No, the first one is just part of her dialogue progression. The second one is the actual romance, which you can only have one of. They won't even fight each other like they did in the first game, they just ask you to choose when you talk to them individually.
No doubt the combat is fun, but I attribute it mostly to the Brothers in Arms style squad commands. THAT is the biggest improvement from the past game for me. The improvements to the core combat handling seems to all be aiming directly at Gears. So, while there are only a couple major changes towards being more Gears, it feels like almost every aspect at least made a shift in that direction.
Actually using my squad is awesome. The game still doesn't give you that many reasons to care about them though. They are basically just there to use powers when you're recharging your own. :lol
I almost never revive them if they die, I just wait for combat to end so they can just stand up. I've hit the "3" button, like, 2 times the entire game to revive them.
Sounds like your playing on normal/Veteran at best. If you don't see the value in keeping your squad mates alive during combat then either up the difficulty or move along.
you encounter the awesome Tali and its shitty crew
and Ive seen one thing that is the only thing I really dont like if they have get rid of it.
Have te conversations with the crew while you are walking with them been completly removed, do they talk ala Dragon Age between them (as they took out the elvator conversations)?
If they talk like in Dragon Age all its good. But if they dont talk between them or with you when you visit different locations to know their opinion, I will be very sad.
How is Warp vs Reave? I was thinking of maxing warp and taking warp ammo, since it appears that Barrier/Fortification doesn't stack with Tech Armor (if only).

I agree. I feel like the game didn't end up improving on Mass Effect 1. It just changed the positives and negatives around.
I don't have confidence that ME3 will be better. The game show a lack of thoughtful design in the kind of way that feels like it'd be persistent, but manifested in different ways.
I suppose you could be right. ME3 could end up almost a straight shooter if they keep streamlining it. Which, while fine (since I love shooters), is not what I want Mass Effect to be.
Fuuuuuuuck! My specialist died. Apparently I needed to go after the crew immediately, instead of running around setting up Tali's romance. And I have no old saves, so I'm stuck with this one
Just normal I believe, died only like ~7 time through the whole game, played as a soldier. Bought all ship upgrades, most every upgrade useful to my character, (such as mini-nuke, full heavy upgrade, full pistol upgrade, full AR upgrade, full sniper, and some random others like health and shields and characters maxed)
From what I've seen, difficulty wouldn't change much since when you die, you reload and the time you spent in that battle isn't counted. Unless you were going from Steam's game data tracker.
At least it seems the have not take it completly out. That conforts me.
In ME you had 2 or 3 different quotes (for every character) for every story driven planet when you asked your team while walking.
Then you had the differnt quotes between them is Citadel elavators, another 2 or 3 for every differnt pair of teamates.

There's a fair bit less it seems, but I attribute that to the lack of ability to directly ask them questions when you're on story planets and the lack of elevators.
But they do make comments every now and then about the situation you're in. Doing the Archangel mission as well as finding Mordin had Zaeed make a lot of comments, and doing Jack's loyalty quest had Archangel saying a fair bit too.
The more 'custom' style of random sidequests also allows for more random input from the characters.
In total it probably feels less because there's less banter. Your squadmates will rarely talk between themselves. That being said, they seem to comment on a number of situations for a number of missions, which in total probably gives them more lines of dialogue.

I've spent over 6 hours scanning already, but I think that's only half of the possible mining. I have all the upgrades you can buy after finishing Omega, Purgatory and Tuchanka, plus all the ship upgrades available from those party members, and still have 250,000 of each mineral.

No, but the game is harder and the combat will take longer. I'm probably going to end at nearly 45 hours to do everything everything. Though I am posting on GAF and eating and other things while playing.
yeah scan only for minerals when you need to upgrade don't scan for the hell of it.
edit never mind I thought you guys were talking about when to scan?
As for playtime first play was 31 hours playing straight only stopping to eat and use the head. Did every quest I got and found scanned all the planets did the anomalies. I upgraded fully, scanned for resources when I needed.
second play through did it less then 21 hours skipped dialogues and side quest. Upgraded all the way except for the medical bay thing and for some reason I scanned more then I should have had plenty of resources left.

