest Switch game made by Nintendo is Zelda: TotK at 18.2GB. So seems pretty meaty.

I don’t know who still needs to hear this, but file size has nothing really to do with volume of game content. Certain assets take up more space than others, is really all it means. 🤷‍♂️

Sure, but I’d still like to think it give some indication when it’s from the same company. If this had been, say, 20GB, and take the top spot that’d be making news headlines.

I think we all know Nintendo works with very simplistic textures, rarely includes voice acting, etc. etc. So given that they optimize their content similarly across the board I think it does give an idea of some things. Not necessarily game length, but content and scope in general.

The game has apparently leaked already.

Seems like the earliest Switch leak yet, iirc TotK leaked 12 days prior to its official release.

Stay safe out there!

Yup i saw the whole case of games pics leaked on twitter now just waiting for the usual types to come into the thread and brag about how it's superior on pc via emulation & they really bought their own copy to rip and not that they stole it from a torrent online as if they were actually honest the mods would ban their ass for piracy so they try to pretend they bought it just like the zelda theads for TOTK & EOW.

It’s just all depends on when a game physically ships and is in distribution channels. All it takes is one person to steal a copy, or a box of copies.

The Nintendo games running UE are starting to pile up. Have you seen any confirmation of the developer yet?
It’ll be in the credits. Reporting over the summer was ILCA comprised of a lot of former Alphadream staff. Nintendo no longer publicly announces specific developers/ teams/ external partners anymore.

So Hideki Sakamoto is confirmed as the composer of Mario & Luigi: Brothership.. Not really sure what he’s done previously.

But no more Yoko Shimomura.

Hopefully the OST is still great though.

Bunch of low level stuff, but back in 2008 he put out one of the best OSTs in all of gaming; Echochrome. Assuming this is the same guy, since I don't see a Mario credit on there yet.

From the Wiki, he also made Lifelight from SSBU

Japanese Wiki have more info: He also made OST for Toukiden, Natsumon, RPG Time, ROTK 14, Yakuza 2,3,4, 428: Shibuya Scarmble

Eh, it honestly doesn’t matter. All that matters is if the music is great or not. Name ID in gaming circles is low importance vs the music itself. I had no idea who the composer for XCX was before, I don’t believe he did the first one at all, and that game has some of the best music in all of gaming. They picked a well-known Sci-fi composer, and fuck like he knocked it out of the park. You hear like one bar of music, and you know it’s XCX. So good.

Sure, good music is good music. But you can say that about literally anything. Given the choice of this dude or Shimomura I’d pick Shimomura every time.

But you couldn’t say that definitively, and nobody would ever have the answer to that. If she never composed the game, we don’t know what songs she would’ve come up with. Maybe it wouldn’t have been some of her best work. Maybe it would’ve been GOAT-level. 🤷‍♂️ it’s impossible to know. You can’t prove a hypothetical. All we have is what we have. That’s why if you don’t know who the composer is, it would be a real shame to let that negatively impact your expectations of the game’s music, especially before you’ve even played through it.

Just let the work speak for itself.

Oh I agree, I’ll happily play through it and be all ears. But it’ll be compared to Shimomuras past work, which is outstanding. Just like, say, a GTA game made by Bloober Team would be compared to past GTA games made by R*.

Not saying it can’t match or even surpass it, but man, that’s a high bar.
