You don't have to be worried about Terry's Wonderland.
Thank you for putting my mind at rest. :3
You don't have to be worried about Terry's Wonderland.
Didn't really bomb; was an expansion of a DS title, IIRC.
DQM is the sort of title that does well.
[3DS] Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime 3 <ACT> (Square Enix) {2011.11.02} (¥6.090) - 38,859 / NEW <27,77%> (140,000)
LTD sales as of January 2012 - 108,286
The figures speak for themselves.
But isn't this a remake instead of a new title?
I think it did; it was heavily overshipped, and now you can find it pretty cheap.
But isn't this a remake instead of a new title?
While I'm not sure about being heavily overshipped or not,

I guess so. There was that Dragon Quest 3DS game that bombed last November though wasn't there?
Already posted, but OP hasn't been updated
I have a strange feeling DQM will bomb... After Kingdom Hearts DDD I feel the market is all over the place...

It had a 58% sellthrough at the end of the year, not 48%But yeah, not very good, but the sales expectations for this game were probably quite low. The PS3/Xbox 360 version was also released just about 1 month earlier, so that probably affected the sales a bit of the Vita version.
Yeah I agree some of these DQM predictions are kinda crazy.
Pokemon Black/White 2 is probably going to take over the charts entirely. I actually anticipate the biggest opening for any game in Japan ever for Black/White 2.
Why ? Isn't it charting at COMG below orginal Black/White ?
Hahaha people predicting DQM will only do 500k in a month.
Edit: But seriously, why do you think it will suddenly do much worse than the last 3 DQM games?
But the closest comparison for that type of product, its direct predecessors, sold several times as well.Green Slime said:While I'm not sure about being heavily overshipped or not, what I meant was, in terms of sales, for the type of product it was, it didn't bomb.

I think it will do more but, to be fair this is a remake and iirc Caravan Heart for GBA did ~600k. So a million isn't necessarily guaranteed for DQM.
TBF that was an awful example, might as well compare early MH games as reason for the next MH to not sell over a million. The context of the sales is missing....
[3DS] Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland 3D (5 weeks) - 400,000
[PSV] Gundam Seed: Battle Destiny (4 weeks) - 80,000
[PSV] Persona 4: Golden (3 weeks) - 180,000
[PS3] Lollipop Chainsaw (3 weeks) - 35,000
[NDS] Pokemon Black 2 / White 2 (2 weeks) - 1,600,000
[PS3] Atelier Ayesha (1 week) - 110,000
[3DS] Culdcept (1 week) - 10,000
How so?
Regarding DQM
You can import data from joker 2 and Joker 2 Pro
It's the first time there is a hardware limited edition for Dragon Quest
YSO predictions give a first week at 500k range when for DDD the range was 200k

Well I wasn't suggesting that that was the determining factor. Just that it is one thing to consider alongside the fact that the new DQM game is also a remake. Anyway, I was mostly playing Devil's Advocate...given the recent momentum the series carries, my feeling is that this game will perform very well; a million is realistic enough. You're talking about a single entry from nearly a decade ago, in a subseries that's otherwise performed much better, on a platform that had pretty different expectations attached to it. It's not unreasonable to take the franchise's entire history into account when making predictions, but drawing a straight line from CH's performance to "Terry's Wonderland Remake might not hit a million" makes little sense on its own.
Like, there are legit reasons one might bring up as to why DQM:TW might not perform very well, but none of them have anything to do with Caravan Heart.
I had no idea this DQM game was so popular.