Yeah. It actually didn't trigger all that frequently in Dragon Age, either - I remember wanting more of the banter, especially after someone dug in to the code and saw just how much banter dialogue there is in that game (there is a ton). There's definitely still more than in ME2 by default, though.
It's still great when it happens in ME2. I played some of the
Collector ship
level last night, with Zaeed and Thane, and they were talking quite a bit (both single random comments as well as direct replies to each other).
The whole sequence out at the galactic center felt so great, with the lighting and atmosphere. And the Terminator at the end. :lol
Not sure how I was supposed to save my entire team, though. Not that it bothers me, I only lost Tali and Zaeed.
Overall, the game was a much more polished experience than the first. Other than minor gripes (Illusive Man's voice never felt right; Shepard's weird shift to being a 17 year old when talking about sex) I had a blast. I'm definitely going to go for future playthroughs to see how things pan out differently.
The PC version feels sloppy compared to ME1, I can't scroll menus with the mousewheel and I can't assign keys to bring up the journal and profile screens? sigh... I guess I'll get used to it.
Other than that - it runs better, looks better and plays (combat) better than the first game, liking it so far.
I noticed a lot of big hints on plot points for ME3 and what the repercussions for some of the bigger choices are in the Mission Complete screens. Check out the description section for the mission you finish carefully. I think I see how things are shaping up and I like it, although I screwed myself for ME3 with most the big choices I made in both games except that all of my team in both games lived except
Kaiden
I see the GAF backlash has started in this thread and you guys are really entertaining me with your disgusting comparisons to Gears, so much so that I can't wait for the total megatomic meltdown people are gonna have in the Final Fantasy XIII thread when they find out how dumbed down and gimped that game is... The mods can go ahead and set aside a slot in the archives for that one right now.
You can transfer ordinary save files, just not the main profile one, which is the one you need. So maybe you could load a late game save and complete Mass Effect on your new account?
I got 6 hours into ME2 and just could not take it anymore. I have mentioned it a few times now, but many moons ago, my saves got detached from my profile. All my game saves were then rendered useless. So, despite my 1000/1000 in Mass Effect 1, I was going into ME2 with no data. Because I made the 'good' decisions in my first and most memorable playthrough of ME, I figured I would not be missing too much. It seemed logical that this would be close to the default background ME2 would conjure up for those with no saves.
However, after six hours of being accused of
letting the council die
, putting humanity before everyone else, watching Captain Anderson get treated like a bitch by Udina when I specifically
gave him the big "fuck you" at the end of the original and put Anderson on the council
, I just could not take it anymore.
With so much game in front of me, and not being certain of how the default game would handle the history of Wrex, (big deal to me) I went and rented ME1 and burned through it in 6.5 hours. I made all my desired decisions and am now back in the saddle. The game feels so much better with my hand being involved in the story. Another plus; my ME1 Shepherd, when transfered over, came out much hotter than my initial attempt when I started the sequel.
I cannot believe they managed to pull this off in 2 years. The game is incredible. I love most of the changes, esp. concerning party equipment, it eliminated my biggest gripe, that you always kept same party members whole game because they were the most upgraded. Here everything goes together, so you can mix setup anytime you feel like it.
I also love the weapon system. Think of it as upgrades = guns. I never care for 100 guns in a game, most of use use 10% of it.
I also love the missions idea - make them more, but varied and <30min. That's exactly what I wanted. Every mission is a different story, with polished environment.
Lots of new ideas to the RPG genre, I would love to see them picked up by other game studios (FFXIII seems to be going in the same direction - linear, streamlined but packed experience, at least from the previews).
P.S. I don't see how anyone can play ME2 without their ME1 character, to anyone saying that changes are minor - LIES. If you played ME1 you will wow! and wow! again and again after meeting lots of ME1 characters.
Btw, just went to
Ilum
. Incredible place. I also love the loyalty missions,

You *could* have downloaded a ME1 save to save you the trouble of playing through it again But playing with a save file from a run you did feels more personal.
Quick question does anybody know what happens to the game if you did not recruit in ME1 and import. I think it was possible not to recruit me1 right? Just read Garrus and Wrex you could leave them on the citadel in Me1 I wonder how they worked that out if you import.

So this morning I decided to go through and 100% each system. Scanning for anomalies and such since I beat the game. Some of the anomaly missions are actually pretty good. Well I found this planet called Preying Mouth in the Relic system of the Eagle Nebula. The reason I decided to mention this is because of the description they give for the planet. It reads.
TRAVEL ADVISORY: Due to the large number of ships lost when attempting to discharge their drive cores in Preying Mouth, the Relic system highly recommends using First Land's complimentary discharge system instead.
I got around 30 hrs and it was a lot of scanning for upgrades and doing a lot of side quests. Also talking to everyone and letting people talk. I don't skip conversations the 1st time around.
How is Warp vs Reave? I was thinking of maxing warp and taking warp ammo, since it appears that Barrier/Fortification doesn't stack with Tech Armor (if only).
Just finished the game, took me 19 hours, did only a few side missions and a couple ship missions. Played on veteran, i didn't like the collectors much
What is the bonus to Paragon/Renegade scores i.e. +100% Paragon/Renegade? Does it mean that for an action I will get double the amount of P/R points? Why would anyone want to do that? Thinking Guardina vs. Raider for my Sentinel.
Finally beat it without losing members in the final mission (Yay trial and errors). Final completion time 30h32 min. I didn't like the ending at all. The final boss fight was out of the blue and kinda lame.
I can't believe people thought Saren was harder than this final boss. I guess you're more likely to die fighting Saren, but this boss took me like 20 minutes.
Wonder what you need to do for Shepard to not survive.
