Media Create Numbers: 2 - 8 Oct

The new Dengeki DS magazine has a top 50 DS games chart, and I think all but the 50th position sold more than 100k. I would pick it up but there's nothing interesting in the mag, and noone is that interested in MediaWorks data.

Actually... I would be very interested in it. MediaWorks had the DS juggernauts break 3M a week or two earlier than the other retailers. If it's not too much trouble, can you get it and scan it? :)

What are the system YTDs?

Again, these are the figures that I have.
DS Lite 4,983,903 YTD
DS 932,896 YTD
PSP 1,381,966 YTD

As for the others, all YTD
XBOX 360 77,354
PS2 1,127,143
GBASP 201,864
GBM 125,895
GC 67,071
GBA 3,117
XBOX 1,710

Mmm...I thought both PS machines would do a little better with the new releases (DB and Gundam).

I miss GameScience release list, damn, I don't know where to look for game releases this week :/

After a little search, seems big titles this week are Final Fantasy V Advance GBA and Bleach: Blade Battles PS2. Well, lets wait for first day sales.

Quite 'slow' week overall. It's quite interesting to note that PSPs hardware went up in the week Pokemon was released (from ~23k to ~25k) but then went down this week (from ~25k to ~21k).

DSL at 31 weeks: 4.82M
GBASP at 31 weeks: 1.65M
Time for GBASP to reach 4.82M: 98 weeks

"DS after DSL" at 31 weeks: 480K
"GBA after SP" at 31 weeks: 451K
Time for "GBA after SP" to reach 480K: 37 weeks

DS at 31 weeks: 2.57M
PSP at 31 weeks: 1.50M
GBM at 31 weeks: 477K

Graphically

In other perusings of many numbers...

Two weeks back I said it sounded like I was bashing the PSP to point out that my silly "If DS stopped selling, and PSP continued selling at this rate, when will it catch up?" figure had for the first time given a date in 2012. Well, this week it gave a date in 2013 (August 5).

Nothing else really jumps out. Not a particularly exciting week for useless MC statistics. So for kicks, I'll add in the DSL's trademark "flip the bird" bar chart.

Wow, big disappointment for Pokémon. The only way they can rectify this is if they continue selling 100k+ until Christmas.

If you are MS fans, it the comment should be : X360 on the rise in Japan.

Nice ruling, sp0rsk.

My Predictions for this week for titles of interest:
Code:
[U]COMGNET Raw	Formula	Estimate L-T-D:[/U]
1 Final Fantasy V Advance	358	*380	136,000	NEW
2 Pocket Monster Diamond	209	*940	196,000	1,270,000
4 Pocket Monster Pearl	147	*1020	150,000	1,131,000
3 Dragon Ball Z Sparking NEO	185	*360	67,000	331,000
6 New Super Mario Bros.	66	*480	32,000	3,264,000
7 Everybody's Tennis	58	*320	19,000	431,000
8 Gundam Battle Royale	51	*360	18,000	83,000
17 Final Fantasy III 14	*680	10,000	783,000

*Final Fantasy IV Advance debued (Last Dec.) on Comgnet at 255 or 97,000 according to m-c...

So FFV looks to outsell FFIVadv - as expected b/c FFIV had already been released on WS. FFVadv's healthy debue shows the GBA has life left but don't expect it to hav any legs especially considering FFVI's upcoming release...

NSMB and FFIII are looking really low - FFV seems reasonable, as do the two pokemon games.

Why you decided on 380 as multiplier for FFV Advance ? Instead of 255 like FFIV Adv ?

really?? If that is true then it is very good

but people have been giving out bullshit numbers lately

Sinobi claimed that it is the effect after FF3DS. More people are interested in old-school FF titles and S-E promoted it as a NDS game like Rhythm Tengoku.

Square, I suggest going back and fiddling a bit with the numbers - start checking them against Media Create and Famitsu first - try to get a more accurate approximation and extrapolation before posting them.

FFV is doing better then I expected. Pokémon will remain in the top 10 for looooong time.

Exactly, the kind of backslash he gets is pretty surprising...

Don't take his numbers as gospel and maybe you won't have problems with it.

It'll help a LOT promoting it as being playable on the DS. What gets me is how it seems people clearly aren't thinking about playing GBA games on DS...until they are TOLD they can do :/

Anyway, 100,000 in one day...hmm...so a possible 145,000 by the next chart is my guess.

5/10 Nintendo DS
2/10 PS2
1/10 GBA
1/10 PSP

I think that Final Fantasy III could be 11#. What scares me, is Animal Crossing: it is still in the top 10 after almost ONE year !!!!

Ha! It'll still be in the top 10 NEXT year, especially with that AC movie coming out.

And FFIII can't be at 11. That's BT's spot. :)

That's only 9. You forgot a PS2 game.

You're mixing Media-Create and Famitsu numbers. Brain Training fluxuates on Famitsu but has been stuck on #11 in Media-Create for over a month.

With that in mind, Final Fantasy III could still be in the top 10 in Media-Create, but, yes, FFV's release with advertising for the DS has probably eaten some into its numbers. Square-Enix is still happy, though. :p

Nothing but a bunch of trolling from people who said Gundam Batle Royale would drop out on week 2. Big debut PSP games always sit in the top 10 for at least 2-3 weeks before they drop completely.

GREAT to see Pokemon Diamond/Pearl still up there as well as New Super Mario BRos.

Just a joke for now...

...its the brain training game from rocket company, unknown small company. Its already a massive success for that company...

In this early enterbrain charts it has been 3 -> 4 -> 5. From MC I don't remember the spots but it was like 45k -> 40k. And doesn't seem to drop off this third week, we'll see.

Whoa. Who cares about FFIII, look at NSMB! It's a monster I tells you!

Only 5 ds-games? Pretty good showing for FF V, guess the "DS commercials" for the game helped. Pokemon just riding along, as expected. Just as NSMB. :)

If Dragon Ball Z Sparking Neo didn't screw it up, it would have been an awesome top 3 list.
