That's what I was thinking of. Rain was separate from the Top 10 here but this was apparently just "teaser data" before they starting releasing digital sales regularly.
Short answer: That top 10 ranking is useless. Ignore the positions. Look only at the sales.
Long answer: The teaser was the same thing they are doing now. It wasn't different. Famitsu prints only the top 30 games of the month ranked by the total physical + download sales. From these 30 games, they highlight the 10 with the most downloads.
They do not print the top 10 games with most downloads.
Example scenario of sales. To keep it shorter: I'll change top 30 -> top 5 and the downloads top 10 -> top 2
Famitsu calculate the sales for March.
1. Yokai Watch: 2k downloads + 50k physical = 52k total.
2. Project Diva F 2nd: 10k downloads + 35k physical = 45k total.
3. Pokemon Battle Trozei: 30k downloads + 11k physical = 41k total.
4. Samurai Warriors 4: 6k downloads + 30k physical = 36k total.
5. Battlefield 4: 4k downloads + 28k physical = 32k total.
6. Dekamori Senran Kagura: 31k downloads + 0 physical = 31k total.
Dekamori Senran Kagura is outside the Top 5.
Famitsu prints in the magazine only the Top 5.
Dekamori Senran Kagura is not in the magazine.
Famitsu ranks the highest downloads in the magazine.
1. Pokemon Battle Trozei: 30k downloads.
2. Project Diva F 2nd: 10k downloads
Dekamori Senran Kagura does not appear in the ranking.
But Dekamori Senran Kagura has sold more downloads (31k) than any other game. It's just not in the magazine because it didn't make the total Top 5.
