Uhm, according to Siliconera Yokai Watch was released today.
Truth? Expectations? Buzz?
I suspect bomba

Youkai Watch's sales must be analysed in the long run, not just because it's a Level 5 title, but also because the cross-media promotion won't start now, but later.
An anime tie-in game with no anime, only Level 5.
Why did the second Toriko bomb so bad compared to the first one? Time of release?10./00. [3DS] Toriko: Gourmet Battle! <RPG> (Bandai Namco Games) {2013.07.04} (¥5.980) - 12.489 / NEW <20%> 62.000 units shipped.

Wasn't the same with Inazuma Eleven?
I don't know, but that would explain why it debuted with 41k copies sold, lol.Wasn't the same with Inazuma Eleven?

Should do something for the WiiSkylanders was also released today, right? I think it was only being sold on toys'r us japan, so i'm interested if it will even make a dent for any console.
Hmm.That is still really really expensive for Japan, especially when the dominant platform goes for less than half that amount.
Level 5 should go back to being an outsourced company, their sales haven't been great recently (+ overshipped), not to mention the only thing good about their games are the graphics.

http://www.siliconera.com/2013/07/1...ed-world-red-sure-sounds-like-monster-hunter/
This quite confirms what I said earlier in the thread.
One Piece x Monster Hunter sure sounds like one hell of a combo.
Different genres, I believe. The PSP games were also in a different genre.
That description doesn't really sound like Monster Hunter... Can we really see it as a sign of MH clones appearing on 3DS?
The PS2 also had BC and DQVII.I'm not sure about Japan specifically, but I wouldn't be surprised if, when affordably priced, new systems will sell by virtue of being "real" next gen* systems alone.
*N.B. anyone who takes issue with this, I'm not interested in semantic discussions.
Wiki says the PS2 launched with:
Not sure whether that was supposed to be a killer launch line up to drive transition.
- A-Train 6
- DrumMania
- Eternal Ring
- Kakinoki Shogi IV
- Kessen
- Mahjong Taikai III
- Morita Shogi
- Ridge Racer V
- Stepping Selection
- Street Fighter EX3
The PS3 had a major price problem. And the 360 was the 360.
Not sure whether a potential 40K yen price will be too off-putting for the Japanese consumer though.
The story in YW is quite charming too. Layton also had good stories in the anime mystery/spectacle kind of sense. And doing a soccer RPG, that's a pretty ingenious idea (there already were anime soccer strategy games though).Level 5 should go back to being an outsourced company, their sales haven't been great recently (+ overshipped), not to mention the only thing good about their games are the graphics.
Where have you been all the time Takao?
With a good launch window lineup ( Yakuza, Tales, GT6, FF15) the 40k yen price would not be bad at all and PS4 could cement itself as the 2nd leading platform to 3ds. We are still way too far out to start analyzing the ps4 well though. All we know is that it should start better than ps3 at the very least
FFXV is launch window? I'm more expecting it to launch at the end of 2014 at the earliest
I think it's flat-out tragic what Level 5 did to Layton. Those games should have been an occasional treat, not an iterative, annualised treadmill.
Given it's a Level 5 title, 25-30% seems like usual business, isn't it?

Doesn't seem a good first day of sale for Youkai Watch according to retailers blogs.
Sellthrough from that blog:
Dead Island - 30-40%
Youkai Watch - 25-30%
Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection - 20%

Well it's like retailers are not learning at all and always order way too much ?
Does L5 give better terms to retailers than other Japanise publishers ?
Since all the Famitsu details have made it up onto Famitsu's site, here's a brief note about them. There's not really enough to give that much analysis so this will be shorter quips.
1.) Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2
- They didn't show much, but so far it basically looks the same as the last game with some minor graphical improvements. One thing of note is that they only sent Famitsu Vita screenshots despite the PS3 version looking a fair bit better, so presumably they still view that as the main platform. The way the official site is set up though leads me to believe they're still likely a simultaneous release though.
2.) Sengoku Basara 4
- For some reason the visuals in this game actually look slightly worse than the last game. It's kind of impressive in a bad way. That said, I'm not sure if that really has an impact on the fan base, but they aren't using their PS3 only status to improve things on a visual/technological level.
3.) Ranko Tsukigimes Longest Day
- This is the Short Peace game from Namco Bandai made by Crispys (Tokyo Jungle) and written by Suda51. Short Peace is a four part anime movie by the creator of Akira, and this game is seen as the fifth part. It's supposed to be a highly accessible 2D sidescrolling action game. Four screenshots were released, all of which look pretty much the same. I've included one below. Based on the concept and the screenshots in combination with the region, I'm not really expecting it to be a big hit, but I would have been very wrong about Tokyo Jungle's sales potential had you asked me to guess.
Looks a bit like shadow complex. Maybe if the movie does well the game could see some good sales.
On paper? Sure. The CPU is also still dual core.iPad 4 is more powerfull, actually.

47./00. [WIU] Dragon Quest X: Rise of the Five Tribes Online # <RPG> (Square Enix) {2013.03.30} (¥6.980)
Yeah the Vita has a few advantages in that it has dedicated VRAM, a quad core, and some extensions on the GPU along with a dedicated low level API.
That said, as of this Fall it will probably be trounced in performance to the point that it loses despite this, but only on the top end devices.
So this is what new Wii U owners are buying. What do you guys think the chances are that NSMBU will come back to the top 20 in next week's thread?
