Very disappointing results indeed, but I have faith that MK8 will push a lot of systems this holiday season. The other platorms didn't just receive a sequel to a multimillion seller.
what is coming to the PS4 this holiday?
1.8m WII U sold in japan, could an extra 200k be possible by Dec?
lol the PS4 is near PS3 level, who would have thought
Pikmin 3 vs Mario Kart 8 hardware impact. (Famitsu)
Code:Pikmin 3 MK8 Week 1 HW 20728 19031 Week 2 HW 14024 (-32%) 12576 (-34%) Week 3 HW 10937 (-22%) 10366 (-18%) Week 4 HW 9432 (-14%) 8373 (-19%) Week 5 HW 9291 (-1.5%) ?
Yes. Only the Vita and 3DS above 10K.
Chill dude
they dont have any games yet
Just wait until Bloodborne, FFXV and KH3 hit

Sheesh, its only been out in Japan for like 4 months. Can we give it at least one holiday season before declaring the PS4 dead in Japan?
On the bright side, we can confirm that Pikmin is a system seller of Mario Kart proportions.

PS4 will be going through the rest of the year what Vita experienced during the dual storm period of Pokemon/Monster Hunter last year.
Current-gen won't begin in Japan till 2015.
Only one of those is coming 2015.

Nintendo should take note, their quaint strategy game has reached god-tier sales status. On the bright side, we can confirm that Pikmin is a system seller of Mario Kart proportions.
Probably not as interesting as you'd think.Another week with nothing much to say.
Freedom Wars releases this week so next time should be interesting.
Where have I heard all this before? ... Oh yeah, for the WiiU. The thing won't do anything in Japan, these numbers are too bad. And the chalkboard isn't exactly impressive either. FF15 (in two to three years, if we're lucky lol) will do about as much for it as Mario Kart now did for WiiU.
By the beginning of December? It would need to 8695 a week to get another 200k by early December. With the lack of releases throughout that time, I guess theres always a chance?

The idea that Japan is a lead market for home consoles is nonsensical these days.So the console market leader is only selling ~200K/month currently in the US and Japan combined, which historically are the two lead markets. Not a good current trend. It will be interesting to see when this rate increases...or if it drops even lower.

I have a terrible feeling this won't happen, still hope that it does. This year's TGS better be awesome.

Honestly I don't see much of a future for consoles in general in Japan.
The Japanese third parties collectively put up the poorest showing I've ever seen at an E3. They're not really interested in competing on this front anymore.
I think it speaks volumes that almost every larger scale Japanese console game shown there was published by a console vendor.
As I said in the past, Sony lucked out in the West because consoles are still dominant here, and because Microsoft shot themselves in the foot. A subpar launch lineup was irrelevant. How could Sony mess up PS4's Japanese release so much?

FF15 will most likely still be a million seller in its first few weeks, whereas Mario Kart is far off from that, so I'd think FF15's PS4 bump will be considerably higher than Mario Kart's Wii U bump.Where have I heard all this before? ... In Japan, the market has shifted. Consoles are done.

People said PS4 will struggle just like Wii U is west before it release i'm sure PS4 would o well if it had what Japanese want
Honestly I don't see much of a future for consoles in general in Japan.
It has no games here that people want. For all the people that make fun of Nintendo and Wii U sales, have we gotten an explanation for why the PS4 is selling worse there than in the US? I've seen a couple of these and it seems PS4 is getting beat consistently.
Horrible week.
Or horrible era?
