Also I think if we ever needed confirmation that the old Wii/DS casual audience has entirely left to mobile, that Wii Sports Club performance has got to be up there with the Brain Age 3DS debut in the US.
And the fact that each copy of YW is about $50 means that Level 5 is making some serious bank.
About 210k behind the PS3.
Glad to see Wii Sports Club pulling its weight.
Perhaps those games shouldn't have been made for retail at all...
Just wait for XB1 launch week!Wii U up on PS4 again?
Return of the King.
Wow@YW2 - going straight for the 2 million like its nothing.
Why would you?

In Japan I could say that's a fair assumption. Kids still do play games (I mean, look at YW2 sales!), but Brain Age/Wii Fit audience is.. at least not buying WiiU, in Japan.
The only thing that "confirms" is that no one wants a completely unhyped remake of Wii Sports that uses basically the same assets, just in HD and with MotionPlus. Kind of like how NSMBU's performance doesn't necessarily mean that 2D Mario fans have "moved on," just that NSMBU isn't an attractive 2D Mario.

Not sure if this counts digital (don't think it does) but I imagine a heavy dose of Wii Sports Club sales are digital seeing as how they preload it on your system.
I'm not going to try and find my post since its embarrassing enough, but I'm pretty sure after the first weeks sales of YW I labelled it a disappointment and another Level 5 failure.
Whoops.
Hopefully the SCEJ guys are happy with these numbers for Oreshika as I want to believe in more JRPG projects from them in the future. You know, that Wild ARMs 6... :V
Oreshika 2's about in-line with the PSP game. It's higher, but within that range.
Dunno if that's a favorable point for SCEJ's expansion of RPGs or not though.
Do we have a first week comparison to the other in the series for:
03./00. [PS3] Atelier Shallie: Alchemist of the Dusk Sea # <RPG> (Gust) {2014.07.17} (¥7.344) - 43.744 / NEW
What I found astonishing is that the casual crowd moved to mobiles like a single block in very short time. One would have expected instead a more gradual transition - it didn't happen and this was almost impossible to predict.
It is worth to note anyway that the same audience is not bound to any particular device and will hardly ever be. Considering how fast moving is this market and relative customers, I don't think that they will necessarily hang on smartphones forever. Of course I'm not implying that they will return to handheld gaming machines. I'm implying that the strong point being casual (lot of front profits) is also possibly its weakness (not loyal). As this was the problem for Nintendo during the transition DS to 3DS, Wii to Wii U, it could be the problem of Apple and Samsung one day.
The most interesting thing to notice here is that there still exist a large amount of people willingly to pay a premium price (for a game) on a dedicated handheld system. Yokai Watch 2 is, among many other games of course, a good news for the traditional industry.
Well, it's a late bundle retail release of a digital game, so does it really count? Not to say that I don't agree, but using Clubs to say that doesn't make that much sense. It would make more sense if it was a new retail Wii Sports sequel. Also I think if we ever needed confirmation that the old Wii/DS casual audience has entirely left to mobile, that Wii Sports Club performance has got to be up there with the Brain Age 3DS debut in the US.

I used to love the original Wii Sports but i see no reason to play it again....
...and everytime i get free Wii Sports Club trials it seems the motion controls are worst than the original
They really should've done a Frozen PS4/BD bundle. It would've been a fun call back to the Talladega Night PS3 bundle!Frozen PS4 will push units i bet, that blu ray/dvd selling like crazy
I don't think Wii Sports Club is comparable to Brain Age 3DS in terms of bombing. Brain Age was a brand new game with original content, Wii Sports Club is a pretty lazy HD port that offers nothing new and was available digitally beforehand. I mean, Wii U owners are better off buying a used copy of Wii Sports Resorts at this point.
Sure it bombed hard, but using it as a irrefutable proof of the casual market being gone (which is true mind you) isn't really apt here.
I hope famitsu tracks the psp, 360, wii long enough till we single digits. When i first joined the forum and first gained knowledge of the thread, the xbox doing single digits was greatly amusing to me.

Pretty good hold for Youkai Watch 2, it's so gonna reach 2m within the first months. Really insane. It's gonna double the sales of the 1st games within the first 2 months.
At this rate, 3m this year is definitely possible, with the holidays and all.
Yo-Kai Watch 2....damnnnnn! and there were software shortages too, no?
2 million imminent, 3 by the end of the year.
Are there a lot of games that revive from the dead like that? I vaguely recall one example, but the name doesn't come to mind.
Good lord that second week sales for YW2 O-O
I honestly thought it would sell 75-100k but 300k the second week is utterly impressive! I guess it will be around 2.5 million at the end of the year. I think It can sell roughly 150-200k in December alone! :O
Which was their highest selling DS game last gen?
